dude, that's lewd

The M45 which formed the basis for the Ossi stalhelm is super cool, would've gone really well with Eichenlaubmuster

SSh-40 I picked up at a gun show. 1970s production.

Divisive opinion: I love the look of the M56.
>>
>>65057691
They look like little clone warriors.

I'm not a helmet guy, but I have some.
>>
>>65057691
They're pretty nice for east-bloc pots, much better than the Ssh-68.

I think the M56 is best with a helmet cover. On its own, it looks a little dopey, but with a helmet cover it's a top-tier Combloc design.

Yeah, it goes from "Stahlhelm at home" to cool with the cover
>>

The M56 is a Stalhelm. It was originally designed during WW2 but abandoned and didn't enter production until afterwards.

Did those oranges come with a free windshild wash?

How is it the Brits managed such a goofy high profile modern helmet but also managed to get the absolute most comfortable suspension? The Mk 6 is ugly as hell but I'd wear one all day.

>the absolute most comfortable suspension
I don't like it. The four straps on the top of the Mk6 have way less surface area than other similar liners like the M1 and put more pressure on your head. It also has little support for the sides of the user's head by design.
The Mk6A is great though because it completely fixes that by replacing the drawstring with a net.

The absolute best suspension on a helmet I've experienced is on the M92/M95/B826, which also theoretically has some of the best protection against bumps and backface deformation on a normal infantry helmet.
However it does come at the cost of poor compatibility with earpro compared to the ACH/ECH and other helmets currently in use.

I'll concede there a strong chance my head oversized and the shape of it is slanting my view on it but I find the giant pads front and back do most of the work and the straps over top are more giving it an assist. I've got it sized, I feel the straps doing their job. My perplexity is more for the design overall. Why's it set so high? Why is the coverage so poor? I personally find it more comfortable than a PASGT of the same period but it feels like it's far, far less capable of doing its job. It feels like it arrived at the blunt force protection and NOD, headset mount angle of modern helmets by accident.

>Why's it set so high? Why is the coverage so poor?
It sits about the same as a properly fitted ACH for me, so it might just be the way you have your suspension set up. That or you might need a bigger Mk6.
>It feels like it arrived at the blunt force protection and NOD, headset mount angle of modern helmets by accident.
NODs were coincidental but bump protection and headset compatibility were deliberate design choices. That said, it doesn't fit with any modern earpro like Comtac Vs.

And they came in different sizes too

Suprised that this thread is still up but might as well show off the helmets and other items in my collection

It's not just that you have a fantastic collection, it's the display effort to show it that makes it so admirable. Well done, thanks for sharing!

Neat. What are the cutouts in the rim for?

Probably fake?
>>
>>65071734
I think for either earpro underneath or using a telephone. They're for air raid defense & rescue. Also built kind of like a firefighter helmet, more resistant to falling debris.
