I watched X recently, I was a little surprised how little the Satellite Cannon was used. It makes sense of course but the way I've seen people talk about it like X's defining thing I thought going in it was going to be used to end every fight or something.
>>
>>
>>23807549
It's the "defining thing" in that it's central to the plot, being an anti-colony weapon. It's AWGX's equivalent of a nuke, a weapon designed to destroy an entire population center Ironically, many X fans say that the X-Divider is their favorite MS from the show and it notably does not have the use of the Satellite Cannon.

The first time Garrod fired the Satellite Cannon, Tiffa felt the pain of all the people killed by the "light of hatred" from that thing. This led to him only deciding when and how to use it up until Carris destroyed the GX and the Satellite Cannon. When he got the DX, Garrod is more resolute to only use it as a form of warning shot lest he actually points it at his enemies should they piss him off enough, like what he did to the Frosts in the finale.

It’s too powerful of a weapon with too big of a setup that requires it to be night to really be used all that much on the ground, once they get into space it gets used a lot more, multiple times in an episode in some cases

Yeah, it's an extended version of the "what happened After War?" anniversary radio show with Garrod and Tiffa's VAs.
No way they have any unused footage of an actual anime series. This isn't live action.

Yeah, that's not an unreasonable issue to have with it. Just seen a lot of people who legitimately think it's only around at night. I guess they just never look up.
>and in the correct rotation for the base to have line of sight with the Gundam
It's tidally locked, so that's not a problem. Not sure if DOME stores enough power to send the microwave if the base isn't in direct sunlight though.

I always thought the Airmaster was the coolest because I love transformable mobile suits. But then it got that ugly blue upgrade that not only does it look worse, it turns into a complete jobber for the rest of the show. The DX is also a downgrade from the GX. Gundam X might be the only show where every suit somehow gets a worse upgrade.

Both Roybea and Witz still got episodes in the Estardo arc. They get nothing after that because the show is rushing to the conclusion. They'd probably have gotten more episodes if the North American Resistance arc hadn't been cut due to the show being shortened.

I disagree with that though as far as Gundams go they're both top tier in my eyes.

your taste is bad, sorry.
all the upgrades in this show are awesome

>appearing even once only to immediately become irrelevant and never matter again.
wrong. their got focus episodes with their upgrade episodes, and again some moments with their love interests near the end

Man, I saw those messages, even the UNE's suits are all named after animation techniques or tools like Daughtress, the mp suit that is everywhere, actually comes from "同トレス" Dotoresu (basically tracing).
It's crazy that they had all this meta message and yet you can still understand the show without all that. It feels like a lot of the time when creators try to get "meta" you end up with something very in "your face" and the internal story doesn't stand by itself.
But X's narrative still works well even if you don't get the meta references to Gundam and anime production at all.

>>23808812
>only to immediately become irrelevant and never matter again
They're the support team, man. Many Gundams don't even bother to give character to any of their side cast.
>>23808852
>Both Roybea and Witz still got episodes in the Estardo arc
Honestly they shouldn't have bothered with that shitty Miharu arc knockoff. It just wasted time when time was at a huge luxury.

The Estardo arc was animated before they decided to cut down the episodes. If they knew the series was getting shortened at that point, they'd certainly have skipped it to give more time to the main plot, like what they did with the North American resistance arc.

There's a lot of other stuff quoting an interview, but it's very small quotes per tweet, and it'd be annoying to repost everything.

This troll is so stupid.
0079 cancelation meant the show lost its original ending and got a new one to finish the show faster.
Layzner ending is completely cut. Even the OVA tried to wrap up but the actual ending with the super computer remained cut.
Ideon ending is completely cut.
Daimos's original ending is cut, with the show ending abruptly.
Mars OVA got canceled after 2 OVAs and lost the remaining episodes, even though there's a preview for 3rd episode.
In case of X, it got its intended ending and the story is done but in a faster way. Director himself said nothing from the story was cut. And the key animator said the show wasn't canceled.

The name Gundam in Gundam X's setting originates from a prototype piloted by a young pilot in the 1st Space War. He awakened as a Newtype during the conflict and became famous, and so the name of his suit was used for later "Gundams".

I always liked it because it's a more "realistic" version of the Buster Rifle from Wing. It isn't just used to spam enormous death beams and blast apart colonies, but is only used sparingly and for maximum effect precisely because of how destructive it is. And the "well how does all that power fit inside a Gundam" is neatly answered by one of the main plot points of the show.

Who said that Sasaki can't do his voice any more?
I think what Nozomu Sasaki's always said is that he doesn't WANT to do the voice any more because he really hates the word 'Nii-san' now because of how overused it was in his role as Olba

The One Year War ran from January 0079 to December 0079. Operation British was the only successful colony drop of the OYW. A second attempt was made but it turned into the Battle Of Loum because the EFSF ships arrived while Zeon was still attaching the booster engines to the colony they were going to try to drop.
Operation Stardust was in 0083 during the Delaz Conflict, and the Dublin Drop was in 0088 during the First Neo-Zeon War.

>nothing from the story was cut
Nothing from the ending. Some world building got cut, and there was that sudden "The New UNE is already in space?!" moment where the story clearly skipped over how that happened in order to fit the full planned ending into the shortened episode count.

The character mission screen in G Gen Eternal drives me crazy. The quotes they're saying are different from the ones in the subtitles, and both feel like generic quotes thrown in there from quotes from the show, rather than sounding like a request and praise for finishing it.

Not him, but I liked them because it's rare for the main villains from the show to be so petty. They're normally killed off for a worse villain or have grander ambitions. The Frosts want to kill everyone because they didn't get the adoration they thought they deserved (due to not being Flash System compatible).

Nope, I'm right there with you buddy. Although it wasn't over time, I like DX more than GX right off the bat.
