There are jackass cyclists like there are jackass motorists and jackass pedestrians. Yet we get the hate because we’re trying to be both economically and environmentally efficient while getting to places as soon as possible?
>t. a cyclist who uses the sidewalk because there are no bike lanes, people hardly use sidewalks, and i don’t wanna risk car accidents

Generally we're not, but a small, vocal minority of extremely angry people are obsessed with us to the point of mental illness. Some people have the energy to push back, some make a hobby of it, but most people just can't be bothered, so the angry karens are always going to be there. You might say we're like the transgenders of the road. Not sure who our JK Rowling is. Maybe that guy from Top Gear?

idk but I unapologetically ride like a fucking mega cunt and if someone has a problem with it, oh what a surprise they dont wanna get out of their car and talk about it they wanna go home and post about it on social media
>if i encountered u i would run u over or shoot u
Okay. hasn’t happened yet i dont think you would do shit
>>

>even more special treatment than they already receive
The road system is extremely subsidized and built in favor of cars. Even in the Netherlands. Whenever a city tries to shift this balance slightly from extreme subsidization to merely massive subsidization, cager go fucking apeshit.

also guarantee you don’t consider things like safe road positioning around blind corners to prevent being slammed into from behind u probably just ride in the gutter like a beta and wonder why you get close passed, people cant see you until its too late
>teehee im not like the other cyclists
Ur worse get the fuck out of the inside of the blind corners, i bet you stop at roundabouts and clog that shit up 5x longer than you should while you try to get back on your bike and you think you are being “one of the good ones”
Confident borderline aggressive riding is safe riding i do not give a fuck if some alcoholic honks his horn at me fuck him and fuck you stay in the bike lane you fucking femboy
>>
>>2072626
This, also the more to the right of the curb you ride the more likely people are to pass you dangerously. Yeah sorry bro but I'm gonna leave at least 4 ft between my squishy body and a potentially opening car door, guess you're just gonna have to change lanes to overtake me
>>
>>2072626
>I ride like a mega cunt
>Actually I ride very safe
Lmao triggered much. What you described isn't riding like a cunt it's riding normally. Riding like a cunt is burning every red every stop and hopping onto busy sidewalks. Pull the seatpost out of your ass lmao you cry baby hahahahahaha
>>
>>2072628
He's sort of right though, women really do not like the "male" style of riding that's why they're always getting killed by box trucks when men get in front aggressively instead of timidly hanging out in the kill zone. But this is seen as "unfair" or "toxic masculinity" so there will always be some stigma attached to proper defensive riding. Same reason people who don't think of bike lanes as a panacea are always getting called toxic elite sports cyclists.

(passive) aggressive drivers will harass you no matter what kind of vehicle you're using. Big difference here is that are you are far more likely to come into contact with such people when you're travelling at 25 kph

There are many definitions of "normal cycling". I ride according to my ideas of safety, not about what will offend people or make me "one of the good ones". My ideas about what's safe and reasonable are based on my local road conditions. Other norms prevail in areas with other road conditions.
Turn-related practices are a good example of this. Before we even get into what bicycles should do, cars and trucks are expected to do different things depending on the country. And then of course, there's us. We are usually an afterthought at best. The bicycle is sometimes expected to take the outer lane, sometimes the inner lane, sometimes take the crosswalk and only pay attention to pedestrian walk/don't walk signs. Sometimes there are no rules or expectations on anyone's mind because bicycles are for children and children should not be playing in traffic.
So if following your local customs and regulations puts you at higher risk, the rational choice is to ride like a "mega cunt" and disregard optics, because being safe is better than looking like a nice guy. On the other hand, if your local conditions make it so that you're safest doing "nice guy" riding, then there is no need to act like a "mega cunt".

i mean i do kinda ride like a cunt still, this is normal riding true but it is considered bad by car people, although i still DO ride like a cunt by that I just mean blowing reds and hoping for the best and disregarding speed limits, nice downhill and im pinning it even if its a 20kmh only residential, urban “shared path” type of shit yeah i fuckin fly past peds unless theres a dog or small child im definitely a cunt but its funny that despite every awful thing i do its still safer than riding like a bitch. if im going to be viewed as evil anyway for not wanted to ride in the gutter i might as well do this shit no?
i also angle my 1000lumen light slightly upwards i am not sorry

Lumenchads reporting in. My light is to prevent doorings and right hooks. It needs to be and is visible in the rear view mirror. It cannot be ignored. If you find yourself blinded it's because you're trying to salmon up a one-way street like an asshole, so any issue with my light is your problem not mine.

If it's a one-lane road I will yield to car traffic behind me as much as possible
but if I'm on a two-lane road I simply do not give a fuck. If you're a motorist who is triggered by how slow I'm going then just move over to the fast lane

yes, because cars actually offer extensive strategic and social benefits, unlike scrappy little toys for manchildren to virtue signal with.

>get aggressive when criticised for poor road behaviour
>refuse to use cycling infrastructure, regularly choosing to block roads when there is an adjacent cycle path

>chooses to put themselves in suicidal danger then takes it out on road users

There is something mentally wrong with adults who ride bikes. If your city has dedicated cycle infrastructure and you can commute without taking your push bike onto a road with 4 tonne cars going 60-100km/h. Fine. But that's basically never the case so you're choosing to be a problem.
If you want to help congestion get a motorbike. If you want the two wheel experience on roads get a motorbike. Otherwise get your fucking toy off the road.

Regardless, you present yourself as a hazard to society when you oonga-boonga behind the wheel like a spastic chimp all because you're too retarded to remember you can always go around and magically makes your day ruined.
Hang up the driver's license before you end up killing someone over your retarded road raging anger issues.

It's similar to hating pizza with pineapples (knowing that no hawaiian will attack you over it) or making muh attack helicopter jokes (knowing that no tumblrinas from 2009 will come after you). Easy way for spinless NPCs to tilt at a windmill and feel tough.

Obey rules of the road and you'll be OK.
Notice, I don't say "laws" because with sufficient political sympathies, cyclist organizations have succeeded in having some of the dumbest rights written into traffic laws.

The biggest lobby against bike lanes is the John Forrester crowd. Pic related.

pineapple pizza hate is yet another example of americans doing things badly on purpose to "prove" they don't work. most american chains don't roast the pineapple first, or even drain it properly, making pizza that is a soupy mess. and pineapple for american markets is usually packed in sweetened juice or even syrup, so it's much sweeter than it should be (even though pineapple is itself already pretty sweet on its own). so the fruit still being wet and being way too sweet will, even if you like the taste, absolutely ruin the texture and turn the top of your pizza into soup
go anywhere outside the states and people will still meme on you about it but pineapple on pizza will be made properly and merely be a difference of taste rather than being objectively wrong. getting pineapple on pizza anywhere in the US is actually objectively wrong
>>
>>2073805
Look at the way rail sidings actually work. You have to push one train or several cars into the spur, which means the factory has to be built essentially with a long wall, and to move anything at all, the whole train has to be pulled back out, as opposed to a bunch of truck docks that can be accessed as needed.
This is why when there's rail transportation, it's usually bulk transport of something, usually raw materials, and any factory that still uses rail is rail in, truck out.

If you look at the way these distribution centers work, that is a good question. Working backwards, the stuff from Walmart comes in a large truck, which is packed with stuff the stores need, and it's not a particularly big shipment (maybe at most two trucks a day, and that's assuming peak hours). The distribution centers are from a warehouse, which bring in trucks from all over, from various other factories and warehouses, allowing coming and going quite easily, as opposed to sidings, which can only handle a few trains at a time.
Pic is the Walmart distribution center in New Braunfels, which has been open since the 1980s and one of the first of its kind. The Kmart distribution center in Corsicana did have a rail siding, but it was rarely, if ever, used.
>>
>>2073879
well historically those rail sidings were for large volumes of raw materials, not collection/distribution of finished goods. hence why i said "factories" and not "wal mart distribution centers"
all modes of transport have their place (otherwise they would have been priced out of the market) but that does not apply to cagie cope for >NEEEEEEEDING a 5 ton SUV to drive themselves between their home and their white collar do nothing job 8 miles away

Some fucking brown fuckboy in a elantra tried picking beef with me today in a group ride and I still dunno what pissed him off. Literally stopped at a red light and he opened his window and flipped me off then followed our group like super close for no reason. Eventually he stopped but that was so fucking weird.
I like cycling but honestly with the drivers in our area, it's starting to really drive me mental. One day I'm gonna do something man and it's gonna fuck me up big time.
