Crawford's poetic edda is an okay translation for the casual reader. Edith Hamilton's Mythology has a section on the norse toward the back, past all the greek stuff. The Golden Bough by JG Frazier is a bit all over the shop but you'll find a lot of stuff from the social anthropological perspective.
I've heard good things about Of Gods and Men: Studies in Lithuanian Mythology by Algirdas J. Greimas but I've not read it.
