It's an awful episode & it seems like most people just often auto-correct their perception of it to 'what the writers likely intended', when it's impossible to read Trixie as an outright villain in boast busters, if they wanted her to be the villain, they could have at least shown her lying for some benefit like money or praise? Or shown her actually double down and back up the claim she made in her performance? But she doesn't even want the praise necessarily she was bugged by snips & snails obsessive response, and Spike is the one who insists they go and really try and get an ursa major.. it's more an episode about a child being swept up in the herd mentality of his caretaker's new friend group and taking things too far, Twilight's lesson should have been to not let her new friends do injustice in her favor, she should have learned they were being too hasty to deem Trixie's show somehow a personal invitation for a challenge
Instead Trixie remains a sort of rough patch for Twilight that she never really addresses, by the time Trixie is a hero Twilight just sort of backs off and it never really gets unpacked
Trixie's resilience in the face of ostracization only falters when she finally does make a friend, only for Twilight of all ponies to try and snatch even that small victory away from her, it must surely feel as if for anything to go right in the life of Trixie is somehow a sin it's own

Trixie is a hateful and spiteful person, people love to victimize her when she digs her own grave every single episode she's in, she never learns or tries to change for the better. Her doing something good every now and then (which likely isn't even out of the goodness out of her heart, just to stroke her own ego) doesn't outweigh her unlikable and selfish personality, which is exactly why Twilight and no one else besides Starlight likes her.
