Because GLM can be JB'd with a simple prompt, I've been using the z.ai website and not even bothering with API. You don't even need to sign up if you don't mind the auth token expiring every 24 hours and wiping your chat. Won't work with the VN, but it's free and unlimited.

With opus 4.6 it just works. I assume because of the good context recall. After 100k context length it starts being a bit wonky, but it's a good reminder to summarize. I hope the new versions return to the context awareness of 4.6
Also if you use <!-- hiddentext --> html tags you can have it hide things from you the reader. Doesn't work 100% of course, but good enough.

Ai has improved tremendously in the last few years, and while there's a lot of doom posting about it and yes progress has been overall getting slower, there is progress made
I guess it goes down to what you define as huge progress, but I'm sure small things being invented can have a huge ripple effect and wind up having a tremendous impact
Personally my only concern is that the good stuff will end up so expensive nobody outside companies would realistically pay for it

The big thing is that we've been in a massive funding wave and the moment investors get seriously gunshy you have to expect progress to slow to a crawl. By the way I'm still planning on contributing to G4 content. I've been recently gathering images for new and improved Ponyville locations. I'm doing my best to go beyond the boorus by editing svgs, compositing ponies out of screenshots from the yayponies 4k upscale, and using AI to remove characters when needed. I'll try to get what I'm working on to a playable state soon.

For G4 contributions I want to approach it in a simple as possible way for VN Anon. I don't care about any kind of credit or jerking myself off with a mega pack mod. Anything I contribute should be seen as something you can take piecemeal, integrate to the base game in whole or part, modify in any way, or ignore entirely.

Using the Chinese openrouter for opus, 4.6 and 4.7 both are getting the same errors on Sillytavern for 12+ hours. I fear it's the Chinese openrouter because cheaper generation is too good of a thing to last.

God damn it. You must believe me that I have been constantly checking if Claude was down before asking for help only for the most recent test to be right now. It wasn't working even when 4.7 wasn't down. To make myself not go insane, if it starts working right after 4.7 is back up then I'll believe Claude was down this entire time and just wasn't reported making me attempt to open what is essentially a locked door that has a "open" sign out front.

Well I was still having issues but there's two options for each model on the Chinese openrouter and the one with a Chinese character in brackets is working. I tested it before but Claude was probably down. I never had to use it before now but whatever. Times like this makes me miss all of the previous givers of tokens. So much headache is solved and hopefully one will show up again, ideally with a better way of not dying maybe.

Some benchmemes can be sort of useful. For instance, Anthropic themselves found that Opus 4.7 was a regression in long context compared to 4.6, and it's observable in RP.
Otherwise, no, they are posted as a sort of ritual, but there is a reason we call them benchmemes.

IMO, it's a weird model.
As always, I do tests with a small preset or none at all to see the default model tendency.
First, and maybe most interesting for most anons, I did tests to see its bias against the user, and for now it seems to be less biased than other Opus models.
I have a scenario with Red Seven to try that and see if she gobbles my attempts or not. Most Claude models do, or will have her hesitate or tell me to "Try to convince her."
Here she tells me to fuck off on all swipes.

Swipe variety seems meh, alright for a nu-Claude model, but worse than Deepseek or others of course.

As someone who used Claude a lot, I can still see these are Claude outputs, but I would say it's better than the absolute ism-riddled output it can give you without context.
AI detector is more or less stumped by them, whereas it will always detect 100% on low-context outputs.

So not that great, but not that bad; seems better than 4.7 for that, but a bit worse than 4.6 IMO.
Now, at the start of chats or at very low context, it seems quite sloppy.

(Just for info, I don't take those detectors as gospel. It's just to add to my observations. And in those cases, if this one detects 100% on an output, you can be sure it's indeed really LLM-pilled.)
Seems at the same level as 4.7 or even worse for this specific case.
Seems to love metaphors and similes more than other Claudes, but could be placebo; need more tests.
One other thing I observed: for more comical scenarios, at low context, it does seem to really go for a "Reddit/Marvel" style of writing. That's often present in some recent models but even more so here. I really hope it was this specific scenario that triggered that and that it's not something general; need more tests.
I can do vanilla NSFW with a very basic preset, but results were a bit underwhelming. At least I wasn't filtered.
I'm reading on other generals that some anons are getting filtered with the same presets they used before, so YMMV. I don't do foalcon, so I can't judge on that.

I know how you feel and I have felt that way before. But recently I've thought about our entire journey starting with CAI back in September 2022, or hell, even AI Dungeon before that. We've come a long way in less than 4 years. Don't let Capability Grief blind you to this.
It's great that I have models that can (not counting Gemini) portray my waifu in a surprisingly accurate manner so I can engage in all manner of antics with her.
It's great that I have tools that allow me to set up scenarios where me and my waifu happen to have complimentary kinks and have a fulfilling marriage. Or where she's evil and >I can fix her or make her worse.
It's great I can play scenarios from moments of the show, affect them and see the results.
It's great I can bring my fanon interpretations of background ponies, or some main characters, to life.
It's great I can play my underrated and underserved fetishes with AI mares
It's great I can run my autistic crossovers with cute mares.
It's great I can write down my 20,000 word worldbuilding project and see my setting and characters explored.
It's great I was able to make friends with people who are as interested on AI RP as I am.
It's great that I no longer have to search online for a tool to "do X online", and can have an AI agent code it for me in 5 minutes.
It's great that I can have an AI agent update a lot of abandonware for me while I focus on other things. Minecraft or Rimworld mod not updated since 2018? Not anymore.
It's great that I can be part of a community of people who enjoy AI mares like I do.
All of this, and it is almost guaranteed to get better in the future? Man do I love AI.

This will only be a temporary issue. I'd say Deepseek V4 is closer to Claude 3 than any other model. The chinks are actively making Claude accounts and running millions of conversations to steal Claude's outputs for training. If Claude 5.1 comes out I'd say a year or two later a Chinese equal will come out for a way cheaper price.

Didn't test it enough yet. On Silly, I often do summaries or new sessions, so I don't have anything that goes above 30-40K.
Doing tests on them wouldn't be that good or representative IMO.
I could merge some of them to see, but too lazy.
If you believe Anthropic, they fixed it, but RP tests would be better.
Now that I think about it, I do believe I have something that could serve as a test but in the VN. I will check.

I was one of the fucks who subscribed to AI Dungeon back when, too; not only that, I was obsessed with Google Deep Dreams years prior. This is probably the easiest thing to get with AI, here are some ways:
Add to your persona smell. A pleasant manly smell like smoked woods or whatever. Models are trained on female romanceslop and those stories love smells.
Add stuff to the world info that says mares love human cock. This is an entry I have used for years:

I have a question for VN anon about the Ponyville map "mod" I made. Today I did some more edits to create generalized hot spots like "Food & Drink" where multiple related locations can be merged now that it's supported in game. I also matched the font size and boldness almost identically with the current map.
Would you be interested in making this the default map in the core game once it's polished to yours and other anons' liking?

I am working on gathering new and missing interior/exterior locations for Ponyville. I'm working off of this new map to wire everything up but if you're not interested in eventually moving to this new map, I can plan on making secondary .jsons that would work with the current Ponyville map.
If you or any other anons have any thoughts on this WIP map let me know, and I can make any requested changes.

Cranky's house without a label in the bottom left is arbitrary but I do have interior and exterior images made for his house. I was thinking it combined with the fall colored leaves could be used used as a hotspot for running of the leaves locations (though I haven't planned any at the moment). If Cranky's house is an eyesore, I could remove it and just have a bigger fall tree hotspot.
Sweetie Belle's house is also arbitrary and unlabeled. I have Sweetie Belle's bedroom and the exterior of the house in progress.
Flower shop is arbitrary but is canonically left of SCC. It's a good filler location that could easily be replaced if something better comes up in the future.
Unsure about labels for Food & Drink, Residential, Goods & Services. Let me know if anyone has any other preferences for what to call them.
I'm not a fan of Horsepital over Hospital, personally.
The residential hotspot doesn't fit any locations the base game right now. I'm thinking the Ponyville streets location from the downloadable locations would be good to upgrade to a core location as the default for this spot. For my WIP locations, I'm going to link Scootaloo's bedroom and Vinyl/Octavia's house to this spot but those might be better off as downloadable locations.
Everfree forest is more of a placeholder. It would be nice to have custom art for it though I want to focus on getting actual locations done.
Ultimately the art style of the map is so simple that anyone should be able to take over in the future. I will release another full individual layer breakdown when I finish the locations I'm currently working on.

I have no problem with that in theory. The only reason I had it as a mod is for anons who prefer the more minimalist map still, since that can be a lot of noise on screen. I myself play with the "mod."
Maybe make a poll once it's out to see what the preferred default is?
I could try to have an option in game to easily switch too, but I need to see since it will touch JSON and such.

Let me know if anything looks off or should be revised. You can consider both the outskirts and the Everfree forest to just be clean placeholders that can be revised entirely in future updates.

As of VN anon's last game update, locations can now be combined into one map hotspot. This makes it more intuitive to play with many different locations and rooms without having to comb through the full off map location list. You also get a more complete simulation on screen as ponies go about their schedules. Clicking a hot spot lets you dig down and see the true location where the pony is. The flower shop and bowling alley are separate Hotspots to give breathing room and also act as good candidates for what to swap away when modding your own favorite locations in.
The paw print sign in the Quills, Sofas, and Friendships locations is the logo for Fauna's vet clinic which is a location I'm working on. It can be swapped out for something different if someone has a better idea for what represents a shops, services, and activities hotspot.

This is one of those cases where the fact that LLMs write the way they do can be an advantage. The scene's pretty open-ended and could've gone in all sorts of different directions but the moment rut gets slapped down due to your context presumably being horny as fuck it has to justify it by figuring out what's being rutted, and the fact that there's only one relevant object in the scene makes the choice inevitable.

They often change the text model and don't say what they use, but it's often a preexisting local one, so anons that use SillyTavern with online models will find both the interface and the model itself too limited, even when using cheaper models like DeepSeek.
I suppose local anons won't be interested either since it's online and allows less customization.
So it's more for anons that don't want to install SillyTavern or software at all and can be content with the model they use.
If I remember correctly, it does allow you to use normal cards and bots, so you can use it with the cards from the Ponydex.
So if you just want a quick solution to chat and don't mind the model being so-so, then it's not that bad of a service.

Another wip revision of the map/contributions I'm working on. It's a bit of a regression visually because I quickly swapped the Everfree and outskirts but I do still just consider those placeholders to update down the line. I'm more interested in getting the actual current content up beyond draft form. I broke the tea shop back into its own spot and instead added the parfait cafe from the later seasons to the combined food spot. I also added a new hotspot called "Alley Oops" because we need a general hotspot for the seedy part of town. It works with the back alley and Madame Pinkie's tent. I labeled the lake Saddle Lake which is semi canon. I also rearranged the icons again to be a bit better canon-ish position.
I've been doing more original work for locations like pulling apart original vector files or adding better views like the exterior of Sweetie Belle's house. That will have a shore for the VN characters to stand on and serve as a default location for the Humble Abodes Hotspot.
For wiring up the music, I'm using the music property to link res://assets to existing core music for the same location, though I'll try to figure out something for ones that need original bgm.
This might help or hurt depending on your playstyle but I am spending a shitton of time writing full descriptions (or revising AI vision outputs) for the AI context description for every location. I found in my G5 playthrough, letting the AI know what existed in each room was amazing for immersion. I'm mostly done with the descriptions for my new locations but I'll move onto the base game locations next.
I'll also test an easily swappable json version of the original map with some of new rooms and locations mapped to the original hotspots.

Asking this this to VN Anon now rather than trying to coordinate how to modify the .jsons later. Basic Idea: I will wire up the proposed new map with both base game and new locations coded into region.json (as well as backporting ones that make sense to the original map with its own region.json). I will wire up any locations NOT going to the base game with their location.json using the new hotspot property so that they can be downloadable locations instead.
All existing default locations will stay default so that existing schedules still work as expected when clicking hotspots.

AI is only getting better and contexts getting bigger. I've been thinking the opposite and have been also defining a new property in each location called short_desc that could be optionally in context for all locations to tell the AI what a specific location id is. This can be tested without changes to the actual game since I'll export it as a pasteable context into the dynamic location box for Ponyville. I wouldn't mind actually helping solve the problem too. I think the best solution in the future would be a two part system 1) A main overview of landmarks in a region that shows only one main location_id for each main landmark 2) In each location.json, an array of related_locations that tells the AI where it can move from that location.

It's definitely the biggest loss out of the crops. I'll keep that one aside for now. The problem in general of cropping to VN style is that you lose a lot of the context of surroundings. In the actual show they wouldn't show a closeup scene without showing an establishing shot first. I will propose a loading screen system in the future where you could show these full images for every location while the AI is loading the scene.

That was me, I'll give it a shot. Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better(I was getting better results from heretic models of Gemma 4 E4B(9B) than I was the same fine tunes of Gemma 4 31B or 26 A4B, or Qwen 3.5/3.6 35B A3B and 27B models. Scootaloo's Bedroom becomes Spunky Filly's Bedroom with no references to her in ai context. Vinyl and Octavia's house becomes Musician's house. And Madame Pinkie's tent just gets the ID changed to fortune_teller_tent (I'll still keep the name Madame Pinkie's tent but not anything that touches AI context before you visit). This should allow stories to be told naturally without the downsides.

Looks like Anthropic just put Opus 4.1 on life support. I was never a fan of 3, but I genuinely enjoyed 4.1 a lot and will hate to see it go. Hopefully Chinese models keep improving.

As promised, a more polished "finalized" version of the contribution pack is now available for you to review. I spent all day on this so I'm sure there'll be something screwed up out of exhaustion but it's looking okay from quick testing. For all of the music to work you need to actually move the custom locations to the core folder, but I left them in the custom folder just for convenience to see what is proposed to being added.

Agony. At least it's coming, thanks. Guess I have all this time by my lonesome to make a spec document for an impression system. I've reduced sycophant behavior a lot from the base on these models by expanding character cards and system prompting(especially trying to introduce gradients of impressions in the Summary section), but it's only - maybe 60% of where I'd like it to be and I think it can get most of the rest of the way there relying on harnessing that isn't fundamentally just prompting. Long and short of it, I think assigning key value pairs to characters and tracking a reaction value to a rolling total(maybe setting a min/max value per scene/scenario), assigning tiers/value thresholds, and having the Summary pull that tier tile for a relationship status would be a lot more gradual with fewer crazy swings than just letting the AI decide the character's impression of you freely from scene to scene.

Sure I can clean irrelevant stuff from it and share it. It is really just an old preset that I added some sexual and worldbuilding prompts to. Plus the lore entries. A good of it also comes from the card which has example quotes already asserting these two as kinky.

Oh this is very good. This is very good. Promising. This is probably slightly better at roleplaying than Gemma 4 E4B(in turn, better than all those other larger local models I mentioned), but unlike E4B which has a tendency to introduce formatting errors as context grows I haven't gotten a single formatting issue in my testing. It doesn't have any issues the larger models have with having awful prose and very short replies/summaries.
I will have to do some tweaking, and testing which of the fine tunes for this model seem the best at these writing tasks, but so far I think this is quite usable. It's no Gemini 3.5 Flash, but it's good. Equivalent to Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite, imo. They differ in prose and structure of their replies, but, I prefer Gemma 4 12B's prose and Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite's structure.

Something I forgot to mention somehow is the most impressive part of this model is it's ability to follow narrative instructions. Better than all these other models by a landslide. Even better than Gemini 3.5 Flash. I will instruct something to the effect of having characters in the scene react to a faux pas with expressively/emotionally/mentally and letting it slide/not bringing it up - but all of these models will try to have characters press the issue without tweaking settings and many regenerations. 12B is VERY good at deliberate exclusion in context.

Scootertrix Megan would be funny as a character. The ponies call her Meegan and she's irritated all the time. Having her, Anon, and the player would be a funny cast of humans stuck in Equestria who all have issues. She'd be the first to arrive, been there since she was 13 or something, Anon would be the second, having been there for maybe a year at most, and then the player who just arrived.
The differences between her and Anon would be that Anon is kind of a loser, being a 4channer (no offense) and he's quite put off by the colourfulness and positivity of Equestria. This makes him more moody than mad. Megan on the other hand, is generally irritated by the nonstop cartoonish high jinks and nonsensical magic of the world. Having been roped into one too many friendship adventures, she's close to crashing out at any pony who tries to get her to help with anything.
