Historic and collector tags have minimal taxes and are supposed to be limited.
In my state it's always been that historic tags can only be driven to shows and exhibitions, not even to the grocery store.
All they have to do is register the car normally and they can drive all they want.

Don't respond to the faggot, just ignore them. They so desperately want to be frosty but never will be.

>Only if they're registered with classic plates. Just stop being a poorfag and pay the full registration fee.
>yeah just keep paying the government hundreds of dollars every year for 50, 60, 70+ years to use your property. Effectively paying the government an annual tax, adding up to many times over the purchase price of the vehicle.
When you're so far gone you see no problem with this system. Sad.

The very rigid frames of old are what got people killed anon, a modern car saves your life by crumpling to shit and redistributing crash forces, I've seen fatal old car crashes where the car isn't even that smashed but the driver's dead because they didn't know how to make cars that deccelarate you

>Effectively paying the government an annual tax, adding up to many times over the purchase price of the vehicle.
I just registered a '98 a few months ago. Cost me under $70 total to register and my annual fees plus ad valorem are going to be something like $12 a year. Idk if other states are different but older vehicles are cheaper to register to the point that the collector plate is pointless.

>idk why states are so butt hussled about classic car plates.
Cara prior to the 90s were so garbage the government knew you couldn't realistically use one as a commuter and avoid the debt-usury system our country runs on. Now that a 2001 Corolla is a classic and can run 750k miles without issue while avoiding usury and registration fees it's a big problem for the state.
Boomers crying about it are basically admitting their old cars are trash.

>All these words to justify 40k+ and hundreds in taxes for a shitty modern car.
I spent $4k on my car this January. $65 to plate and register with normal ful-tax reg, it'll be $12/year in taxes and fees. My old man just spent $1,600 to register his new truck and it'll be $500 each year.
Oh yeah and it's reliable, parts are cheap, I can get a full set of okay US/jp tires installed and balanced for under $500. Headlight? $10, twist the old one out, pop the new one in. It's pretty awesome, and it's RWD manual wishbones, why spend multiple times more on something I would enjoy less?

>Illinois
>$150/year registration, not tax-deductible
>classic/antique tags only intended for use in parades, driving to shows, etc
>emissions test every other year, no exemptions due to age unless pre-OBD2 or alternative fuel

That's the thing. They don't.
I got the exact car I wanted, I spent months looking. RWD, manual, wishbones, lsd. $4,000. And I've had one before for a decade so I know every bolt. Can't complain about that.
No debt, no financing. In fact, I'm 100% debt-free baby!
All the extra money I earn can go to other things, I can quit my job if I want, I'm not tied down. That's freedom.
When I see a new Merc SUV, I don't think "daaaaamn, she's rich," I don't think about it at all. This whole culture of going into debt for things you don't need is [a reason] why our economy is in shambles.

Depends on the state and how you and they define “daily use”. in NH, my motorcycle is an antique, even though it looks modern. I’m not allowed to register it with antique plates for the purpose of commuting, but i work from home, so, i can just drive it anywhere i want every day. If some cop sees me riding it, and says, “hey i think thats the same cool dude that was riding that cool bike yesterday, i’ll ticket him for driving his antique daily” i could fight the ticket and win simply because i do not commute and any daily driving i do is not commuting.

>In New Jersey, vehicles at least 25 years old can be registered as "Historic" (QQ plates) if used solely for exhibitions, club activities, parades, or limited pleasure driving, rather than general transportation. These vehicles are exempt from inspection but have strict usage restrictions.
Driving an antique plate to a social gathering or to guy buy things from a store is illegal.

Not quite.
Its unenforceable.
>may not be used for general transportation
I can drive it to work to show it to my buddy.
I can take it for a leisurely cruise to the grocery store.
>no mileage restrictions
I can drive it to work every day because my personal belief is that daily use will keep the brake rotors from rusting

Wrong.
You even posted why youre wrong.
>limited pleasure driving
There is no definition of what that limit is.
Nobody has ever been prosecuted for taking their classic on a beer run.

I knew this post would come, I fuckin' knew it! Yeah!
The limit varies by state but it's usually illegal to drive it for non-show purposes.
Sure, you'll never have a cop challenge you on it. But it's illegal.
Do you think illegal immigration is wrong?
Do you think it's okay that any form or amount of cannabis in my state (even CBD) is a felony and growing one weed plant is a minimum-mandatory (judge cannot override) 10 years-to-life?
You're the one cheating the tax man out of $25.

But youre wrong.
There are zero states that say "you can ONLY drive it to X"
EVERY state has a caveat that gives you a legal reason to drive it whenever the fuck you want
Go ahead and link the actual fucking laws (like i did).
>may not be used for general transportation.
My beer run isnt "general".
Its a specific event.
Eat a dick, faggot.

Perhaps YOU should read the fucking LAW more closely.
>general transportation
My beer run is not general.
Its specific.
I can drive my classic to the liquor store BECAUSE THATS WHAT I WANT TO DO WITH IT.
>you dont have a specific car for beer runs? You sound poor.
Hey guess what... I drove my classic to work today (and yesterday and the day before that) because...in my opinion... it needs to have the brake rotors scrubbed to prevent rust.
Or hey, check this one out
I drove it to work every day this month to "show it off" to co-workers.
Eat a dick, faggot.
100% within the letter of the law.
