Before the National Dismantlement War happened, the world was essentially imploding. Governments facing widespread dissent, military groups defecting and becoming rogue armies, old tensions flaring up. That's likely what happened in Africa, with ethnic wars blooming like in the Balkans back in the day.

>>23793263
It's ass until "oh this is fucking cool" and then it's ass again. Also depends on what weapons you're using. The sequel has a better cool to ass ratio, though some of the design choices are truly baffling.

There's a single player mode you gotta do to unlock more advanced parts and cosmetic item variants, it's basically just you doing missions for corpos + other factions with a reputation system.
And there's also an arcade mode where you can basically use any custom loadout or any presets you got from beating other pilots in the main mission mode

Playing through the Elden Ring dlc right now and boy, do I want more of that but with something mecha oriented. If only From made the same thing but with a Metal Wolf esque minimecha for the player to control instead of playing as just a dude on or off a horse. A lot of the environments already feel like they'd support that kind of a little bigger scale of action. Come on, it'd probably be little more than an asset flip into maybe a more sci fi/sci fantasy direction but I'd consider exchanging a reasonable amount of legal tender just for that.

Well, if I were to be feel frivolous enough to shell out for a piece of plastic whose only purpose would be decorative, I'd rather go for that Aaliyah clone thing that's yet to be out. Still, even then I'd rather it'd an Alicia clone instead.
>>
>>23793688
That looks cool, I've an eye out for it, but it's 30mm line. Full of weird holes, not my cup of tea.
If you like aaliyah or alicia or gen 4 in general, get kotobukiya's. I heard it's a bit fragile and wasn't as rigid as bandai's. It is also very expensive.
The one you dissed out (30mm ac6) actually gave better cheaper price with decent design. Like hg gundam but ac6.

I got bored around the mission when a bunch of jobbers show up in the underground base that ended on a cutscene with the moon or something

Lmao, even gen iv played better plus had good customization

Yeah, kind of not worth it for me. Not to mention that I don't even have enough workspace available that putting things in need of cementing and painting would require.

duskbloods is handled by the D team (new team made for duskbloods and heavily expended during development, so most likely the reason of most new hires)
C team made the ER spinoff, which i believe isn't supposed to receive new updates? so we don't know what they're working on now but it's early into the dev cycle
and then there's A and B team for which we have no info, respectively free since RE dlc and AC6 releases
but considering FMC is supposed to release late 2026 and the dev cycles, it's most likely to be B team
tl;dr we don't know shit

Excuse my autism.
>"Deliver the Tester AC"
>an alternate NG+ mission to "Destroy the Tester AC", and the beginning of an extra Balam route.
Briefing by G6 Red:
>Raven! This request comes from our affiliate, Dafeng.
>The mission is simple- we require a pilot to deliver a sample AC from Dafeng to Balam's Redguns unit.
>It was supposed to be an easy sortie that'd go to our student in training, but we got a lead that Arquebus might be trying to intercept and capture the sample AC in transit, and thus a more experienced pilot would be preferred.
>Unfortunately, all our pilots have their hands full, so we must seek assistance of an independent mercenary. It is not ideal, but you have proven trustworthy so far.
>Remember- the goal of the mission is to deliver the sample AC without letting Arquebus, or anyone else, get their hands on it. Destruction of the AC is a preferrable outcome to it being captured by the third party, so should you try to defect with the machinery, we will have no other choice but to initiate its self-destruction protocol.
>Base pay for the delivery itself will be understandably low, but if our leads were right and you manage to fend off the threat, you will be compensated generously. G6 Red, out.
Mission starts with you in the Tester AC, crucially without the "Main system: activating combat mode" message in the beginning, and thus with weapons locked out. Waypoint is placed at the hut where you ambush the student in the original mission.
>HW: Getting close to the pickup point. It seems that we won't be getting the bonus afterall. But gaining some goodwill with Balam might still be worth it in the long run.
Once you reach the waypoint, a transport helicopter spawns several km away, with a marker placed on it.
>HW: I guess we are early for the rendez-vous. Not much to do but wait. Stay vigilant.
>>
File: POWERAPE2.jpg (990.5 KB)
990.5 KB JPG
>>23799836
At this point, if you just wait, you will get ambushed by an AC:
>A.B. "Wrangler": What are you looking at? Look at me!
While if you explore around the hut, you will find the ambusher first but won't be able to attack him with a weapon before your combat mode initiates (you can still kick him though):
>AB: Aah! My ambush's ruined!
The AC that attacks you, [POWER APE], consists of beat up Basho core and arms and shiny new Nacht head and legs, plus a VP-S generator. Baisic but effective weapon set- Etsujin, Pulse blade (fun with Kikaku), missiles, an empty shoulder slot to go easy on the Tester AC. Very aggressive AI.
>HW: It's a local independent, unranked. But that AC... He's clearly got connections. Don't let your guard down.
When/if AB connects his first melee hit:
>AB: Whoo! These new parts are so much fun!
When AB is down a repair kit:
>AB: If that's a student pilot, then he must be a damn prodigy. But doesn't matter. My POWER APE will crush him regardless!
When AB is down to last repair kit, or if the helicopter comes near, AB switches his focus to it:
>AB: Oh, mama's coming to pick you up? Would you mind if I give her a visit first?
>HW: 621, don't let him down the transport!
If the helicopter is destroyed:
>HW: It seems the delivery has been foiled. 621, await further instructions.
>System: Main system: initializing self-destruct sequence
>HW: Wait, 621, no!..
If player is defeated or self-destructs:
>AB: Good job POWER APE! I'll buy you a bigger gun on the way home. Or a new core?
If AB is destroyed:
>AB: No, no no no, it can't be done already... Arquebus, you betrayed me-e!
>HW: Good job 621. Now, board the transport.
Post-mission:
>G1: Well well, if it isn't Handler Walter! Your latest hound's been on fire lately. Mind if I take it to Redguns' little field trip? We'll toast some good s'mores on its back.
>HW: Not at all.
>G1: Then it's a deal! I'll send in Volta and Iguazu, they'll give your hound a proper Redgun welcome.

I have it sitting in my library but haven't tried the demo yet, I need to. I think a mecha roguelike/lite/whatever the fuck could be fun. I've been playing a lot of Vital Shell recently but that's a Vampire Survivor's clone that doesn't really feel like a mech game. Fun as hell though, I'm hoping the dev is using it as a basis for a more in depth followup because the fantasy mecha aesthetic is cool.

I like the guard(point) and trams am mode. Though your mech is way too fragile
>>
How about weapon arms' gimmick being integrated recoil absorbers or something instead of even more impact/damage, having higher accuracy and allowing you to use high firepower weapons without entering a firing stance while on a biped and completely eliminating recoil while on the specialized legs. That way you still have a reason to use them without having to give them more damage and thus avoiding turning the game into more of a race of who can stagger the enemy the fastest.

I always use weapon arms grenade launcher on the old gen since I don't have to kneel to shoot it if I'm using biped. Quadleg for dual back grenade launcher.
I refuse to be human plus, never was despite having played all the gens.
>>
>>23808535
I only played 6, 4 and For Answer. Really wish the armory mod didn’t tweak enemy stats because they’re all squishy and encourage meta fagging your build with OP weapons when all I want is to play with new parts, it had weapon arms that changed your AC to have no elbows so regular guns are weapon arms.
Also DxM is still ass and I dropped it after the mission where I steak the mech.

For what it's worth, starting with 2AA d-pad was also mirrored to the left stick. Still digital but helps somewhat.

>>23809171
All the ps1 and ps2 titles prior to Nexus have hack versions implementing the right analog camera control lifted straight from it, making the rebinding gymnastics obsolete but still available if you decide that you prefer fully digital controls.

High quality debate right here.
It's pretty much factual no matter how mad it makes you. You just don't want to view it objectively due to bias, but this is the one comparison where they're definitely about on par overall unless you just don't give a shit about the gameplay at all. Even then, oldgens' signature barebones storytelling died with Nexus, so nobody gets any bonus points until that's brought back.

Cut dialogue implies the 002-B you fight in The Womb are not controlled by the LYNX inside. Given what we know about the psychic stress created by the AMS when a NEXT is piloted by a LYNX without sufficient AMS aptitude, there is a non-zero chance that the 002-B's Anatolia's Mercenary fights are controlled by the psychic echoes of the poor souls that got in and were fried alive by the AMS, like it does to CUBE in For Answer. Essentially zombie Armored Cores, piloted by the last, agonized moments of test pilots who can only find release from their torment in the destruction of the machine endlessly replaying them.

one piece of ac6 critique i dont get is that the game punishes you for not using stagger heavy builds
it feels like the opposite, the game is basically beatable with every single weapon and i dont think any builds really struggle
>>
>>23817932
Mmm, some bosses do very much encourage staggering them though, like with the Sea Spider and Ibis
You can beat the game with just about any loadout, but stagger is encouraged somewhat heavily for more erratic or bulky bosses since otherwise you have to do a lot of chasing/bullet hell evading.
>>
>>23817932
>the game is basically beatable with every single weapon and i dont think any builds really struggle
yea but that only works for anyone who knows what they're doing. Most newfags don't know what they're doing.
>>
>>23817932
There's a couple of builds that do not engage with stagger at all (I built a nacht with two laser rifles and the EN Spec meme generators and it melts health faster than it melts stagger.)
That being said, it does not feel intended whatsoever. Like, voicelines break, encounters feel weird and cheesy, the flow of combat is just strafing and backpedaling, certain encounters just feel like mashing buttons until one guy or the other runs out of AP, as bosses rarely pause or falter in any way outside of the stagger meter.
It isn't so much you're punished for *not* going for stagger, it's that the game itself doesn't feel like it supports staggerless gameplay at all. It feels more like an exploit than a mechanic which is really weird for an Armored Core game.
