Is it just a fad or is it the early days of the future?

Pic related from tonight. Happening almost every single night now over Russia

Iran tried it and failed.
Russia tried it and didn't achieve much because they used their Gerans for random strikes into civllian housing.
Ukraine apparently understands that target selection is key, and blows up Russian industry.

So yeah, they'Re here to stay. But somebody wil lcome up wit ha counter, and it will just be another factor.
Unmanned systems will just integrate into combined arms, like helos, planes and tanks did.

Larger drones like Shahed are cheaper than missiles making more targets viable at a lower cost.
The real game changer is man portable PGMs cheap enough to be used agaisnt a single man.
>>
>>65080121
>Russia thought it would drone everybody and nobody would drone them
sad. many such cases.
>>
>>65080121
>Drone swarms
Dont you mean cruise missiles swarms? The Shahead and all the other prop driven " one way drones" are just cruise missiles that are dirt cheap and slow. Infact the Shahead 136 and the very first cruise missile both have the same maximum speed and both carry a similar payload. The only big difference is range and guidance system.

>Is it just a fad or is it the early days of the future?
What do you think OP? Are cruise missiles a fad? Obviously not.
>>
>>65080121
You can't win a war through non-nuclear cruise missiles strikes.
>>
>>65080230
Anon Im on your side 100% and think you're fighting the good fight but I fear we've lost this semantics war. Any propeller driven UAV is a drone now because normies are retarded.

why don't they just build a giant net wall along the border and make mexico pay for it?

How so?

strait status?
>>
>>65080121
Does that seem like more than the usual amount for Crimea?
>>
If it means fighter jets get to actually use their cannons again to shoot down drones I’m all for it
>>

>The Shahead and all the other prop driven " one way drones" are just cruise missiles
A "missile" implies jet or rocket engine being used. Because I said so.

is a fired artillery shell a missile? how about a bullet fired from a gun? an arrow from a bow? a rock from a sling? if you jump on a bed you're a missile right? actually Earth is constantly moving through space like a missile. is a missile the ultimate form of existance?
>>

Closed or open or blockaded or whatever the fuck, but nothing was achieved by drone swarms.

Iran could close the straits with 1930s moored mines and fishing boats, speedboats or whatever kind of boat they have. They didn't, and won't, because Xi told them not to.

>>65080274
They spammed a thousand or more at Israel and their neihgbors and zero terminals, oil fields, gas platforms, refineries, etc. etc. are on fire or in ruins.
Contrast this to Russia's refineries, pipelines, terminals and tankers which get droned daily.
They shot a few warheads into Isreali cities, which is idiotic and achieves nothing (see: Russia's attempt to terror bomb Ukraine)

Iran hit a few planes that the USAF parked like they were on fucking parade instead of in rarnge of enemy ballistic missiles. It's pretty much the special olympics, but I guess the US military is handicapped at a pretty high level at the moment.

>fighter jets
It wil be drones with cannons hunting drones.
>>
>>65080337
>They didn't, and won't
the strait is closed right now

I don't get enough opportunities to complain about that piece of shit missile.

Shell and fuel shortage. No one wants to shoot n scoot.

Did you say Japanese torpedo boats?

Yeah funny how when the largest navy in the world declares a blockade it actually works.

>Missile is derived from Latin "missilis" meaning "that may be thrown".
>Historically, 'missile' referred to any projectile that is capable of being thrown or a weapon that is shot or propelled towards a target.
>Later military definition refers to a missile as an airborne ranged weapon capable of self-propelled flight guided towards a specific target.
The answer to your question is Yes. Everyone is actually a missile, you, me, everyone on 4chan. Everyone is a missile if you think about it.
>>
>>65080348
Closed by promising to really, absolutey totally do something if somebody moves is not mined with 9001 tethered mines plus whatever other cold war leftovers Iran can throw into the strait.

The US won't mine the strait, Iran won't either. It's just posturing and promises.

>if you jump on a bed you're a missile right
I am convinced. Telling my wife tonight I am a missile as I vault naked into bed.
>>
>>65080369
It was unironically an immature technology made too soon.
>>
>>65080832
How so? It underperformed even contemporary ATGMs, despite being a large 150mm missile.

Jody's dick penetrating your wife? Multiuse missile.

the strait is open, ships pass it freely
>>
>>65080405
It works so well that the strait had been closed weeks before they declared it.

cheap, spammable drones are the chariots of our time.

Shame your warhead is so weak you cannot penetrate either her frontal or rear armour and your high-explosive payload sprays harmlessly away from her.
