A fucking variable flight MS that turns into a Ballerina with literal VSBR legs is still one of the sickest designs in Hasegawa's wild rides. It's right up there with the Fedora Freddy Kreuger MS that is the Desphys.
Honestly, I've seen lots of people shit on the Thoucus designs, but aside from the last one that's just all of them cobbled together and the one that's literally just a Dogu doll with guns and thrusters glued on to it, all of them are pretty nice.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCMk6ty8Rjg
The fan animated Ghost PV shows that in motion and treated with the right amount of cool dynamism, they all look pretty nice.

The Kirjarugu is unironically one of the coolest UC designs ever. If there are people that love wanking off the Gaia from Seed, then I'm allowed to love the suit that turns from a chonky suit that looks like its wearing an Executioner Hood, into a goddamn Lion.

Why would mobile suits go back to having simpler one-screen monitor cockpits (as shown in G-Saviour) when 360 degree view cockpits have been the industry standard since the 0080s? The 360 degree view cockpits were in every mobile suit shown in Victory where the Federation is effectively falling apart. Technology/industry devolving due to numerous wars and crises argument doesn't make sense considering that humanity had enough industrial capacity to build a whole new Side, as well as the fact that the OYW, Operation Stardust and the Gryps Conflict were far more destructive on a larger scale than whatever was shown in later UC. If the situation that lead to the formation of CONSENT and others was so dire that it basically nuked technological progress to the point where people had to repurpose older suits, then by the time of the 220s there would have been far more unused 360 degree cockpit MSs than one monitor ones.
>>
>>
>>23805138
IIRC it's not because of loss of technology, it's because of lack of experience. Pilots from the old wars are long dead and the overwhelming bulk of modern day pilots wouldn't have any practical training with getting accustomed to a panoramic monitor. Even if it's overall better and easier to use once you're familiarized with it, regular screens are more immediately intuitive.
>>
>>
The actual answer here is that G-saviour was built on a budget of dreams and shoestrings so they didn't really bother hammering out all the technical details.
In Crossbone Seerauber, which is furthest UC entry in the timeline short of G-saviour (or Gaia Gear) everyone was still using Panoramic Monitors as standard MS interface hardware. There's no reason why these things suddenly became obsolete or hard to make after a literal century of them being standard installations in mobile suits. If we ever get back to the G-saviour era, I imagine we'll retcons and see Panoramic Monitors again.
Wanna talk weird cockpit stuff that they pretend never happened? Whatever happened to those arm sphere control things we see in CCA? Something Rakers they're called. But in just about every other UC stuff we see after CCA, everyone is back to standard cockpit controls with sticks and switches and all that.
>>
>>
>>23805158
Arm rakers were cool, but animation budgets of tv shows dont match CCA and sticks are much easier to draw
What really pisses me off is trying to shoehorn touchscreen phone design into the controls in Unicorn. That is going to date it harder than the analog controls of the rest of the series (which will always be the standard for military equipment)
>>
>>23805161
>makes shit up
Show me actual in-universe documentation of people losing schematics of Panoramic Monitors then anon. No amount of economic hardships will destroy technology that is already widely implemented by that point.
It's like saying the 2008 economic crisis made LCD/Plasma/OLED monitors unable to be reproduced by 99% of the population and so everyone and technology everywhere had to readapt to using CRT monitors once again.
>>
>>23805158
Pretty sure that the Xi from the Hathaway movies also still used Arm Rakers.
But jokes aside, it is silly to think that Panoramic Monitors apparently became obsolete/difficult technology in super late-UC. By UC 220, Panoramic Monitors is a 130+ year old piece of technology. Even considering harder times and logistics, it's a bit goofy to think that producing mobile suits is still feasible but apparently fancy monitors are too hard an ask?
>>
>>
>>23805158
>Whatever happened to those arm sphere control things we see in CCA?
It was harder to animate than the levers so they dropped the idea after CCA.
They came up with a lore reason though. In universe pilots suffered from losing their grip on the arm raker when the pilot was jolted pretty hard. The ones that survived the mishaps complained loudly to MS engineers so they reverted controls to joysticks and levers that could be gripped.
>>
>>23805185
Does Okawara also go into depth about the internals/cockpit though?
Same reason you have people here saying that they just dropped Arm Rakers because they were a pain in the ass to draw/animate.
We don't see Panoramic Monitors in G-saviour, not because of some kind of logistical collapse, but because doing fancy shit like that in live action in a 1999 movie that already barely has a budget just isn't financially feasible.
>>
>>23805158
Sunrise designed G-Saviours setting with the clear intent of a technological regression, what Hasegawa unilaterally pulled out of his ass decades later doesnt change that since Sunrise works always take precedence over manga
>>
>>23805168
>2008 economic crisis
The collapse in between Victory and Dust was more akin to the fall of Western Rome, the Byzantines, or one of the many dynasties of Egypt or China. It was a total economic, political, and societal collapse into a dark age. It's like Lostek in Battletech
>>
>>23805194
Well, yeah. It's all mechanical design. Literally his exact job.
Maybe you're right, but you could easily be making up so unless there's some kind interview or other material stating it the whole discussion is moot.
Regardless, the in-universe explanation for Arm Rakers being largely dropped as quickly as they were adopted is because while they do allow for quicker reactions as everything is literally at your fingertips it's also easier to get your arms hurt when attacked while holding onto them. Not a good trade for the vast majority so the setup only rarely pops up.
>>
>>
>>
>>23805147
>>23805199
>technological regression
What kind of logistical and economic breakdown at some point between the 150s-220s causes a technological regression that undos the industry standard that's been unchanged for about 100 years but keeps the capability to build and maintain a whole new group of colonies?
>>
>>
>>23805291
I watched it. Nothing in it points to a collapse of that scale. The Earth is basically a ghost town outside a handful of designated cities but most of humanity (including the Feddie government) is in space and on the Moon. The colonies that were shown in Victory didn't seem to have any serious issues aside from insane totalitarian governments. Infrastructure and engineering companies worked normally.
>>
>>23805289
You realize the tech to build O'neill Cylinder colonies was available in the 1970s?
We also had electric cars in the 1920s
Videophones in the 40s
Technology is not a linear line. It goes back and forth and many factors contribute to it being adopted, lost or just dropped

They are. I mean, if you can't tell from the highly stilted dialogue idk what else to tell you. It's same guys that tried middle fingering Zeonic with Valpurgis (and failing)... They roped in the Sequel TL dude but I think he's MTL too since Pulitzer has really dumb simple translation errors like Captain Amuro and Bunch... Which you very much get from Google and deepL (I read novels that way).
They all suck one way or another, even the famed Zeonic

He was a fucking lieutenant in both. Taii has always been translated as Lieutenant across the official releases. If the dumbfuck translator can't look that up easily enough. Well. Even the wiki is right.
Bunch hasnt been used since the Zeta VHS fansubs because they didn't know any better. You think Gundam Official called it the 30 Bunch Incident? Fuck no. Literally no one has used Bunch. Even origin uses Banchi which makes far more sense than Bunch

>>
>>23807995
I like Crossbone overall and its overall storyline. I just think Hasegawa was the wrong guy for it because his writing and original characters always gravitate towards super robot or captain harlock. He snaps back to real robot, but will start to drift again.
It did give us funny shit like newtype chimps piloting chimp Zakus, a kid 1v1’ing a ms in a space gladiator arena and winning, the ball gundam story causing a chain of events that made Solomon fall and influencing the size of the Zeong (it was all probably a tall tale by that old pilot), the pirate themed ms and ships, the MS with a fedora, and now people eating mobile suits

The closest so far is that one episode of MS Igloo 2 where some Feddies early in the war ran around on a jeep with a large mounted ATM luring Zaku II F types unaccustomed to Earth's gravity and environment into places with large pitfalls and when the Zaku slipped into one they'd nail the cockpit with the ATM.
I would like to see it too, though. You would think that late UC would have more examples of it due to the smaller MS sizes and various factions wanting to expend less resources

>I run a Patreon and thus "violate" their "corporate" rules so I was blocked from uploading. According to their clearly cut and paste legalise, I'm "competing" with them
I fucking hate Deacon and love to laugh at his own jewery getting screwed over, but lmao at Mangadex for this too. For literal years now, a bunch of groups have been shilling their patreons, paypal, shitcoin wallets etc as a way for begging for money and they didn't mind. Now apparently its not allowed? I hate begging for donations/money, but its one of those things that I just learned to ignore and have more or less accepted as a permanent part of the scene.
Mangadex is really speedrunning its own destruction huh.
>>
>>23811075
Zeonic has a history of being an absolute arse with an ego the size of a colony but he does do good work and I can't really blame him for having a patreon, I'd do the same thing lol
And at least this mess looks to be firmly on mangadex's side which really shouldn't surprise anyone, the site has been killing itself or like a year if not much longer
>>
>>23811075
baka all niggas just wanting a handout and a handjob nowadays
why can't they just do professional work in exchange for likes and prayers like before? learn to fill your stomach with thankyous instead of starbucks, the fucking state of things nowadays
>>
>>23811077
My first experience with him was hearing him on a podcast and he never came off that way. Guess he sounds like a dick in text format more than anything
>>23811100
Are likes and prayers going to buy the material you get to take in for free? Put food on the table? Gundam media is hardly pirated anymore so even relying on free raws is impossible.
>>23811075
How's he getting screwed over? Now he has no incentive to post anywhere other than Patreon. It's us relying on him that get screwed. Dex went corporate that's why they're against it. Four groups that ask for stuff (not the shit coin variety) got nuked on there because of them. And now they've stopped scanlating entirely. So fuck Dex
>>
>>23811075
Dex mods say he threw a tantrum and it was never about him having a Patreon but because he was hoarding chapters instead of posting there... So it was about his Patreon, but they won't say it was.
Rando mod is butthurt and is extending Zeonic an olive branch. Guess his purge hurt them somehow. Dunno who to believe on either side. Either Zeon is lying and wanted attention or dex is losing audience from lack of Gundamn
>>
>>23811122
>Put food on the table?
Work a real fucking job then.
I'm not against people opening a "gib money pls :(" side hustle for their work, but I come from and participated in the era when people do fan projects like this for passion and love of the thing. Rather than beg for money, we redirected them to avenues where the original creators can reap the benefits instead of us.
If you gotta do it because you're one missed paycheck away from sucking dicks in a back alley, then do what you need I guess. But beggars will always be lesser in my eyes than people who do it for the love of the game and doesn't ask for anything.
>How's he getting screwed over?
For better or for worse, Dex offers exposure. It's the most popular hub for scanlations. You think the people that still upload on Dex do it because they love the site?
>>
>>23811100
this is satire right
>>23811128
oh god it's not
Simple question: did you ever work on fan projects like that for nothing at all?
>>
>>
>>23811129
>did you ever work on fan projects like that for nothing at all?
Yes. All the people in our group did it for the love of the very thing. We pitched in using our own wallets to win an auction for some out of print book and to cover the importation fees too. We never did commissions, and just worked on the stuff we liked. Not once have we ever taken any money from our audience.
I have no plans on e-celeb fagging so I'm not gonna say which stuff we worked on. So feel free to hit me with the "proof or gtfo" hammer if you want, I don't have to prove shit.
And in any case, I already said that if you gotta beg for money, then do so if you're really in dire straits. But I will hold you in lesser opinion than those that don't.
>>
>>
>>
>>23811124
>but because he was hoarding chapters instead of posting there
I mean, so? Far be it from to defend that faggot Zeonic, and I agree that Hoarding chapters is fucking gay, but uploaders having control of what actually gets uploaded is what makes an open community like Mangadex what it is.
Hoard some chapters in your own site/paywall? Then get fucked and sniped by some other group that wants to try their hand at that series. That's how the site works. There's no hard rule only one entity can handle a series. There's also plenty of other groups that have shameless kofi/patreon shilling stuck in their release on the Dex that remains unpurged. I'm not taking a side here because I think both Zeonic and Dex Mods are fags, but this reeks to me of far less a disagreement between site policies and more on a bitch fight between egotripping dipshits.
>>
>>23811128
Don't think Zeonic needs the exposure. I'm an old fart and the dude has been around for a couple decades. Torrenting was his go-to back in the day, not some corporate manga hustler site. He did this shit for free and only started asking for money like maybe the last five years? Not gonna lie, we see way more from him with money rolling in so I'm not complaining. Generosity has its limits, that much is for sure. Plus, it's not like his shit doesn't end up freely available in the end, whether it's him or a Patreon leech. Doesn't suit you, that's fine. Don't read his material then, not that hard. I ignore the paycoin scammers and wait for pirates of the pirates. Simple.
>>23811137
It was probably a dogshit release no one cares about anyway. If you're expecting ghost felatio you're in the wrong place.
>>
>>23811131
Dude already has one. And he's still plenty slow.
>>23811162
Near as I can tell someone who took a stab at a volume that Zeonic didn't release got their panties in a bunch when their MTL slop got jumped by Z dumping an entire volume and the gatekeeping and hoarding commentary was tossed around. Shits been pirated since last year on the usual Patreon sniper sites so dunno why they just didn't steal that and upload it. Zeonic says on the forum he had a request to take down three titles and then just killed everything for whatever other reason. Dunno how screwing us readers is an ego trip when he has to listen to us asking for titles.
GIVE ME ORIGINAL CROSSBONE BACK DEACON. I KNOW YOU FUCKING HATE IT
>>
>>
>>23811168
>If you're expecting ghost felatio you're in the wrong place.
Funny how you throw that insult at me when my entire platform is being of the crowd of fan projects that want as little obligation and interaction from the audience as possible. We release stuff we ourselves were interested in, audience reads it. Simple as. If you're so eager to talk about Ghost Blowjobs, just look at your own post because you're already deepthroating Deacon over there.
But shit's gotten way too off-topic already. If you're the type that needs to get the last word in, then give me the one last (You) that calls me a faggot and let this shit end here lest mods (if any of them actually still exist on /m/) purge the thread.
>>
>>
>>23811183
Now you're blowing yourself. Fucking pathetic. Take that shit somewhere else. Also, lol at expecting mods here. You must be a lying newfag.

I don't mind a begging page (hate the groups that put it on the real pages), but I will back you up here. I used to be a fansub encoder and the most my group ever begged for was like $40/mo to cover the XDCC and torrent seed boxes for our releases. I bought over the years like $800 in Bluray disks for that group and got nothing money wise back.

The original's Mega Boost and Vaporizing Armor were significantly downgraded, and the entire right arm was designed as a fully integrated 150mm solid-shell long cannon to reduce production costs.
