Its kinda ironic, all of it. So women used to really understand herbal medicine. St johns wort, spearmint tea, olive leaf, tumeric etc, all things that soothe ailments, and we still use them today, often pharmaceutical meds are just natural plants but processed.
And this is where the image of the witches cauldron comes from. Now, when you spend a lot of time around steam, this opens the pores which is good for skin, and high heat kills germs, so these medicine women often had great skin. This marked them out as witches. The latter depiction of them has them looking hideous with warts, when the reality was often different. The closest depiction is in games like The Witcher, where they were knowledgeable, beautiful and outcasts (just like trans people now)
My point is, this hatred for others looking pretty, or taking care of themselves has a very long history. Look at the menopause. They cured the menopause! Isnt that incredible, when you think about it. And yet many, many cis women refuse to take hrt, instead needlessly suffering.
Recently a man lost part of his penis due to cancer, it was in the media. Do you know trans medicine helps cis people massively? Ask any ftm thats had phallo, they'd be able to help advise that guy. Instead everyone must suffer, because suffering is virtuous.
