They use an identical rail gauge to North America. I mean why wouldn't they? Americans literally helped fund and build their first railroads

The last thing we should be doing is giving even more contracts to China, lets order from Japan and just change the gauges

The core philosophy of /n/ is "There exists people who don't desire the same things I desire. This should not be allowed."

How did California's HSR went from $30 billion to $230 billon? And how did it delay the project from 1990s planning to now may not even finish this century?

Did Elon Musk buy out the unions and the Californian politicians to delay the project and increase the cost?

What I want to know is how ANYONE ever thought it was going to be $30 billion, that's like the price of a light rail loop that connects the sportsball arena to downtown and the airport.

It isn't going to happen at this point because le trump administration, but it would've been cool though.. Chicago cta and Boston mbta are gonna be the only systems with Chinese models we get probably...

Trains entering and leaving Russia have their trucks manually resized to changed gauge. It's terribly inefficient but better than transferring cargo to a different train.

One of the dumbest things cities did was make themselves dependent on the federal government for transportation gibs. It ends up coming with all kinds of requirements that drive up costs and make it take forever.
