Multiple times over the years, I've offhandedly used the word "people/person" when referring to the ponies, and someone (a fan of the show, not an outsider) genuinely interjects into the conversation "but they're not people tho" like they're GENUINELY confused

It doesn't happen often, it used to be more common, but it has happened consistently. Seriously what the actual goddamn fuck is wrong with these people? It's a show thing. Everypony and whatnot. There is no reason not to just say everybody, but they do it anyway. It stems from that whole phenomenon.
