Are you sure, man?
This thing genuinely smells like rank armpits and failed states.
>>
>>65196375
NTA
Just leave it out in the open for a while, the smell will dissipate naturally, or to accelerate it sit it in a windowsill that gets light constantly throughout the day for like a week. If you do the sunlight thing, it might fade a bit so ymmv.
Otherwise if you really want to get rid of the smell, you could soak it in soapy water for like 20-30 minutes and then scrub it
Just don't let the leather loop get into the soap, it won't play along as well as the canvas.
It's just canvas, you can clean it like any piece of cloth.

He's outside his expertise. Similar to his video on the AUG.
There's some absolutely amazing videos out there from Valgear on the gun as well as Brandon Mitchell.
What's most interesting to me is that they mention Russia mass issuing AP tungsten core ammo to their assaulters. Surprising they're able to tbqhwy.

They are better. I have a 2018 WASR that is extremely solid and well built but completely pre-scratched and rougher uneven phosphate finish. The hammer pin and spring were installed very crooked with one end of the pin out of the hammer pin hole. It still ran perfectly like that. But I got a new 2024 WASR and it is much nicer. No scratches, nicer looking finish, everything installed correctly and straight.

It’ll practically be the same thing if done correctly with correct parts but the “original” converted ones (yes they were still converted after entering the US) like the SGL demand a premium because they’re professionally done by a certain group and marked a certain way, literally.

Consider a BMW E30. Is an E30 M3 worth the same as an E30 316s upgraded with aftermarket parts that are more-or-less the same an M3? Of course not.

Not pictured, but the front trunnion also cracked.
I haven't decided whether PPU sent me a spicy round or Chinese pot metal AK just reached it's natural conclusion but I sure am glad I didn't take any shrapnel to the face.

Why are the 103s known as "ribbed" and these are "channel"?
Is it because the Molot plums are called "ribbed" and it's just to avoid confusion?
>I've referred to the Ribbed 103s as channel more than a few times.
Also not necessarily asking these to you directly, more just thinking out loud.

Here's a ribbed 103 marked as channel, which is why it made me think of this.
>>
>>65206725
>>65206728
It's because of the appearance comparative to each other and other 7.62x39 AK mags (bakelite and other "slabside" mags, mostly).
The "ribbed" mags look like reinforcement ribs sticking out from an underlying surface.
The "channel" mags look more like recesses (or channels) in a larger surface.
That's my theory at least, I'm not the one who decided this nomenclature nor do I have a source stating why one general term is used over another.

Fully welded folder?
I tend to disbelieve unfired claims, especially if someone went through the trouble of timing that Xbox fuckhueg GK brake.
Regardless, still a nice acquisition. If you plan on keeping it, I'd ditch the brake (unless you plan on shooting 3" slugs a lot) and get a Mod choke at least.

>Fully welded folder?
Nope, it's fixed. I actually didn't know welded stocks were a thing, now I wish mine was one lol.
I initially dismissed the previous owner claiming it was unfired in the ad but after getting it in my hands and opening it up I really don't see any signs of use at all. Plus the guy said he already had a factory SBS version so this probably just sat around in the box until he felt like getting rid of it.
A choke would be great, I agree. I plan on getting a couple 10 or 12 round mags and maybe even a drum and bringing it out to 3 gun for shits and giggles so that'll probably be more useful than a brake. Looks like there's also a choke with threads for a brake so doubling up might be fun as long as it's not too unwieldy.
>>65207127
I'll be honest that's one of the first things I looked up when I was planning on getting it. Doesn't really seem like anyone's tried to install one and I don't feel like trying either. It'd probably be hilarious the first couple times with a drum but I already pretty much only put my MPX into fun mode as a party trick for others to try, I don't really want one that'll only do FRT on a shotgun unless someone's made a 3 way AK FRT that I haven't heard of yet.

Type 81 mags are collector's pieces mostly, I don't think you could even get a price for it because of how few there are in the country. Any searching online brings you to Canadian merchants, and their prices aren't comparable (and are for 5 round mags anyway).
Keep it around as an oddity, you won't get a good price for it trying to sell it off unless you find one of the people who owns one of the 20 or so rifles in the country.

Zastava AK, one of the newer ones, does this look like serious damage on the bolt carrier or regular wear?
Ignore the heavy grease
The edge right under the bolt, the one that contacts the hammer seems like it's not straight and is rounding over.
Gun was bought brand new, it fired something like 100 rounds
>>
>>
>>65213827
Look at your hammer and your carrier tail, compare the wear on those. It might just be "wearing in" and then the wear will rest at a consistent point. It doesn't look that bad, even for such a low round count.
It wouldn't hurt to file down the sharp edges though either, you're not going to work that metal back to the original shape and I personally would rather not cut myself disassembling my own guns.
>>
File: 8186266161y.jpg (506.7 KB)
>>65213843
Here's what the hammer looks like, there's surface wear which is what I expected and it's basically just bluing taken off, nothing I'd worry about
I don't think it was possible to have this much wear on the bolt carrier part just for cycling the bolt with the hammer pulled back, it makes no sense to me
>>
>>65213866
If there's wear on your carrier, that means your hammer is harder than your carrier. If the only wear on the hammer is finish, then this is doubly the case.
If the carrier tail isn't mushrooming too much, you have nothing to worry about. The carrier tail is the first part to touch the hammer, so MOST of the wear should be on that face, unless your hammer is slightly (a few thousandths) too high. If it is, not really a problem unless your wear progresses much faster in the next few hundred rounds.
Just file down the sharp edges so you don't cut yourself. It is genuinely too early to tell if your wear is premature or not, it could just be parts "wearing in" to each other and then the wear stops.
>>
File: 62635u1i1.jpg (675.9 KB)
>>65213885
Here's the carrier tail and the part I was talking about, the carrier tail has some wear and peening on it but I've heard that's completely normal, not so sure about the part under it.
A couple of times instead of dry firing, I used to pull the bolt handle back until that touches the hammer and I'd squeeze the trigger so it all drops without too much clanking, but I don't know I highly doubt that's what started screwing the carrier up..

That looks like it was just the parts wearing in to a resting place for tolerances, they all look fine. File down the sharp spots, then keep shooting. It's most likely fine, just check on it sporadically, around 1000 rounds or so and then every 500-1000 depending on how anal you want to be about it.
You're just too early in round count to really know which it is between wearing in or wear, like I said.

Alright thanks anon and sorry for the noob question, I also suspected it was normal wear in but just wanted to check with experienced people
Laws in my country are alright but replacing some parts sucks because stuff like barrels and carriers require about the same amount of paperwork as buying a new gun so it's a headache

Based ADHD autist I can relate.
My CETME bending jig came in (I bought one from the guy on the files selling em). I picked up one of those OG barreled kits that were for sale for like $125, barrel looks unfired. I've never built one or welded anything but what could go wrong, right?
Gif unrelated but are some Czech tracer 7.62x39 rounds I accidentally bought

based. I got several projects from the comblok atm. I need to print a new CETME jig, my last one was not infilled enough and I need a press to do it with but its being dealt with. Im using a PY2A flat and jig for my MPiKM so Im finding ways to bend that at the moment. one thing is for certain and that's that i need a lot more 1/4" bolts and nuts.
things im still missing for my MPiKM clone build:
>recoil guide assembly (without spring)
>Bolt carrier with piston
>Lower handguard
>Inner stock hardware connector
>Buttplate and stock sling swivel and hardware
>pistol grip hardware
>gas toob
>new rivet kit
>tools to make new rivets (looking at toth tools for that)
picrel is the majority of the parts i got for this kit so far, i know the bayo is a type 1 polish, dw ab it

>Could just call up Polytech and ask riiiiiight?
Actually, yes, maybe, sort of, but it depends on what you need.
https://polytechparts.com/original-polytech/
They do seem to have stripped 7.62x39 bolts if one wanted to somehow convert the gun to something more normal.

And if anyone is wondering if this website is legit I have bought their solid steel magazine couplers from them before without any problems. Probably the most sturdy AK mag couplers you will ever find, actually.

Who the fuck came up with ak being inaccurate myth? Gamer virgins, Hollywood or podcast operators?
I'm not new to shooting (not an expert either) but new to shooting AKs, managed to hit a 10 cm (4 inch) wide target at 100 meters twice using iron sights today, I'm convinced it works nicely and every miss is my fault.
I didn't shoot a lot but I plan to do it more often next time from 200, this is way more enjoyable than any other rifle I've had the chance of using. I don't even want to buy any kind of optics or scope for it, the sights are great
>>
>>65215356
Forgot to add one thing I think is dumb is the P/0/battle zero setting on the rear sight, it's essentially the same as if you were to set it at 300 meters and I didn't find any use of it, used the 100m setting instead

Can anyone with a folding trunnion take some measurements of their push button for me? I'm making a part and I need to get a wide variety of measurements so I can accommodate as many manufactures as possible. I already have a commercial Bulgarian part so if you've got any of the military varieties, PSA, Riley etc. hook me up with the dimensions and I'll give you guys first dibs once its ready.
I need the diameter and length of the main shaft and then the horizontal length of the latch. Would greatly prefer the measurements be done in mm but I'll take whatever.

>Who the fuck came up with ak being inaccurate myth?
Probably came about in Vietnam or Africa due to fighting retard conscripts who didn't know how to use their rifles effectively. If you massacred a bunch or tards but never bothered to fire one of their AK's for yourself you would probably conclude that they died because their commie gear was dogshit not because they were stupid and didn't know how to use it correctly. The myth likely spread from there just like all the other boomer myths of the era.

I remember when a brand new zastava m92 was $499 in 2014. Now they're all $1100.

its like that with everything
city i live in the average house price was like $120k back in 2014 and now its averaging at $500k or more, area i live in got slightly gentrified as well and now the new condos down the road from my apartment are starting at $750k
this is ohio, it isnt like it is a place that is particularly exciting or has really high paying jobs due to the COL
its all just fucked, we are the weimar states now

Not sure how it is in Ohio, but I'm guessing all these condos looks like fancy cookie cutter combloc buildings painted in earth tones? Very similar to modern McDonald's buildings?

If you live anywhere within an hour of Columbus you're getting real estate investment because of the Intel plant they wanted to build out West; the R candidate for governor renewed their hopes for it because of his proclivity for H-1Bs.
>t. live an hour outside of Columbus, already seen two apartment buildings built and heard from friends and family of very odd offers to wholesale buy their farms out from under them
By "very odd" I mean either absurdly high prices for 50-100 acres back 2 gravel roads in BFE, from men who are very clearly Arabs/Indians, or offers to buy at slightly above market rate that when refused are met with a thinly-veiled threat (like "you'll regret not selling to me" or "you don't know what's coming to you") from the "prospective buyer."
That and for some reason a lot of Califags have decided that Ohio is the place to move to, don't know why.

I also think it was from some form of CIA propaganda during Vietnam much in the same way during WW2 a common propaganda cope was that mg42 just fires too quickly to be effective
There's just no way in hell that a bunch of different countries recreate a rifle in millions of instances that's incapable of hitting what you're aiming at, it makes no sense from any perspective you can come up with

not particularly, i got the bone stock dry in red wood with the krinkov brace because next month theyre banned forever. i'm thinking about a muzzle device or suppressor though. i still really want a full size AK but i've already spent 3.5k on an LMT mars lower and a few other guns. i may still get a full size but if not then i figured the one i should have is a shorty since 7.62 loses almost nothing in 10". the trigger on the pap is crazy nice compared to what i was expecting from basically an RPK shrunk down. do you have any muzzle device recommendations? something on the quieter end
>>
>>65218327
by the way do you use the front sight flip up? it's a strange sight picture considering the dot is in the center of a round paddle and i find it hard to believe it works out to 200 let alone closer in because of how much space it takes up in the sight picture.
>>
>>65218342
Nta but I also have a zastava just a different one than yours and the flip up front sights are useless, they're just a cool feature that makes the gun more sophisticated.
This is because it's too wide as you said and because almost every ak in existence has a front sight post off center from the factory when they zeroed it, so when you flip the sight it covers the real sigh post and you'd have to hold over from memory which is dumb.
