>>25306738 It’s kino, brother. One of the writers they commissioned, who also worked on the republic commando books, was a war correspondent. I forget her name, but her halo books are good as well
The chapter pretty much confirms this new artificial life are going to be future enemies in the games/books. Cortana didn't even try to undo any of it.
I actually am listening to the audiobook. I highly recommend it because of all the different people they got to narrate these. I think it was chapter 10, the one with the female Grunt commander, that shit was very fun to listen to.
>>25307521 That's actually one of the things that make me love Halo. You can tell it's pure american propaganda. Sorry if that makes you mad, towel head. lmao
>>25306738 This story was written in 2023. They haven't done much with it. But they didn't release much game content past Infinite anyway. ""And so, I will lay the foundation for a new strategy, one I had always hoped might gain Her full favor. Our kind will have to recalculate our timetables, but this practice is nothing new. Our charge has not changed. The FIREWALL agendum must be set in motion. It will burn hot. It will consume. And when their ephemeral vessels are gone, we shall indeed take that which remains and remake it in our own image."
You know, they probably don't want to steer this franchise in a direction too similar to Mass Effect, that's why the Created didn't take too much space in the story and they introduced another ancient alien species, related to the Forerunner.
>>25307773 The Flood is a great book but spends too much time narrating events from the first game. It kinda pointless if you've already played it. But it's also way better than the game at telling the same story, of course.
>>25306738 Cole protocol is kino. Attestament that Halos IP should be public commons when Microsoft and their gay and retarded studio turn out slop when some of their books stories are vastly superior to anything they've made. Same problem with Disney and Star Wars.
>>25307605 >The Covenant turned out to be so Muslim-like, the Arbiter was literally going to be called "The Dervish" before Bungie got cold-feet It really was a different time.
>>25307930 I read Cole Protocol too (inb4 >>>/lit/). 4/5. Deserves to stand with maybe not the best of milSF but certainly with the finest Kindleslop. I liked Contact Harvest too even if it was headcanon, because it was a Halo author's headcanon. 3/5
I mean... I don't understand how people can still interact with this franchise and not feel pain, anguish and hatred. Watching Halo across time has been like watching a dear friend get raped over and over again... relentlessly... mercilessly... defiled in the most sickening and grotesque ways...
How do you look at the franchise in its current state and not seethe..? Genuinely.
Halo is probably the most white american franchise ever created. Whether that's a good or bad thing I'm not sure, but I can't help cringe when I replay the games and there's so much MARINES OORAH type stuff. The amount of spiky haired dorks in 2007 who probably thought this was so cool and immediately signed up to the military to go die for Israel is hilarious
>>25306738 I liked the old covers better. I’m not sure why the crummy cgi aesthetic of the old covers vibes better with me than these painted illustrations.
>>25314373 Better to stand for something, even if erroneous, than to stand for nothing and laugh at those with principles. A fat retard like you wouldn't understand
>chapter 24 "Saffina awoke. She tried to open her eyes but she had no eyes to see, no arms to move, no legs to kick, no mouth to scream. She was pure consciousness, suspended in some dark, limbo stare"
Pardon, but I've just noticed the image that you've chosen to illustrate your sensory deprivation concept. It is clear to me that this simple cartoon image of yours is based upon a more elaborate version, due to one "S Zenith Lee". Although this particular image is worksafe, S Zenith Lee also trafficks in amputee porn, extreme BDSM and the like.
The notion of being pure consciousness (gradual loss of the use of body parts) is also explored during one episode in the middle of the video game Earthbound. And the hell of it is indicated by the Metallica music video "One". With regard to amputee porn, there is one particular image that I enjoy which depicts a girl (who has clearly been blinded, her eyes are dulled) getting a syringe to her tongue from one fellow as another is about to be penetrated. I like to imagine that the syringe is robbing her of her taste and (possibly) smell, so that in the tableaux, all she has left is her sense of touch, which she must use. Hope that this post helps to expand on the literary notion of helplessness!
>>25314359 So are fiction novels in a series so whatever. Halo games were encapsulated in a story. There's no reason Halo couldn't have expanded into a universe like Star Wars did. Except that both were handled incompetently by successors who didn't understand what they had.
>>25316765 you're right. My school didn't hand out worthless sheets of paper. I took GCSE and A-Levels. Apparently I'm supposed to bow to a fat American fuck like yourself because your teachers boosted you into higher classes every year just because they were sick of your face.
The terminals in the Marathon games have better writing than any Halo novel. That being said, Fall of Reach, Contact Harvest and Ghosts of Onyx are pretty kino. I hate the 343 retcons so I never read anything released after Contact Harvest
>>25323068 Anon I know this is /lit/ but Halo is primarily a video game franchise. That anon is saying the Halo games post 2010 affected his ability to enjoy Halo novels
>>25324554 Girls have told me I'm too ugly to date. Men tell me I'm ugly as fuck too. So yeah, leave me the fuck alone with my videogames. Let those normies deal with muslims and other rape gangs i just care about videogames now.
no other franchise even comes close to me. God of War? I wish, but it has no novels. Sex? I hate sex, top 10 things to avoid. Gears of War? Close but it's not about space. Mass Effect? Died to DEI. Many such cases. Sex 2? Close, but no. I don't know what else there is. But if it exists, it's still not as good as Halo.
>>25307711 The Fifth Head of Cerberus A Canticle For Liebowitz (not amazing but good, if you're a certain kind of person) The Metamorphosis Of Prime Intellect (there is some disgusting edgelord shit at the start, although it has a purpose in establishing the overall message. I only give it a 6/10 for that and some other issues but I'd give Starship Troopers a 7.5/10 for context)
>>25322690 Im getting into the marathon lore because of its recent release and it does seem to be very thought out scifi. I wish there was more sexy Cortina in something.
