Foe those who don't know already, shows a manga adaption. I personally no clue how many chapters there are. I thought it seemed cool when I was reading it several years back, but I fell off on it around the time it got liscenced English. If you're at all interested,, give the first few chapters of the manga a chance to see if you like it.

Socially awkward dude asigned to fight space kaiju with his mech who is also his only friend ends up back on earth after being put in stasis for several years, earth is now totalky frozen and has kaiju running around and meets up with a cast of characters who he befriends including one girl that can control a giant tripedal fire chicken kaiju, manga gets batshit where they later fight a humanoid sapient carnotaurus kaiju who calls himself gold coast and has an oversized fancy suit and a peter griffins ballsack chin and considers himself a president of a company entirely ran by sapient kaiju,
Later after that the main mech Yukio gets a kaiju girlfriend called Rutile.
This shit feels like an Overman King Gainer sucessor given the setting and how absurd the abilities and foes get.

So i watched this.
Anyone gets thigns are off with it? Not even the CGI kaijus, that are the lesser issue.
But there's this very strange feeling when the camera rotates Tetsuo, almost like it's cgi but it also isn't. It just feels weird.
I'll keep at it because i read the manga a long ass time ago.

He does care about them, there's a moment later that highlights it. The thing about the MC is that he's a good guy and he hyperfocuses on what he needs to do.

That being said, the manga gives me mixed feelings. I don't dislike it, but it has many issues juggling it's cast, and the kaiju get comically evil as it goes along.

The way stakes keep increasing exponentially. The way the manga does it just doesn't feel right. For example, you're intolroduced to a new category of enemy, but by the next arc they're all completely fodderised, this is then repeated in the following arc.
