in America it is a constitutional right to keep and bear something that can kill anyone who tries to kill you and i think that is really cool
>>
I grew up around them, family is almost all country people who hunt (myself included), so I've really never haven't been around guns. I've had my own guns since I was 12

A few reasons.

1. They're really cool mechanically, and I'm a fan of machines that work together to accomplish something (cars, computers, watches, etc.)

2. Shall not be infringed and all that, you get the gist

3. I try and be self sufficient as possible, and part of that is having a firearm to put food on the table, and defend myself, so I am less reliant on the supermarkets and police respectively.

Halo: Combat Evolved was the first FPS game I ever played and the pistol in that ruined me to anything else. This would result in an interest in, and later fondness and appreciation for, firearms in general.

I like mechanics. A gun is probably the only object you can buy today that will still function after your children are dead, with minimal maintenance.
And you can get one for less than $300.
There are exceptions. You could buy a fountain pen, or a knife, or a safety razor, an axe, cast iron skillet, a glass, or a blanket.
But most of those have no moving parts, or are fragile.
Think of how many firearms from a hundred years ago exist and are used today.
How many sewing machines or automobiles from that time are in the same functional state?

theyre okay, kinda dangerous and expensive

I mostly just appreciate them in theory and hope every day I never have to use one other than at the range

For me it was Medal of Honor European Assault. It was the first game I played that featured real guns. The pump action shotgun definitely got me. Probably why my shotgun is my favorite gun in my collection.

They have always interested me. Also thought I could meet frens though the hobby. I have been proven wrong on that over the last 11 years sadly.

>making friends with people at the range
Good idea, unless you live in shit state with shit ranges
>make friends with gun enthusiasts online
Bad idea
>make friends with gun enthusiasts at a gun show/convention
REALLY bad idea

I grew up around them, then vidya. I was SUPER into Resident Evil growing up, I still remember the day 2 released, but I still don't have any flavor of 92. I might get one later this year but I don't want to get flippant with my spending, it seems like the more money I make the more money everything costs.

>Good idea, unless you live in shit state with shit ranges
Yeah, NE Ohio doesn't have the greatest range culture.
>Bad idea
I learned this, sadly.
>REALLY bad idea
Never thought to do this, but what are your experiences with that route?

Checked. I haven’t made friends with any gun show guys, but just trying to make conversation with them is impossible. It’s either a salesman that refuses to participate in small talk or some nut job that uses the gun culture as an excuse to act out right extremism fantasies and sell toilet paper with politicians faces on them.

I understand the irony in saying this, but it's because most gun owners are legit awful people
>>
>>65216618
What’s worse,
>finding out most gun owners/collectors are weird sweaty, video game larper, spergs
Or
>that you have a lot in common

wow you sound like a total pussy
