Yeah, but the Finns were a part of that whole mess. To a lesser degree, so were various other tribes from Newfoundland, to the middle east, to north Africa.
All of them traded with the Scandinavians/vikings to one degree or another, some of them were ruled by viking warlords, some had a weird on/of relationship with the vikings, some of the tribesmen became mercenaries or raiders themselves and fought alongside the vikings.
That whole chapter of history is complicated and poorly documented.

Be it as it may but one has to ask how does a motorized steel tube filled with fighting men relate to Viking long boats apart from their shared ability to float on water and more importantly why are these later motorized steel tubes so popular?

Finns basically didn't emerge from the swamps before 1400 or so, and vikings were a much earlier thing. In fact vikings would probably have been raiding the finns if they had anything worth stealing but at the time all they had was squirrel skins.

Pity, I always gave he Finns so much respect and dignity. Now, I find they are just the hillbillies of Scandinavia eating boiled barely and sea urchin roe. I still think they are at least as cool as Estonians.

id say the main things you can idolize the finns for is that they're generally too naive and simple to be really bad people. it's a country of peasants who are all content to grill and hope things work out somehow
however things often do not work out and we routinely get our asses kicked in this globalist world. no one wants to make anything cool or new for export because "its too risky", or even learn how to not sound like a retarded autistic asshole when speaking to foreign clients because idk stubbornness i guess. there are solutions to this country's problems but no one wants to commit to them because it might slightly inconvenience them or because the politicians are the same retarded peasant stock as the populace

I kinda liked 'Troll', but not I find out it's as Norwegian as NAMMO. And would it be too much for her to get a shorter, regular name?
>>
>>65212055
id say the biggest issue is poorly educated elderly men, because only care about their grill and in worst cases are the type that think that changing your mind is gay. but i guess it's elderly women too. boomerism runs rampant in this country too, as well as all the other failings that come with democracy. it's so nice that we don't have that much corruption compared to other countries, it warms me to know that no one's benefiting from our poor choices

Finns actually had barely anything to do with Vikings despite the geographic proximity. Consider that there are over 3000 runestones in Sweden, three of which even reference what is present-day Finland and the number of ancient runestones found in Finland is 1 (partial)

Mixed race of multiple peoples which has become genetically homogenious distinct group over the centuries. Just like any nation state. Russias, laplanders, swedes and southern middle-european clans. Vepsäläiset, karjalaiset, swedes, and so on. I can't recall them all because it's so rarely asked.
It's not a grand mystery no more than the ethnic origins of brazilians, or any people of a national state. It's just that it generally becomes an inconvenient topic when politics become involved and as such is ignored. It's dumb that people keep insisting otherwise. But like I said, it's due to political reasons.
No. Finns were not vikings (swedish pirates/raiders) any more than, i don't know, italians were vikings. No raids occured because the coastline was sparsely populated and finns had nothing worth risking your life over(ie. compare their churches of that era to middle european churches), so instead the vikings settled on the coastline. Which leads to the effect of picking family lines to validate social standing and life choices, an act well known in US. In which, for example, a person with 1% native american genetics identifies as one.

Interesting, at least to me. Is there any significant blending or exclusion of Neanderthal DNA in the common genetic heritage of "Finns"? Are Samiis more asiatic than European and what are the oldest human archeological finds dated to? Do Finns claim pic rel, or is this from another culture?

how do you even get brown immigration? There's no way niggers/camelfuckers would freely go somewhere where you only see the sun half the year with temperatures being freezing most of the year. Also your language is completely unrelated to any language they probably speak, on top of being grammatically complex. Why go to Finnland and not France or Spain or something where there is already tons of them, the weather is nicer and the language is probably already familiar?

Vikings pretty much refused to raid Finnish areas after that one big Swedish viking raid had a little bit of pushback.
Finns burned whatever was Stockholm at that time.

Racism (all xenophobia really) is a natural impulse that is meant to protect your tribe from outside danger.
During modern times it has mixed effectiveness depending on your situation but for a first/second worlder encountering third worlders it is an amazingly good litmus test.
If you suppress a society's natural reflexes and socially engineer them to be welcoming of anyone, you not only make them highly vulnerable, you also make them neurotic because their innate reflexes are constantly fighting the NO! BAD BOY! learned responses to the "EW, ALIEN, STAY VIGILANT" impulse their brain is sending them.

desu finland does need skilled immigration to survive the consequences of its pension system pyramid scheme, but what it does not need is a horde of global south rejects with no skills or work ethic to speak of. as you said, finland is the last choice for any skilled immigrants because germany, france, spain etc all have better weather, better pay and the languages are easier to learn. and thus all finland gets is a bunch of "taxi drivers" and such, which have 0 chance of getting jobs and are a further drain on the economy.
i came up with some ideas how finland could pull itself out of this vicious loop of only getting retarded migrants and becoming poorer.
1) pull a singapore and make english an official language in the capital area. no need to learn some new gay language if you don't happen to speak it. english is fine. and then really market the helsinki as a place for high skill immigration
2) actually spend on stimulating the economy. find some new clients. speak proper english to them instead of garbled retarded sounding finglish. whine and lobby non-stop for EU gibs like spain and italy do.
3) completely and utterly gut the pension welfare subsidization shit from real economic activity like salaries and so on. make finns attractive to hire for outsourcing purposes (currently it is NOT attractive because of pensions draining like 25% of every transaction). put boomers on life support so the economy can grow
obviously none of this will ever happen because finns are exactly made up of the type these changes would cause the most short term pain to (retarded, stubborn elderly boomer types who can't into english and are too shy to ask for gibs or market themselves). so instead this country gets to become greece 2.0 in about 10-15 years

Sounds kind rim. Can you offer homesteading in the rural reas for farming and ranching (cattle/caribou) to stimulate "desirable immigration"? I swear I saw an island between Ireland and England that was givin away properties, but you had to stay and raise children.

>What is thier origin story?
I like the Roman historian Tacitus's description of Fenni
>In wonderful savageness live the nation of the Fenni, and in beastly poverty, destitute of arms, of horses, and of homes; their food, the common herbs; their apparel, skins; their bed, the earth; their only hope in their arrows, which for want of iron they point with bones. Their common support they have from the chase, women as well as men; for with these the former wander up and down, and crave a portion of the prey. Nor other shelter have they even for their babes, against the violence of tempests and ravening beasts, than to cover them with the branches of trees twisted together; this a reception for the old men, and hither resort the young. Such a condition they judge happier than the painful occupation of cultivating the ground, than the labour of rearing houses than the agitations of hope and fear attending the defense of their own property or the seizing that of others. Secure against the designs of men, secure against the malignity of the Gods, they have accomplished a thing of infinite difficulty; that to them nothing remains even to be wished.

Wasn't the BTR-60 also notorious for an incident in which some conscripts drowned after their BTR capsized and sank while crossing a lake?
Even if some mistakes were made with preparing and loading the vehicle, the thing sounds like a deathtrap even when operated correctly.

Yup, extra ass weight added in Finland, poorly teached water crossing procedures and a hunk of junk, that leaks gallons of water in straight from the factory, got 7 conscripts killed. It fell in ass first and laid upside down in the bottom of the lake. No one got out, as the hatches were blocked. Those that were on the deck jumped off and swam to other vehicles. I think it's still forbidden to swim with passengers during the peace time. Only the crew and a training officer are allowed.

Fiskars has gone drastically down in quality in the last ~10 years. Their axes and shovels used to be amazing. Now there are plenty of cases where they can break on first use. There is only so much you can cheap out on materials/production costs before it starts to affect the end product.

Because it's bullshit
The real reason why we weren't hassled by Vikings as much was that the population mostly lived in forests inland and the coastal Vikings pretty much went "fuck that, we're not going in there"
