What's the point?

Because the people who designed them named them that. Mostly for marketing purposes. Anaheim loves their money after all, and the gundam brand sells. Naming everything gundam would devalue that brand though, so you gotta keep it scarce.

See? We're already getting different answers, and neither is more "right" or "false" than the other. Learn from this.

All MS after the OYW are derivatives of the RX-78 project. Official sources say that the Alex is basically the godfather of nearly all MS after it. And RX-78-1 > RX-78-2 > RX-78-3 > Alex. And the Alex pioneered movable frame, e-pacs, linear cockpits and 360 panoramic screens, and more. Not to mention the RX-78s pioneered magnetic coating which pretty much became standard. By that logic all MS made after the OYW are gundams.

It has to say Gundam when you boot it up.

Having a gundam, but not paying for one.

Funny thing about the Huckebein is that in its original appearance you could change its colors, so you could outright have it in Gundam colors.

Bandai needs to give an ace pilot a "special custom suit" but for some dumb reason the series isn't allowed to mass produce Gundams. So ace pilots get second rate mecha. Better than grunt tier but not top tier.

depends on the show. in UC, it's a prototype suit that has the iconic "samurai helmet" head. in IBO it's any mobile suit with a frame that has two Ahab reactors, in 00, it's an mobile suit that has the GN drive, and so on.

>MSN-001 Delta Gundam
Appears in the MS Graphica
>MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki
Appears in the Zeta Gundam anime
>MSN-001A1 Delta Plus
Appears in the Gundam Unicorn novel/anime
>MSN-001X Gundam Delta Kai
Appears in the Gundam Unicorn video game
The line MSN-001 is technically made up of Gundam units even if the 00100 and 001A1 don't actually have the word in their official name.

Every character in Silver Phantom seems to disagree on the Delta Zayin. The kit box doesn't call it one but everyone in the setting itself does.

I'm pretty sure in UC the name "Gundam" is probably either a marketing thing or defines a concept of super high performance machine, sorta like how gun guys will throw around the term "RECCE" even though that doesn't always make sense
>>
>>
>>23814803
In gun circles, calling everything fucking RECCE when you drop a scope on it has become sorta cringe but you still see guys doing it from time to time. I don't think UC has an internet equivalent so they probably don't have as many people to spam the comments section of a new Gundam drop with "another Gundam? Cringe"
