He's starting to realize that the early 2010s were indeed quite amazing because we had tons of songs focused on interesting melodies that were meant to make you feel something, whether it was happiness or melancholy. All the modern pop songs don't do that, they're repetitive and boring, made for background music when you're at the barber or grocery shopping, without exception. The EDM influenced pop era was the greatest era for pop music, and people are noticing.

This. I unironically think 2008-2013 was the absolutely pinnacle of pop music. Literally every song was great. I knew at the time and I stand by it now. It was basically five straight years of "ft. Pitbull."

pop music peaked in 1997.

Not just music, but all popular culture began moving in an almost perfectly symmetrical retrograde after Ordinary World.
>>

90s pop is indeed great but I still think that high energy EDM truly elevated pop to new heights. It was like the logical conclusion of what pop music has been building towards for 50 years. And I'm still not entirely sure why it died out and why it was replaced with the forgettable slop we have now, especially the post-covid shit.

It was all downhill from here, with a handful of exceptions, including Michael Jackson, and to a lesser exten, lady Gaga and Lana del Rey.

glad you mentioned that one of all things because the worst thing about that era was how that exact song was recycled and became a huge hit each time. they got away with murder in the 10's
Flo rida - good feeling? same song
Party rock anthem? same song
avici - levels? same song
taio cruz - hangover? same song
I'm sure there's more i forgot. they're all the same song. you fell for it. you got mindraped and in fact you're owned right now

At least zoomers are listening to music that i listened to when I was 12 it is charming and funny.
But serously, I think millenials killed subcultures and any kind of genuine self expression with that ironic/post-ironic stuff. They were so self conscious and insecure they berated anything with integrity and emotion. Everyone was too cool for everything, everything was ironic, "eeew you listen to that". Everyone was one upping each other who can listen to more obscure and artsy shit.
I've seen scenes die out in my city because of that.
Now zoomers are crawling over the ruined wasteland of subculture trying to reclaim any semblance of genuine expression and integrity because they crave it since they grew up in fake and gay world millennials created. Im not saying they are succeeding but i hope they do.

Gooba came out when zoomies were entering their +20s. It absolutely is what zoomies listened to. Because if not that, what else? Nigger mumble rap is all the zoomies listen to to this day.

anon if music from 2020 is millennial, then zoomers seem to not have anything at all because the oldest gen a is turning 17 this year.
soundcloud rap like lil pump (who is a zoomer) is zoomer culture, deal with it.

>The formative years for music preference generally occur between ages 12 and 22, peaking around 14 to 17
The oldest gen Z was 20 when Gucci Gang came out. Zoomers formative years were peaking when Lil Pump and 69 were at their peak. Lil Pump is a zoomer born in 2000.
It's zoomer core. You lost.

You stupid nigger, soundcloud rap was just a natural progress from trap music which was 1000% millenial invention, all the luminaries of that genre were millenials. You can talk about zoomer music only after 2020 and 'rona which were THE formative period for zoomers.

Are these uncs ITT actually pretending that young people, especially zoomers and gen A, are not listening to nigger rap?
Look at any zoomers top 10 spotify artists and you'll find at least 5 niggers. Pic related is not listening to Weezer.

All 2nd gen Nafri/Turk core. No white listens to that. Not to even mention eastern europe, rap is really in a downwards spiral when it comes to popularity. Zoomers would rather listen to electronic music than rap.
