Marta trains have a luggage space at either end of the car. I put my bike sideways in it and sit nearby. it's great.
I assume you're talking about somewhere else? bikes are allowed on Marta but afaik they don't "heavily encourage" it

Marc trains HAD, bike caboose, which were a dream with hanging bike racks on the left, and VIRTUALLY EMPTY bench seats on the right......now you have to side strap you bike in the deployable handicap bench area.....

Maybe it's time to admit bikes are just a niche mode of getting around and aren't worth a lot of dedicated space for (in trains & buses and lanes on roads)

it's hardly ever used for anything, and if I'm lugging my bike along with me, then it's luggage.
obviously if someone else is using it, I'll go to the next one. there's 4 per car, there's never a shortage and the transit cops never say anything because bikes are allowed, where else would I put it?

Everything should be built around feet as much as possible, yes. But the cost for another car on rolling stock is virtually nothing. Till the train doesnt fit on the station, there is no reason to not have it.
