Depends how much you want to do with them. If you just want to hear, then any program that can decompress a .rar file, (WinRAR, 7Zip, etc) and a program that can play .wav files, which you should already have if you're using any OS from the past 20 years.
If you want to do more, like actual arranging or playing multiple things at once, you'll need a DAW or at least a basic audio editor, and that's more of a rabbit hole.

what about ideafagging? cuz I was thinking I'd put some ideas out there and maybe, just maybe, someone will pick them up, or at least discuss them.
starting off with the idea of a Ponyverse that leans towards being entertainment for the whole family more so than Lauren Faust intended - one that's not just for girls with maybe boys having interest and the parents not having to cringe while watching the show with their kids, but actually meant for audiences of all ages and both genders.
What I mean by this is that we take MLP:FiM and come up with ideas where the male characters are not portrayed as inferior to the females and actually get some roles that are equal in importance to the female characters.
Take for example the royal guard - I, for one, would've liked to see the royal guard be not pathetic. I'd also like to see male characters tag along with the mane six on adventures, giving a vibe that balances the girlboss feminism with positive masculinity, where the male characters exhibit virtues such as chivalry and bravery in the face of unfavorable odds as the females work their magic. femininity and masculinity working together, rather than the latter being unrealistically pathetic and the former being unrealistically overpowered. Make the whole gender balance more believable.
Some more specific examples I was thinking of are:
> Shining Armor and/or Sun Burst and/or other male characters being summoned by the magic map alongside an equal number of female characters.
> Celestia and Luna's cancelled brother, Cosmos, being introduced, with his personality being the outdoor adventuring type, which would explain why he's rarely ever seen within, or even near, the Canterlot castle (let alone Canterlot city). He can have a few niche appearances, such as one episode where he teams up with Daring Do to retrieve a particularly mysterious magical artifact found within ancient ruins, and having a chance to share his knowledge of arcane secrets.
> Sunburst's character being developed as the royal curator of secrets, lending his knowledge whenever the mane six are on an adventure involving magical artifacts in remote locations.
> Male alicorns. IMO Shining Armor and Sun Burst are prime candidates, and obviously Prince Cosmosas well as Big Mac because reasons.
Do you guys think there's any potential value to a more gender-balanced MLP? go ahead and suggest any ideas you might have for how MLP:FiM could've portrayed male characters better and in a way that makes them equal in importance to the female characters.
>>
>>
>>43155693
Sure I think the show/setting could some more gender balance and just more elaboration on the males in general, because why not? And your ideas are pretty good too. But also, you're focusing on that way more than the show did. The virtues of the characters in the show aren't gender stereotypes and so it doesn't really call for a 'rebalance' in the first place. If you really did, you'd probably have to change the existing characters a lot, e.g. Rainbow is more of a traditionally masculine personality and she couldn't realistically display the feminine element of chaste loyalty/faith without a serious character arc (which could be great...)

her character arc involves the wonderbolts, which do have at least one male member... but I get what you're saying.
there ARE other female characters tho, and they sure could use some love...
for example, Rarity aspired to find the stallion of her dreams in the first season - I never understood why she gave up on that after trying with just ONE jackass. I think she should've tried again and again until she found the one.
And according to leaks ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-cdUNHbZu8&t=4846s ), Tara Strong thought that her character should have a boyfriend & husband.

I managed to get out a game Marecon gamejam and ever since then I've been slowly working on it, refining ideas, trying to come up with an interesting story, gameplay loop etc.
I wrote down every thought I had however incoherent and am now attempting to sort through everything I gathered, which idea sounds fun which does not, gathering references and all the boring gamedev document writing that puts people to sleep.
I've got a general idea of what I want it to be and look, threw away most of the assets and whatnot that were used for gamejam as they were just placeholders anyway and don't fit the new vision. The foundations and most of the important systems at least are already done and just need refining and expansion of features that will come up as the game grows.
Most pony games (as far as i've seen) are quite simple game's that you sit down, might play for an an hour or two and never again. I don't mean it in a derogatory way, as they're able to focus on one thing and do it well. They don't need to do more than that. Fun is still to be had and you don't need to commit yourself to anything. Marequest is a perfect example, its quick and simple mare fun. I enjoyed it greatly.
But I was hoping to create something more in-depth. I was always a big fanboy of isometric RPG's so something akin to Disco Elysium but obviously not as big in scale is what i'm aiming for but not setting anything in stone just yet. Still messing around with camera angles and movement modes etc so we will see...
Anyway, that's enough rambling. My question would be- would anyone even be interested in an actual "full" indie pony game? A 6 hour story driven "your choices have impact" campaign type. What would you like to see from such a game? Am i a delusional faggot and should kms?

>would anyone even be interested in an actual "full" indie pony game? A 6 hour story driven "your choices have impact" campaign type.
that sounds like an actual dream come true to me.
>What would you like to see from such a game?
is it set in the world of fim and using canon characters as its main cast, set in the world of fim but starring ocs, or set in an original pony world? most of what i have to say depends on the answer to this question.

I think thats a great idea. We need more pony games.
>>43158541
I'm no lawyer so can only guess from looking around what everyone else has been doing. While Fighting is Magic together with Button Mash Adventures was at the time, the perfect storm for a C&D due to their and the show's popularity at the time, I doubt hasbro would care about someone making a small "nobody gives a shit" game with their IP.
Alas its still too risky and limiting for various reasons, so no cannon characters, and no mention of the world of FiM. Cutie Marks also seem to be suspiciously absent from most MLP games so I can only guess that its a part of it too.
Plan for now is to use the same setting but a different world- The strange mix of Medieval-Victorian-Industrial Revolution Era architechture for Villages/Towns/Cities respectively with "Canterlot" being renamed to something like "Castamare" and so on. With other major landmarks tweaked to fit into whatever i come up with.
TL;DR "Heavily FiM inspired original pony world starring OC's"

are you planning on having real gameplay, or will it just be an interactive story?
will the main conflict just be between characters, or will a high stakes adventure be involved?
if the latter, will interpersonal conflict still play an important role, or will the story be more focused on that adventurous goal?
how dark do you want it to get tonally?
will you use any kind of sapient non-ponies, or are ponies going to be the only people?
will the world only have female characters a la marequest/g3, or are are there also going to be males? (not necessarily in the main cast, just in the world in general.)
how big is the main cast going to be?
is the main cast going to change throughout the game at all, or remain mostly static?
if it's going to have multiple endings, are they just gonna be good/bad endings, or will they have more nuance?
i want you to lay everything you've got so far on me. you also don't need to have answers to all those questions yet, but these are things worth thinking about, and things you're going to have to decide at some point.

I have not tried windows 10 LSTC, is that a corporate/enterprise version? Googling it, it looks better than ((home)) windows and omits most of the bloat/garbage bundled with it, though why would a ATM or whatever use it over a Linux OS?
>how’s win on VM?
I’m using a virtual box instance, and it works fine. I had adobe bug out with a “error code 16” when launching it from the portable executable, but it just fixed itself when I launched the exe from the installation files.
Setting up my drawing tablet wasn’t too hard either, as much as niggers hate AI, it is useful for asking shit about documentation instead of spending 20 hours reading multiple documentation pages or sifting through jewtube videos (I have respect for jewtube tutorials by a singular autist before ~2016)
If I get the chance (and I’m not too busy doing something else) I’d like to try adobe aftereffects and doing something horn magic stuff. I really do miss minimal UI when it comes to shit like editing software, nowadays it’s gay ((modern)) UI with rounded corners, ugly ass themes, and software bloat because it requires 50 gabillion animations and bing bing wahoo graphics. The only notable thing adobe has done since adobe animate 2015 cc was just introduce a camera layer (my CS6 camera script layer seems to be broken and stretches things to shit when it pans off scene). I still haven’t tried my JAnimation tools yet.

All great questions that I'm glad you asked. Having only myself to bounce ideas off of can get tough. I'll try to answer them an "ideal scenario" way, not worrying about feature creep or the scope of the game just yet.
>are you planning on having real gameplay, or will it just be an interactive story?
Ideally the gameplay will fit in together with the story. The main gameplay loop will be about interpersonal relations and abusing them. So dialogue and what you choose to say will be the main bit- e.g you might need to ask a pony to do something dangerous for a sidequest/to progress, whatever. Will you leverage a friendship for help and risk something happening to them? Or go another way/solo/someone else that might ditch you the moment things go wrong.
Supplementary gameplay I was thinking of would be environmental puzzles (Oddworld Abe's Oddysey was a good well of inspiration) and potentially some minigames.
>will the main conflict just be between characters, or will a high stakes adventure be involved?
Plan is to have relationships form and fall apart, rivalries form and NPC's betraying each other for their benefit with deadly results as the adventure goes on and tests the group.
You might spend a good bit of time romancing a particular npc and someone jelaous might do something rash to you, or them. The adventure will be there to test how well you're managing your social circle and watch for others forming their own. And hopefully I have enough of an interesting idea for the story to make it work even if the player decides to go completely solo.
>how dark do you want it to get tonally?
Pretty dark. I want it to be depressing and grim- pull on the player's heartstrings a bit to encourage him to talk to the NPC's, stuff like that.
>will you use any kind of sapient non-ponies, or are ponies going to be the only people?
I feel like there's no reason I should limit it to ponies only, batponies, griffons, kirins etc are all fair game imo. Depending how much of a pain in the ass they will be to 3D model. Same deal with Stallions. Both genders will be present.
>The cast?
That is a tricky one. I know I want it to be a sizeable group with different types of personalities, ponies will die/abandon/beg to join the group depending on the situation. This I will only be able to pinpoint once I have the story I want to tell completely figured out.
>if it's going to have multiple endings, are they just gonna be good/bad endings, or will they have more nuance?
Once i figure out the exact story beats i will be able to make that decisions. In an ideal world there will be many depending on the people you bring with you and their status towards you.
But again, all of that is implying I'm insane and skilled enough to do all of that by myself and no problems come up ever. The scope of it is already quite massive but I try not to let it scare me from trying anyway. I got all the time in the world, limiting factor will be my own sanity.

You can contribute by just making sprites and sounds or even draw world on paper I could try to figure out how to add it. I am not sure if I will use Luna as a protagonist she seems to be OP in the dream world but she could appear saving you from nightmares that would be an interesting event to think about.

Would anyone be interested in some sort of small /create/ event similar to gamejam?
Kinda just something like you're given a theme, have a set amount of time to /create/ something based on it, and we all show it off in the thread and such
I think itd be a fun way to inspire some anons to create stuff and drive up a bit of activity in the thread
>>
>>
>>43174348
Not really. /create/ is specifically a place for anyone working on anything pony related so I think it should be anything goes as long as its pony related and something your working on.
It'd be a fun contrast where instead of every anon showing off something in one specific way, its more about showing off the wide range of creative mediums we have in the thread. We're all here for pony after all, whether its a statue, a drawing, a poem, a song, a story, etc.
>>
>>43174359
I think something more specific would be better. That's one of the reasons why game jam is so successful imo. It casts its net over a specific medium. It would also benefit other projects like music creation if they could have their own event.

Might be fun to have a "WIP Wednesday" kind of thing where you post about whatever you're working on even if it's not really in a presentable state. I guess I would if it means I actually have a reason to finish my animation instead of letting it collect dust. I just have to deal with the woes of SFM not properly adjusting font size with protontricks and wine on Linux so everything is microscopic. Adobe Animate seems stable thankfully.
I wonder if there’s any pony animations that have mixed 3D + 2D together? I know there’s the guy who does the “2D pony IRL” videos which are kino, but that’s not really 3D + 2D animation.

Use tree supports like in picrel. They've gotten really optimized nowadays and are almost always the better choice for complex models like your.
I also recommend buying a pair of tweezers to use for support removal. They're great since they allow you to precisely grip the support right where they connect to the model and easily snap it off.
>>43178287

As for duel filament printing you don't need dual print heads since a lot of printers now support multi-material systems where they just purge old filament and then swap to the new one when doing color/material swaps. I'd probably recommend using a specialized support filament specifically on the contact layer over water soluble filament.
Anon also looks to have an older elegoo printer based on the videos so while there may be an upgrade he could get to add multi-material, theres a good chance it would be around the same price to just buy a newer printer that comes with it by default.

Ok, I forgot about tree supports, thanks for the tip and I just bought these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKHB5J6K
for none marring support removal. I was thinking a rubberized tip pair of tweezers would work but I don't think its strong enough. These supports are really really strong.

here's a none decimated screenshot, that was only done with a modifier to show how it looks at 15k triangles. The original has 1.4m

That looks like cura slicer or a fork of it, right?
I’d recommend trying out orcaslicer. It’s the big open source slicer that most print farms use so its print settings, like the one >>43179328 mentioned, are a lot more finely tuned for all sort printers in filament.
Something definitely does not feel right about the supports you’re getting because those ones look like the tree supports from years ago when they were brand new and not tweaked well at all yet.
I think a sliver change would do wonders for both your print quality and speed in general

Let me know if you need any help with it, but it honestly should be as simple as just choosing the preset for your printer type and filament

It said in the slicer its gonna take 10 hours longer but I don't care this looks like it will actually work. I think we Gucci senpai.
>*fingers crossed*
>>
>>43179516
That sounds about right. The one downside to tree support is they tend to take longer and these ones compared to the bad ones in your old slicer are actually branching instead of clumped together, which means they take even longer on top of that.
If you don’t mind me asking, what printer do you have and what layer width are you printing it? 10 hours for supports on top of the initial print time seem really bloated since more printer easily hit 200 mm/s print speeds nowadays

At that density, that's not polygons anymore, it's a point of cloud!
Awesome, let's see how the print turns out!
Also, depending on the size of your prints, did you think about resin printer? They are the best for artsy projects and need of details imho.

Good golly. She'll be worth it though. I can only imagine how long that takes to open in its original state through Blender.

Honestly modern hardware and software has gotten good enough that 1.4m polygons loads within seconds with even a half decent pc.
I insanely overcompensate on my models because my use case for them has some really weird and specific demands, but even then I only really ever have any sort of trouble if I try and bool a model with 10m+.

Thanks, I printed out another Luna in black filament yesterday. I am waiting for Amazon to deliver my support removal tool before I tear up my fingers again pulling them off again. I have a beefy computer so I don't have trouble loading 1.4m

Dashie!
She took three and a half month of daily work to make, and was made for SS a while ago. I just never got around to posting her till now. It's a polymer clay sculpture.

Sorry, I can't help you, I use Prusaslicer and an old ass slow printer.
webbing usually come from temperature too high, and/or not enough retraction.
You may also be able to reduce it by activating "z hopping" (the nozzle will first go a bit higher, and then travel to it's destination).
I would print a calibration object if you use a new slicer, at least to check that the parameters are correct.
f it's only webbing, you may be able to remove it easily with an hot air gun.
Good luck!

I was in a hurry last night to get it started and didnt print a Benchy, considering it was the default setting its not that bad. The model itself looks better then the Cura slicer print. But it's not done so we will see.

What printer do you have and what filament, as well as filament brand, are you using? Also are you using the default setting and made sure to select your specific printer type and filament.
I can poke around the cura default print settings for your printer if thats the case and see if anything off
>>43181234
Seems like either a moisture or a nozzle temp issue. When did you open the filament and when was the last time you dried it?
