I didn't say that being a woman is awesome though. It does suck. But the option to leave that gender role is way easier for women than for men. The fact is that while men enforce gender roles as much as women do, women do it more so because they grow too attached to the privileges, while men do it more so because they're afraid of the consequences. Again, that doesn't mean there aren't disadvantages associated with being a woman, but they're more intricately tied to the advantages that come with gender performance. When a man falls away from hender performance he's hit with a double whammy of losing all his privilege and retaining all the disadvantages, while women moreso can lose both the advantages and disadvantages.There is a reason that feminism has been around for a century and we still have makeup and the practice of leg shaving. Women make a decision as a group to keep these things because they believe it confers more of an advantage overall.
You can attribute Hillary's loss to misogyny but I think that's overstating the case. In fact she also nearly won because she was a woman. And that's exactly the issue. Misogyny is there, but that's not all.

We also need to keep in mind both female candidates were partyline. They were not populists, which is where we're at as a voter base. If Bernie was a woman, would he have won, is more so the question, and one we can't answer
