Is the war in Ukraine the first "post-manpower war"? Ukraine isn't even using infantry to fight anymore, they have unmanned ground drones supported by unmanned air drones taking ground.

What were the previous ones then?

>Ukraine isn't even using infantry to fight anymore, they have unmanned ground drones supported by unmanned air drones taking ground.
You're fucking retarded if you beleive this. Both Russia and Ukraine are still throwing conscripts at the grinder by the thousands. Drones are used for area denial and harrasing fire (which thanks to said drones is now harrasing your entire country instead of just the front lines)..
>>
>>65211213
There hasn't been one yet as manpower is still highly relevant in a war economy and manpower has been used extensively in Ukraine.
>>
>>65211227
To be fair, it's only a few units doing it on the Ukrainian side by now, and they're increasingly catching flak for it. It's not really by the thousands any more on their side, is what I'm saying. The posture and strategy is shifting to what OP describes but they're not quite there yet.
>>
>>65211227
Ukraine has been losing le thousands daily for 4+ years now
So where are the gains, russmutt? Why did the Russian navy lose a frigate and their morst advanced corvette over the past two days?

>>65211156
You just wanted to post "le anime pic" here because you don't have a friendgroup to discuss this with. Fuck off.

Admitting you're OP.

Trying to samefag and claim you're not OP. In the same message. LOL

Are you some kind of ESL, or just uneducated and retarded? "is what I'm saying" is just a clarification of the previous sentence. I'm saying neither you nor OP is completely correct, but that over time, reality is converging to look more like OP's depiction than yours.

>OP sees one soundbite about a single ground drone and this means Ukraine isn't using infantry to fight any more
lmao

>Ukraine isn't even using infantry to fight anymore

That's because they don't have the manpower to go on the offensive. They're fighting a defensive war to bleed Russia dry because that's all they can do. We'll see what happens with these new mechanized units they created, if they are able to take back Crimea and parts of Kherson/Zaporizhzhia from the undersupplied Russians I would cum massive buckets.`

Many, many such cases. Probably the basis for half the threads on multiple boards.

Obviously it's not an immediate process but they are slowly retiring their infanty

I did the math and it turns out that a country of 40 million people (now 22-25 million) can lose thousands a day for a while. they were losing more due to people leaving the country but zelensky has closed that loophole

Russia currently controls about 20% of Ukraine

>Ukraine isn't even using infantry to fight anymore
This is the dumbest shit I have read in awhile, you think the front advances while the infantry stay still?
Ukraine is using drones to kill as much as possible before the infantry advance and just like when this same tactic was done with arty in the past you always miss enough that the infantry have to fight.
>>
>>65212096
Where are you getting this information?
>>
Brainlets on /k/ still cope about tanks not being made obsolete by drones, which was 2022 news.
Infantry being made obsolete by drones is actual 2026 news, it'll take 10-20 years for imbeciles like >>65212283 to realize this.
>>
>>65211213
Azerbaijan vs. Armenia.
>>
>>65211156
>Ukraine isn't even using infantry to fight anymore,
are you basing this on /r/combatfootage? because they are absolutely using infantry and losing thousands of them per month. they're just not the ones doing most of the killing.

in this war, ukrainian infantry try to cling on to forward cover positions with their dear lives (because they can't retreat without getting droned) while russian infantry advance in ones or twos, take immense casualties and try to build up enough to either seize forward positions outright or cut them off from any resupply/rotation

To be fair he didn't say in what time intervals, just that they're losing thousands. Thousand per month sounds reasonable to me, with Russians losing about a thousand per day.
>>
>>65214100
That just means they’re keeping it secret from the Russians
>>
>>65211156
Because the actual trained volunteer military from their standing army infantry units in 2014 pre-war are all dead by now in 2026

I remember us talking about the little green men and the ukranian rebel neo Nazis now known as azov (dropped all Neo-nazi connections) back in 2014

They were all issuing surplus flecktarn and drove up market prices on those

It was funny because /fa/ was using flecktarn in low priced outfits particularly the parka

I really don't get drone war. Why can't the side that's been getting dicked by it just make it a signal dead zone?
Yeah wired drones would replace them but they have very real limits, such as; comprimising positions and larger attack surface.
Right now it feels like both sides see too much to gain than to take the cheap shit off the table.
Millions of equipment damage costs be damned.
