Apple has a way smaller market share outside the US and in Japan specifically they use a different NFC tech in their phones so foreign phones can't use the public transport apps for payment at the gates. That's why I still have my Suica, Passmo and Icoca cards when I visit.

This is only true for chink junk phones or whatever bottom of the barrel manufacturers poorfags on /g/ buy. The reason is the manufacturer won't pay the license fee for it, and can't enable the function as a result

Also, Osaifu-Keitai is fundamentally based on Sony's FeliCa, which all phones emulate in Apple Pay/Google Pay/Samsung Pay unless your phone is junk. Apple has had it since iPhone 7 in Japan , and worldwide it's been there since iPhone 8. Lagdroid manufacturers often refuse to pay the license for it, hence it's disabled on their models (poor people).
