Why do car designers insist on making every car so antisocial? This thing looks like it hates everything, including itself
>>
>>28912647
The GTI is actually alright, slightly faster than the Si and just fast enough.
>>28912669
GTI doesn't make anyone seethe.
>>28912675
R and CTR are overkill for most people. They are actually "real performance" insofar as they are fast enough to really fuck up in, but they are also way too fast for the street. Ib4 Corvette and Supra bros shitting on me - yea, yea. The point is that R/CTR are entry level into that.
Si/GTI also don't need 2 sets of tires.

The Mk 8.5 GTI puzzles me. It's not interesting enough to be a "cool" car yet it makes no sense as a daily since it has so much going on (dct, direct injection, turbo, meh fuel economy, touchscreen only, hit or miss reliability). The only pro I can think of is that it's one of the quickest cars that doesn't need premium gas. Otherwise it seems like an interim car that you only get because you can't yet justify buying something cool.

I love mine
I can't afford more than one car so having one that can do a little of everything while being small is important to me

Yeah. I can't have people in the back and pack a ton in the trunk
But I never really do those 2 things at the same time so it works
I've have 6'4 friends in the back and they fit even if the legroom wasn't fantastic
I've fit large items in the back like 4 tires with the seats folded down and I can still see out the back
It's a jack of all trades vehicle and you have to give up some things to do that

then post arm, FATASS
only a FATASS soul drives a FATASS PIGFAT car
and I know for a fact you wouldn't seethe at hatchbacks if you could get BMW's hatchback but you can't because they hate you and you slurp their balls anyway so you drive your PIGFAT cars and be mad

Still good
I went the golf route because the aftermarket is a bit more robust and I like the hatchback form factor a bit more
Still decent for the money and had an MT even when the GTI didn't
It's just preference at the end of the day

Man, it was so weird. I'd walk in and say hello to whomever was there and they wouldn't turn their head or say anything. Not a single meeting in over a year. No fans, no music, you could hear a pin drop. I'd go days without hearing anyone speak. Freaked me the fuck out desu.
Indian food is very pleasant.

the good thing about using the same engine for years is that you get people with experience that know how to work on it
plenty of remaps and tunes for the EA888
but for starters you get a waterpump that isn't plastic dogshit and have it ready when the stock one explodes

>Why would I use my left arm to shift like some third world flyoverlet?
See, in a manual you often are steering with just the left hand because shifting. Not something a dexteritylet like you could understand, clearly.

Going back to GTI talk instead of whatever Pakistani/Jeet nonsense:
I recently got myself a mk8 and Im quite fond of it. Infotainment really is shit but overall it really is the car of the people.
Base model is pretty solid too

inb4 that's the R not the GTI
it's still 52k € or $61k the R is some extra options as standard and a tune.
$61k for a 4 banger tablet on wheels?
nope.

jesus, why are they so expensive for you euros?
you'd think they'd charge the foreign markets more, not their own domestic market
they start at $50k in the states and that's with the performance package being standard
granted $50k is still $50k and the US models have gayer tail lights and the Matrix headlights are deactivated plus now they're selling us a $4k package for worse seats, no moonroof, and a meh exhaust
flipside is that's the Mk8.5
the Mk8, while having slightly less power from the factory and the haptics aren't as fine-tuned, has a *slightly* more tolerable dashboard screen and not a fuckhueg ipad glued to the dash
and they're already down in the $40k range albeit VW only gives us a 50k mile/4yr warranty so buying secondhand isn't as forgiving if the Mk8 you pick up is a lease that was driven into the ground

You can get the clubsport muffler here in the US and that can get you sounding like a clubsport
the steering wheel can be bought OEM for beaucoup bucks but if you're comfortable with aliexpress you can get them much cheaper
other than that, any flash tune will get you extra power
So not that hard if you have the money for it

>Free from all the rock chips and dings that it's gotten the past couple years... Feels bad
sorry to hear that anon, but shit happens.
I bought a BMW three years ago and on my way home, after obtaining the car, some construction site truck dropped a big pile of mud and rocks from its wheel arch.
that mud ball exploded because this happened on the highway at 80 mph and chipped my car to hell and back.
there's nothing I could do. it happened too fast, no dashcam installed yet and this still happened, despite me having enough distance to the truck. but the debris bounced several times before hitting my car.
have you considered fixing the chip damage?
