It sounds cool, but if this was filmed on camera phone I bet it wouldn't be glamourous. Seeing pale faced sweaty Billy Idol in his underpants surrounded by thai prostitutes all squarking like seagulls at the seaside

NTA but there was always a lot of working class bands in rock. Actually maybe even an overrepresentation compared to other bands. The Who, The Troggs, The Animals, The Kinks just in the beginning, when punk came along it became actively working class (Not Billy Idol though of course who was a massive ponce)

You make a good point actually. Maybe what really killed rockstars was everyone on the planet having a camera with them at all times and a platform of billions of people to share content with. It not only makes it harder to romanticize the lives of these people for better or worse but it also gives public figures far less privacy than they had before so they're now more forced to moderate their behavior in public. Just one of the many reasons that the internet has been a net negative for humanity.

lead singer of filter got really drunk on an airplane in the nineties and had a moment of clarity when he realized a passenger had a camcorder, wrote a whole song about it. cant happen now
so not only are rockstars as people effected by mass camera adoption, the songs themselves are suffering too, we dont even get to cope with "we traded rockstars for even BETTER music!" we got the worst of both worlds
