Im using grindr for the first time. I understand I can see like 20 people for free and need to pay for the full catalog, but a lot of people in this free section are about 20 miles. Does the app prioritize distance in the free section or is it random. Like is there any guarantee others will be closer if I pay?

I have paid for grindr before, although it's been a few years since I'm in a relationship now. If you pay, the extended people will still be sorted by distance. You also get a bunch of neat filters.
I don't regret paying for it although I hear the prices have gone up.
