The calibre debate has been settled.

The terminal effect of 9x19 is now evident, any claims about "ballistic insufficiency" are either made in bad faith or the result of ignorance.

I recommend going to a shooting event like action shooting international (designed to be less rules based and more chill + practical than IDPA or USPSA) or steel match and just talk to guys there. I did that and they were telling me about how you become a "RSO" at this one range near me and then you have unfettered access once a week at like 6PM on thusday to do whatever the fuck you want.

Yes, yes it is. Everyone in CT seems to recommend it, but I'm a bit hesitant because I don't want to join it and it's like I'm going to fucking Blue Trail. Everywhere else I look seems to want you to know someone, has a waiting list, or has some extra shit attached to it.

Hello fellow Connecticunt. Hope your AW certs are coming in.
Blue Trail kinda sucks but I do enjoy their shotgun field. Just wish they'd maintain it better. They get away with a lot of bs because they're like the only gig in town.

Man I thought the place would be nicer when I heard about it. I fucking go there one day with a buddy and the pistol range is fucking downhill, the rifle range only goes 100 yards and you have to fucking sit or lay down. I ended up shooting a shotgun there with slugs while sitting down and it was awkward as fuck.

Transitioning to less lethal would have given the perpetrator enough time to close the distance which could have lead to the policeman being disarmed and executed with the service pistol.

It's lame. I hate that they have the retard-barrier on the rifle range so you only get to shoot out of a little slit. It seems to make everything much more concussive.

I know of one, which I usually shoot at. It's a better experience than Blue Trail but there are severe limitations. Like, only 8 pistol lanes and 8 rifle lanes. And it's only open to the public 9-5 on saturdays and 9-12 on sundays. And the usual restrictions like no drawing from the holster, no rapid fire, and so on.
Don't worry, you can join and become a member of this lovely shooting association - if you manage to submit an application for the 15 minutes a year they accept new applicants. Members get to use the range any day of the week. But still, it's just 8 lanes each of 7-25yd pistol and 25-100yd rifle. It's not exactly amazing

I see. So the range is essentially held hostage by preposterously illogical and ever-increasing wildlife/public safety/lead contamination/insurance bullshit, crafted with the malicious intent of pricing the range out bit by bit until they must succumb to the exorbitant taxes, fees and insurance, finally allowing the malevolent Demonrats to shut down the evil child-murder training facility that they've been twisting the screws on for decades

This is sort of a shameful post - I haven't shot a handgun in probably 2-3 years at this point, but I used to shoot frequently about 10 years ago. I've been accumulating random guns while on the grind doing other things and my neighbor just gave me about $2k in ammo and various handguns for a very reasonable price, so it's probably time to get back into it. I was looking into the CZ75 vs omega and it feels like the omega trigger is better but apparently the non-omega mods can get it to a better state. I don't really have time to deal with autistically researching anymore, so I just wanted to get some feedback on what I should dump my money into.
not pictured: other cheap 1911s, an unreasonable number of beretta 92s and all sorts of revolvers. the berettas are okay. the 1911s and revolvers are too low capacity, but in general quite nice to shoot.

>>
>>65212273
I would say something with a good trigger because it would become your favorite new gun, the Beretta M9A4 is already optic cut but it's not a super good optic host unless you use aftermarket plates that are lower.
The Sig P226 I am pretty sure you can buy an optic cut slide for.
CZs are easy to cut compared to the Beretta and have alot of options for different plate systems.
>>
>>
>>65212288
I may try cutting the cz75 omega slide. The trigger is kind of shitty but my wife wants to get a suppressor for it to use as a stroller gun. I don't really want to mess with the p226 for the aforementioned reason, but the trigger does feel much better than any of the CZs.

File: OPTION-drawing-1.jpg (443.4 KB)
I've been working on my speed at the range lately and it got me thinking about speed and accuracy standards in today's shooting world. Basically everyone uses full-size USPSA/IPSC targets to measure their accuracy. The A zone is 15cm wide, 28cm tall, or roughly 6x11 inches. This was determined way back in the day by the people who founded IPSC. My question is: did they size the A zone the way they did to encourage faster shooting by a wider population of competitors? Or is it actually based on human anatomy? What if they had tightened the accuracy standard and made the A zone 4x8 inches? Or 3x5? I wonder if we would be as focused on speed as we are now.
For example, if I put a 3x5 notecard in the middle of a USPSA target at 10 yards, I can reliably put all my shots in there, but my splits are like .45-.50 which is an absolute snails pace by modern standards. And that's a hard wall too. Any faster, and the accuracy suffers. I have no doubt some IPSC world shoot champion could do it quicker, but for the average shooter I think there is an actual unbreakable relationship between speed and accuracy.
Or I'm just coping. That could be the case too.
Pic related, they almost made the IPSC target easier.

A zone contains the heart and spine. If you want to include the lungs then the zone is more circular like the IDSC shape. The heart is about the size of a 3x5 notecard and I’ve been modifying USPSA targets by taping a heart into the center of the A zone.

It's the ones the club buys. Since it seems most others went to "modern" targets I assume the club get them on the cheap. I'm new to competitive handgun shooting even though I'm just doing practices. I've shot 3P small bore and got some awards years ago, small bore sporter rifle leagues and I did a few casual trap leagues.

Picked it up yesterday, so nothing to say RE: performance until I put a few hundred rounds through it tomorrow. It's a Glonk though, so it's 99.99% likely to be the same as any other glonk where accuracy and function are concerned.
This is the fifth or so Glock 19/17 I've owned over the last 20 or so years. Gen 2, 3 and 4 previously. I'm feeling pretty good about the changes they've made ergonomically. Same general Glonk grip angle, which is generally why I end up trading them off after a while, but I'm committing to it this round. The texturing is great, very grippy. They've added a textured step that acts as a half-assed gas pedal towards the front of the frame. Will see if that has actual utility tomorrow, feels pretty good dry firing.
COA seems to be a solid optic. Basically an updated ACRO with less bezel/body and convenient enough controls and adjustments placement.

He's shooting low left because he's having trigger control and grip pressure issues. I cringe a little every time I see one of you cross-thumb dunces at the range.

That’s a solid grouping, you have a clear idea of what you need to improve on.
Watch Ben Stoeger’s grip videos, I’ll bet that’s the source of your issue with trigger control. My 25 yard groups, funny how the other guys don’t have groups to post
>>

>>65214497
Hold and pull the trigger correctly.
Watch videos from Ben Stoeger/Joel Park about grip and how much grip tension you should be using. Take a slow mo video of your shooting hands and try to see if you can obviously see something going on. Have someone else look.
Many people think the purpose of grip is to maximize recoil control and keep the gun flat. That’s kind of a fool’s errand and will fuck you up. What it actually should be is to maintain control over the gun, the gun is going to recoil, let it. Let the gun recoil but maintain control, the recoil should be predictable. You’re trying to get the gun back on target, not keep it from leaving the target.
Why should you listen to me? >>65211079
Go watch Ben Stoeger’s videos. They are what lead to my breakthroughs in marksmanship and speed shooting. He puts out the best no bullshit content for free.

why do people always use zeroing targets and never the right practice targets? In the book On Killing the retired army guy/author said the military finally learned to train the shooters with life like or humanoid targets to improve kill ratio

I want a gun i can carry very easily without needing to break out the Special Carrying-a-Gun wardrobe, what are some specific models i should check out? Currently have a p229 but its not easy to conceal
for self defense against wackos, i’ve seen more than the usual number of crazies lately, last one was walking down the street flipping a fuckoff big butterfly knife and just screaming his head off about how he was angry being crazy
I don’t anticipate the need to defend myself against more than one person, so i was thinking of a pocket revolver or possibly even derringer
Comfort and ease of carrying is paramount

If you haven't you should go finger fuck the new generation of micro compact 9s. They are tiny, fit in the hand beautifully, and have great capacity. If that's still more than you want then yea a snub nose in your pocket is probably the best option.

It depends where I shoot, at some ranges there isnt a flat surface for a bag but a edge a bipod could dig in. I wonder if its cracking the frame but i dont see how.

Very well, working 7 days a week IMAO. Today i make a water emulsifieng rust protectant, a road dust inhibitor and stamping oils for steel.
Months ago I ordered a Bergara HMR because my dream rifle (HMR PRO) got out of production and last week i found one used and bought it, now i get 2 rifles within weeks. 1x 6.5 Creedmoor and 1x 300PRC. Cant wait for my 1st bolty :D

At least in comparison to a metal frame I'd wager the plastic will flex more which should keep it more intact. As long as the plastic can flex the forces out it should be fine, but if you do thousands of rounds you may see some issues.

nah i try to keep it under 200rnds, just grouping to find good reloading charges for the Glawk.
>>65215950
Both of them are a super choice for beginners, barrel lenght, profile, integral chassis and so on make them perfect. The HMR is super, i already got a Match trigger (the HMR PRO includes the identical one already) back when I didnt know the HMR PRO will be bought. You can just drop it in and its done, but better get the Triggertech Diamond for real LRP. The HMR PRO is just a bit better in terms of action, bolt and material. Here its worth it to put it into a real chassis like KRG or MDT and even shoot out barrels and buy match barrels. For now I let them stock, just the Trigger and done. Later i buy Vision PRO chassis for the HMR Pro and make it "custom".

Surprisingly great gun. I didn't expect to love mine as much as I do. The grip, especially the fullsize one, is great. It has completely supplanted my desire to get a gen 6 glawk especially since I feel gen 6 dropped the ball on a lot of stuff like the optics system and the stupid beaver tail. It also makes echelonfags seethe for some reason which I also find entertaining. I'm probably gonna get another one eventually desu. Not sure if I'll do a fullsize or not

I tried another bill drill today. It's never spectacular, but I like to shoot one with the first shots of the morning to get a more practical standard of how well I can perform. If it's under 3 seconds and the misses aren't terrible, I'm not disappointed.

Ah makes sense, just hit the range more often and do some dry fire at home and it’ll clean that right up, I had the same issue, was slacking on hitting the range and doing training. Thought my gun was shooting right, then I realized ALL my guns can’t be shooting right simultaneously.

I claimed my G19 Gen 5 was shooting super far left with the stock sights and people kept telling me “it’s not the gun it’s you”. I was partially having to cover the front sight with the right post to hit center, and people said I just sucked. Anyway not saying these are good groups but here’s 1 mag at 15 yards after changing out the sights for some trijicon GL01s and now the rounds go where I want. Kind of a relief to see it perform better after the sight swap.

I bought the gun to carry it so I'm cool with the low capacity. If I could shoot a derringer accurately I'd probably carry that instead. It would be cool to have 10 rounds though. I don't carry a spare mag but if I had 10 rounds I wouldn't even be tempted.

I have two questions. One is for PX4anon, the other is for the public
1) The wife and I went to a coworker's house for dinner. He showed me his guns and he had a dark FDE PX4 Compact. It was ugly as fuck and I've never seen anything like it. He insists that's factory finish.
2) I just bought a pre-B CZ-75. Is it safe to dryfire with snap caps and which mags should I buy for it?
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>65217769
1)
PX4anon here, I met a based boomer at a steel match and he came up to me to talk about PX4s. He had a FDE compact, real FDE polymer frame, that he had langdonized. Cool, but a FDE lower and a black slide would be my preference. It's a real variant, there were a few other colors.

Seems there's a number of people here with weighted snap caps, what brands do you have? I bought the snappoints that are advertised all over the place and they're fuckin trash. The primer pad thing gets a hole in it instantly and falls apart leaving plastic shit in my gun. This is what I get for purchasing a product advertised on instagram.

the thread used to be talking about handguns, posting your cool handguns, and positive interactions related to handguns. several tumors grew and their cancer has driven out most people
it used to be very beveraged based, where people would post their handgun next to their current or favorite beverage.

A red dot raises the sight axis up reducing the effect compared to iron sights which look just over the circumference. You could use a suppressor wrap but they make it stay hotter longer and are not really suitable for handguns, just slow fire rifles. It'd probly block iron sights anyway

Depends on what you want out of it. It's objectively not going to perform better, but the P226 has features available that Zastava doesn't. The Zero 2 is on par with a P226 and fixed the xboxhueg grip issue of the Zero 1 imo. It's probably the sweet spot in that lineup if you can't find a used P226 with the features you want at a great price
