Here's a quick catbox for those that can't open comic walker for some reason.
files.catbox.moe/ty3mpi.zip

Long first chapter, but surprisingly very scant on dialogue and focuses more on action. So its very easy to follow even if you have little to no moonspeak knowledge. Only like 20% of the pages have dialogue, so I can do a quick TL of the pages with speech bubbles.

That was the last page of the first chapter btw.

Really good first chapter imo. Simulates the experience of utterly getting wrecked and having your shit kicked in because you have shit gear and aren't familiar with the controls yet.
Nykken did a great job with the art. I have no complaints at all about the mecha designs nor the desolate superstructure environments carried over into manga form.

Though the chapter was a bit too somber and depressing for my tastes, which to be fair was the general tone of the game too, but remember that this was also a game with a bunch of wacky melee retards and a bunch of autists that snorted so much rocket fuel they blew up their entire colony. There's also a silly and whimsical angle to the game too. Seedling-chan seems like an emotionless retard, but I guess it's gonna be a later plot point on how she'll develop her personality more as she interacts with the various NPCs in the game proper. Things should probably lighten up considerably once Yoyo enters the picture.

People kept comparing the environment to Blame! in the games, but now that its a manga, you really see it in full view. Did the mangaka work have a stint as Tsutomu Nihei's assistant or something?

Also, Seedling-chan a cute. Kinda hoping that she does a bad end to all questlines playthrough in the manga just to see her get broken down more.

Does the game's level design get more interesting from the demo? The mechanics were cool but it just felt like a bunch of giant empty spaces.

>>
>>23810744
Lonely desolate superstructures and the megalophobia that comes with it is a key part of the aesthetic of the game, so if you don't jive with stuff like that, you won't like the general atmosphere of the game.
Not sure where the Demo ends. Is it just the Central Caverns? Is so, then the other main areas do at least offer more variety. You get some smaller winding dungeons that loops back into earlier areas just like the Souls games too.

Manga Seedling-chan already looks like a husk that's dead inside. If they follow that particular path for the quest as the manga canon, then I think that's gonna be what finally makes her fucking snap for good. It's a good springboard for her to go for the kill Nehma and replace her ending.

But man, I'd like a post-apocalyptic mecha girl series to not head into the misery porn route.
>>
>>23795033
Wait, didn't the player Seedling refer to Nehma as "Mother" in the game or did I just hallucinate that? Manga Seedling seems to call Nehma "Aruji" so, Master.
>>
>>23813709
With the scarce few dialogue options you have during your interactions with Nehma, I remember some early one where you can call her either master (which I never had my little murderbird do) or just by name. I don't remember a word mother being as much as mentioned anywhere, in english at least.

Chapter 2 part 1 is now out. I guess they're doing the "Monthly manga technically, but we're splitting the chapters and acting like its a bimonthly series so that we're getting two chapters per month" meme here.

Catbox: https://files.catbox.moe/4rcwcu.zip

Massive departure from the lonely and empty first chapter. We finally get lots of lore and clarification regarding the setting. Won't translate everything this time, since there's lots of pages that you can still generally tell what's going on and so I'll just focus on the more lore heavy and notable parts.

First look we have at an actual active Colony Queen.

We already heard about them in-game, but Colony Queens are giant tree-like organisms that give birth to multiple Nymphs at once. I'm fairly certain that Nehma also talks about it in-game, but exposition here explains (and just to double down on the Robot Antgirl Comparison) that Nymphs are born into classes of Combat Types, Engineer Types and Standard Types.

And judging by the Frames and Seifuku Uniforms, this is Queen Gardina.

I forgot if Gilli-Vell had an epithet in the game or if that was just a unique rank within Gypro-Verde military but she was referred to as "千翅長" by the chonky gippyverdy tank Nymph. Not really sure how to translate this rank/epithet so make do with this.
Also, in Nymph society, their slurs are apparently insect themed as said Nymph cursed the Gardiniggers by calling them "羽蟲" (Winged Insects), which I just chose to render as "flies".

>You got what that washed-up loser was saying?

>Do you seriously think I care about what a Gypro-Verde has to say?

I don't have a thesaurus to make it come across better, but in JP, the Gardinigger on the right used words that emphasized that the Gypro-Verde Nymph was old and on the losing side of a war. If you remember, Gardina was founded by a Nymph that split off from Gypro-Verde and eventually backstabbed them during a Variant invasion. The typical Gardina Nymph is brainwashed with an innate hatred and sense of superiority over Nymphs from their parent Colony. You might've pieced this together if you lorefagged and read the items in the game. But the manga really just shows the enmity between the two colonies up front.

I remember the combat and engineer ones but what were the standard ones again? General population? Weren't the combat types kind of filling that role too? I don't remember there being anything about them in the game, unless they were supposed to be the not explicitly combat purpose stragglers like that one merchant that gets offed off screen. And to clarify, is the manga just general retelling of the events of the game or is it going to trail off into its own thing at some point?

>Err.... right, Middle levels...

>Let's see now.... if I use Gardina syntax... can she understand...?

>Uhm.... are you...

>Are you gonna do bad things to me...?

Interesting point only shown in the manga thus far. So apparently, Nymph languages differ depending on from which level they're from. The Gypro-Verde and Gardiniggers Nymphs seem to understand each other, so there's probably a common language in the middle levels (And the fact that they were literally the same colony once helps I suppose) but Hati, someone from the upper levels might as well be speaking alien to Yoyo. At least until she went multilingual on her.

It's also funny to think that the Nagara Nymphs probably just fucking spoke Japanese.

>Since you went out of your way to help me... could you also be a follower of the goddess? ... No, I suppose not. There were many a mission to the middle levels, but not a single once succeeded. Many missionaries never even managed to return.

>We of Alqand; and Gardina, which dominates the middle levels are currently locked in a senseless cycle of killing each other. And even back home, there are now even some bishops preaching that we will never be able to see eye to eye with the Nymphs of the Middle Levels and how they are fundamentally different beings that will never understand the love of the Goddess.

>And yet here I am, in the middle of experiencing this. Whether it be doctrine or the words of the bishop, things don't seem to be the way they claim to be. While it certainly is true that our faith has not reached the hearts of those in the middle levels, something akin to devotion is already here.

Too bad, I can already smell levels of drama and misery unprecedented in the game. I can only hope that the action and zoomed out, panning shots of looming, Niheiesque megastructures will reach even half of that.
>>
I'll read it later.
I actually loved the game.

I wonder how much of the expanded bits in the manga are actually new stuff made for the manga, or stuff that was originally in the game but got cut out due to the game already running on a budget composed of a wet cum rag and hopes and dreams.

Ant girls were made for human enjoyment, even if they don't realize it their instincts don't lie. Just look at how they dress. Being an ant girl's "pet" would just result in the entire nest bending over backwards to try to curry your favor. They'd try to rationalize it away of course, but the truth is clear.

To add to this, notice how Yoyo's sister is explicitly shown to have her eyes obscured by her bangs. Almost like to highlight that later in her life, this would be a standard look for said Nymph.
And you now remember that Yodo in the games was stated to be blind. Which seems like an odd detail at first, but then you also remember Yoyo claimed to be part of a "defective" batch of Nymphs. And the manga clearly showed that she wasn't the only Nymph in said batch...

It's literally a passion/vanity project that they put out priced for peanuts, that the devs are still working on (they're trying to figure out PVP right now). I doubt there were any real budget or timing constraints.
>>
>>23814405
>>23814491
It's most certainly a passion project by the mecha autists at Nitroplus. The game was actually delayed by like half a year. There were certainly some cuts made and some level of corporate entities holding a gun behind their back to release the game as soon as they can.

I'm just glad the game is enjoying the niche/cult following its getting. Most of the fans seems to be Mecha Musumefags and Gen 1-3 AC oldfags. The manga art is really good too, you can tell that the mangaka has a love for the aesthetic of the genre. I'm also unironically invested in the setting. I'd even pay if Nitroplus releases one of their more conventional VNs, but have it take place in the Dolls Nest setting.

>crumbling megastructure
>crumbling megastructure (desert)
>crumbling megastructure (swamp)
>crumbling megastructure (city)
>crumbling megastructure (electric)
>crumbling megastructure (water)
>crumbling megastructure (dark)
There's variation but if you don't like crumbling megastructures then you're not going to like the game.
>>
Thanks for the work TL and dump anon, but something tells me you don't particularly like Gardina.
>>
>>23814014
The in-game lore for the items actually say that the preferred way of Gardina soldiers to deal with Gypro-Verde stragglers was using flame or incendiary weapons to burn and cook the Gypro-Verde Nymphs alive within their heavily armored tank frames.
The fact that these Gardina Nymphs quickly executed this thicc Gypro-Verde Nymph with a Potato God to the face means that believe or not, this is probably one of the nicer Gardina Squadrons.

Look man, what I want is Katamari Damacy with little robot girls.

I want Robot Alchemic Drive where I am the giant robot and I'm sending out a tiny, flying humanoid to do my biddings. Make it an auto-battler where I just give commands and directions or something, while you're at it. I wanna cheer on my tiny robot doing its best here.

The Pilebunker Arms.
It's goofy production line name made people read it as "Potato God" just for ease of referring to during threads at release month.

I really hope this manga goes all in on the backstory, i know poeple want to see the seedling we play as but i am way more interested on what happened before. Gotta say the Fromsoft gimmick of all-the-lore-in-item-descriptions-fuck-in-game-exposition is one of my favorite things to come from them.

>tfw this is where Yoyo got the tank and cannon parts she sells to you
You're now imagining Yoyo scraping exploded Nymph remains from these abandoned frames just so that she can jew you out of your hard earned cells.
>>
>>23815795
>so that she can jew you
At least she's putting some honest work into it instead of, I don't know, subverting her mother colony, plotting genocide or whatever. If anything, she's probably your greatest ally in the game.
>>
>>23815838
> instead of, I don't know, subverting her mother colony, plotting genocide or whatever.
It's just a matter of time really. Filthy Gardina blood flows through her.

Whats the chance of the game coming to consoles? My pc is an old toaster...
>>
>>23816303
wadda ya mean, its on P-
>its been pc only this whole time
well fuck me, thats weird
>>
>>23816303
None? Nitroplus makes VNs, those don't sell well on consoles.
>>
>>23814063
I may be overthinking this, but isn't it weird for the artificial sun in Alqand to be there? If it's so close to the surface already, then why not just use the actual goddamn sun. Just blow a hole in the fucking ceiling.
Or is the "Upper Levels" of Hod still way deep into that hole/crater in the planet and so said upper levels aren't still anywhere near the surface?
>>
Which anime?
>>
>>23816303
About the same chance they release Saya no Uta or Kishin Hishou Demonbane on Switch
>>
>>23816552
That pic is off, the sun is part of a huge megastructure encompassing it, and the pic suggests there's a huge floating thing above the cathedral (you can see the lothric staircase below it) when it's way far off nowhere close to it in the game. Not sure if everything the manga does can be considered canon.
>>
>>23816519
This isn't a VN, their rabbit game nobody cares about was multiplat, and there are plenty of VNs on consoles. Are you drunk or just stupid?
>>
>>23816663
>Are Nitroplus drunk or just stupid?
why do they fucking promote old games on twitter with the note "lol the game doesn't work on windows 11, or even 10, make sure to install windows XP"
>>
>>23814047
Damn, hati has a dumptruck
>>
>>23816657
>>23816552
For one thing, Hati says that her explanation is a generalized simplification. She's literally putting things as simple as she can for a peanut brain like Yoyo. I don't really think that the illustration is to scale with how big the stuff in Hod really is.

Nehma, the de facto god and head admin of Hod even says in the game that she isn't quite sure of how big Hod even is at this point. Implying that:
a.) There's still a lot of unexplored parts of Hod
b.) It's possibly still growing and expanding due to the whole sentient Cells/Nanomachine thing.
>>
>>23816712
Scale yeah but you'd think the placement of things ought to be right. The sun isn't supposed to be on its own like that
>>
>>23816712
>>23816715
Yeah, the mangaka dun goofed on this one. Alqand's Artificial Sun is supposed to be held up by that Floating structure in the sky.
Eh, these things happen. I imagine he just remembered that Alqand did have a sun and half-assedly drew one on its skies while forgetting that it was supposed to be held by the floating sky structure (which he did remember to draw). If it is a fuckup, it'll be corrected in the Full/Tankoubon release.
>>
>>23816745
Oh right. Forgot about that.
Also man, Alqand does look like a comfy place to live in. At least compared to the rest of the shithole that is Hod. Almost makes tolerating the religious inquisition breathing down your neck worth it.
>>
>>23816752
>Alqand does look like a comfy place to live in.
Sure, but then they force everyone to wear the slutty nun robes.
>>
>>23816552
>>23816657
>>23816745
I tried to bullshit my way to see this thing up close. Even after crossing the initial invisible wall encompassing that level, there's another one a lot further out there that I couldn't get through. Still this thing's not only pretty massive but also really far away. If you think about Hod as a huge concrete tube that's as much standing erect in the middle of bumfuck nowhere as it is thrusting deep into the seemingly infertile soil (don't remember seeing as much as a hint of vegetation anywhere around it), it's got some impressive girth to it. I sure hope that either a dlc or a sequel will take the player seedling on a climb further up towards the tip.

>>23816768
What's not comfy about slutty nun robes? They should've used the latex full bodysuit version of nun robes instead.
>>
>>23816768
Imagine Hati with her thick dump truck ass wearing this while not on a mission.
>>
>>23816772
Yeah which makes it even weirder because the mangaka depicts that megastructure as floating right above the cathedral with the sun far off
>>
>>23816787
The mangaka seems to have misinterpreted the Alquand sun as the kind that's romantically setting over the horizon instead of an artificial object arguably doing the same from a metaphysical standpoint. I guess we'll see if that gets cleaned up. Technically it still can be where it is in the game, just obscured by the building in the middle, while the sun in sky is the actual sun.
>>
>>23816794
>while the sun in sky is the actual sun.
..................in a deep dark hole underground?
>>
>>23816868
Alqand sticks out up a good deal over the surface, with the megustructure continuing up with basically no visible support. I think the area with the four invisible variants spawning shotgun drones is more or less on the surface level. When you take a good look around, it's the lowest playable area that's not completely built over.
>>
>>23816881
>Alqand sticks out up a good deal over the surface
No it doesn't. It's still underground in the hole. It's only illuminated by the artificial sun. Why would they even need an artificial sun if they weren't underground?

Doing a lorefag dive into the various Frames/items on this new playthrough I'm doing.
I find it funny that literally all Rocket Type Legs were made by Porokka, the Rocket Fuel snorting colony. I can already imagine their RnD with one Porokkan Nymph smoking a huge blunt going: "Guys, wouldn't it be fucking cool if we replaced our legs with giant fuckin' thrusters" and all the other autistic engineers declaring that it was a fucking brilliant idea.

Also, some of the frame descriptions can get hilariously 40k. There's was this one Heavy Alqand Quad Leg that went: "With this frame, one becomes a walking temple purging all sin in its wake."
>>
>>23814039
Huh. So Alqand-speak is some kind of broken or machine-translated ancient/classic Greek.
>>
>>23814005
Does that mean that the big tree at the center of the arboreal nest was a dead queen?
>>
>>23816768
Let's look at the other options.

Lower Levels?
99% of Nymphs are dead, what few remaining Nymphs there are most definitely insane and ridden with all flavors of PTSD and you will spend every waking hour fighting off Nanomachine Necromorphs and Cyber skinwalkers puppeteering the corpses of your friends and loved ones.

Middle Levels?
Stuck in a never ending war where tiredness is breakfast, war crimes your lunch and death is your evening meal. Dominant power is a murderhobo colony and even if you're from said murderhobo colony, you're not exempt from being culled by your own Queen if she decides it necessary.

If the remaining option is the Upper Levels, then sign me the fuck up for the lewd church robes and I'll be the good little Nymph prayer slut of some horny Alqand Bishop. The alternatives are so shit that it's infinitely better than life below. And besides, you get cool Flying Frames.

>>23818162
Possibly just an old node tree or possibly the remains of one of the Queens of the older colonies in the Middle Levels. I wouldn't discount it being the corpse of Queen Gypro-Verde, but I doubt that since most of the places we go through in the Middle Levels seem to be Gardina territory. (There's also the theory that the main hub tree in the Broodchamber is the corpse of Queen Arvud herself. Remember that the place is literally called "Broodchamber").

Grrr, this is what happens when you let brats play with mechs! Need urgent correction!

What I really want from this manga is backstory for the bosses. I need to know why are people like the Unidentified Frame Unit, the Gank Squad and NAGARA TOTSUGEKI where they are and why do they hate us
>>
>>23819061
The gank squad was just guarding a warehouse when you fuck them up.
>>
>>23819061
> the Gank Squad
Just Gardiniggers being Gardiniggers. i.e. kill any Nymph that isn't a Gardinigger. You were also kinda invading their warehouse, so that's even more reason to kill you.

>NAGARA TOTSUGEKI
She was the last honoraburu guardian of Nagara. What I want clarified was whether she was guarding to keep outsiders from the remains of Nagara out, or if she was trying to keep the variant horde in and make the sacrifice of her brethren not in vain.
If its the latter, then hoo boy we kinda fucked up this one real bad huh.
>>
Gardina did nothing wrong. If they other nests didn't want to get got they shouldn't have lost.
>>
>yoyo has no scent
Wait. Didn't another assassin nymph have that too?
>>
>>23819411
Yes. The manga really dives into not so subtle foreshadowing especially since the manga confirms that Yoyo is from Gardina.
>>23814090
>>23814473

I imagine that Queen Gardina thought that instead of killing the defective Nymph batch, they could probably be repurposed into becoming some kind of glowie black ops squadron.
>>
>>23819411
yes yodo who has hair covering one eye like yoyo's twin sister also has no scent
