To be fair, porting arcade games to consoles was a very strange trend during the 1990s to mid 2000s. Normally arcade games stay in the arcade to keep customers coming to the arcade and spending money.
The only reason they experimented with putting arcade games on consoles was because game companies thought people would spend money on buying the console game AND go to the arcade too. For example, practicing Street Fighter at home on console and then going to the arcade to play against friends. But this was a mistake. What ended up happening was people just bought the console version and stayed home. They stopped going to the arcade.
Also the home console versions were not as profitable as selling arcade machines. So they stopped making home arcade ports. That's why companies like Konami only release DDR for arcades. Selling a $25,000 arcade machine to businesses (like Round1, Dave and Busters, etc) is MUCH more profitable than selling a $60 dollar home console game.

I recall watching a video from Harada (Tekken director) about his experience at Bamco trying to port arcade versions of Tekken to home consoles. BN's arcade division and home console division are separate tax entities and directly sharing resources and person at no cost is illegal. Attempting to do so would require paying licensing fees, signing contracts, etc. This means the business effectively has to tax itself in order to transfer IP from one division to another. What does this mean for the game? It means most if not all of it needs to be built from the ground up.

to be fair, they already have this, GUNDAM VERSUS has no relation to the arcade version besides the fact that EXVS2 is partially built from it, they could in theory continue that with its focus on more grunt and low end MS as opposed to how EXVS's roster is

While it's true they could build effectively a new game out of it while maintaining the IP, that still makes it a difficult business choice in terms of product differentiation to avoid cannibalization (rather than straight up cannibalization). BN's business strategy is clear as day in every single report. They want to capitalize on their big name brands by cyclically feeding customers through from one medium to another.

This is because Bandai is a very stingy company and does everything single thing it can to avoid paying taxes. Even if that means making it much harder for employees to do their job. You need to understand Japanese business culture. They have a death grip on money, and are very conservative. They are unwilling to take any risks either.
So innovation doesn't happen in Japan. It's why they never created their own version of Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, etc. All those companies required risky investment to create them.

EXVS 2 will not get an official home port until EXVS 3 or whatever they call the next game is released, mark my words.
The reason? Money. Sure there's a lot of red tape and complexities with porting a licensed media game to the home market, but that can be taken care of with time. The real reason is always money. Not only does an arcade operator have to make the investment of four cabs + a satellite terminal just to get the game in their arcade, but Bamco also takes huge royalties out of every yen those cabs bring in. They don't want to risk the possibility of a home release cutting that profit down even by 1%

For getting a Banapass, any of the big arcade chains in Japan will have a vending machine where you can buy them, they cost about $5. A Nesica (Taito), E-Amusement (Konami) or Aime (Sega) card will also work so long as it has the little Amusement IC logo on the card. (In pic related, it's the icon on the bottom left). You can also use these AIC cards on games from those other companies.
A card isn't necessary to play, but it's used to save your records and progression. There's unlocks and online rankings and whatnot. A lot of arcade games over there have em nowadays. You can also register your Banapass online so if you lose it later, you can transfer all of your data to a new card.

So long as they have the Amusement IC logo they'll work on any game that supports Amusement IC (The card scanner will also have the logo). But do note that there are non-amusement IC cards still in circulation (or at least there were when I visited a few years ago). For example the blue Nesica cards are not compatible with Amusement IC, but the red Nesica cards are.

Serious question, but how do I get good at Maxiboost bros? Besides just playing a lot. I only want to be able to kick ass with my waifu. I am absolutely terrible and have no experince at these kinds of games though. It feels really clunky to me.
