I hope you know a guy, because with no experience trucking at all its gonna be near impossible. Even if you had some OTR its hard getting into it because you need some knowledge on handling livestock, though there might be a couple companies who would ease you into it.

I'm not gatekeeping shit, man. Just ask any cattle hauler. If you wanna get into driving, start with general cargo (dryvan, reefer, flatbed) and get into specialized after a year or two. Its the most surefire way to get where you want. I did OTR for 2 amd a half years and now I'm starting to get into fuel hauling.
I don't like to chase newbies away, I encourage people to get into trucking. I love what I do and think others like me will love it too. But I gotta be realistic at the same time.

But that's clearly not true as shown by recent debacles perpetrated by immigrant given licenses by DMV's more interested in virtue signaling than safety. It may not take a super genius but there's gotta be at least something going on upstairs too.

Linehaul chud here. I drive a stretch of I80 in Nebraska every day. Been doing my route for 6 years. The amount of Indians I see drive by me with their foot on the dashboard and their phones in their hand is disgusting. I was almost ran off the road last week because one swerved into my lane. It’s gotten so much worse in the past few years. I can’t believe how many of them there are. I got in a fight with one at Loves in Aurora because he parked in the fuel isle to take a shower. They hold me hostage at the pumps at least once a week.

Its simple. If you see one park where cameras have poor/no view, pull their 5th wheel and stick a rock in between their tandems. They never pretrip, and chocking the trailer ensure nobody else gets caught up in it.
>>

I got divorced before I even got my cdl and I bang chicks I meet on the road as well as still throwing my ex a bone occasionally. Anyone that tries to be married doing OTR is a faggot nigger retard.

Got fucking robbed bro.
I woke up within 2-3 minutes of them starting to fuck with the trailer and stopped them with only half a pallet gone and got insurance from the police and somehow dispatch is STILL chewing my ass that I should've parked better when I'm literally on a designated truck parking spot at a gas station on the highway with lights in front of me.
Fuck this job.

Finally submitted my application for a way better company with only a few weeks left in my first year with the place I started at. Hoping it goes well bros, everything sounds promising so far. Also hoping when I get on there I can never have to come back to NJ/NY/MA ever again for the entire rest of my career or at least if I do I don't get stuck running regional in this shithole for weeks at a time making nothing to do it.

>two week
Anon it's 70 hours in 8 days.
You were keeping track of your clock and informed them that you didn't have the clock to finish the load before picking it up, right? The clock is the clock and nobody in the business gets mad that you can't drive past a certain point, but you do need to stay ahead of it and inform them if you can calculate the load just ain't gonna work. They may want you to pick it up anyway and take it down the road as far as you can and have someone else pick it up from that point, or they might want you to stay where you are, get your 34 in, and just cancel or reassign the load.
"The load needs to get there by n and at n - 1 I'm still going to be an hour away and out of clock" -- you don't sit there saying nothing until n - 1 because that fucks them. They can't get someone to instantly teleport to you to pick it up. But if you let them know hours beforehand they can schedule a meetup and everything continues to run smoothly.

Bulbheads are somehow worse than Indians. 9/10 times whenever there's another truck being a general nuisance and an obstacle on the road, doing stupid shit like slowing down for absolutely no reason, not rolling at a consistent speed, and then speeding up when you try to pass, it's always a fucking bulbhead or some other black as night African that just floated over here on a tire last week.
Indians are dangerous on the road but at least they don't get in your way like these fucking click clacks do.

The only time I've ever had another semi intentionally try to run me off the road it was an Indian behind the wheel. So you can forgive me or kiss my ass as applicable for not being a big fan of most of them. There are good ones, they're not all bad, but the streetshitters fresh off the boat that drive like they're still in Mumbai fucking suck and even other Indians will tell you that.
Maybe going off a mountain is too much. But for at least one of them that nearly killed me intentionally, they absolutely deserve it and I hope it happens before they kill somebody else.

If I'm tired and need a nap I just tell dispatch and by law they can't do shit about it. Now if I abused that and was a lazy bum they would eventually force me out, but if I legitimately just need an hour or two to catch up on sleep - even if it would make the load late - they'd rather the shit get there late than have it scattered across the highway and be paying my life insurance out as well as lawsuits for whoever I hit. It's only the shady shitholes like SuperEgo that were forcing guys to drive tired under threat of retaliation.

Don't nobody wanna fuck no truck driver. I don't blame 'em. You're never home and having a relationship is basically impossible unless they have a cdl and the two of you are team driving. Best case scenario you basically have someone that lives in your house while you're on the road that wouldn't mind fucking you on your time off but even then unless you're insane you just have to accept they're probably gonna be fucking other people on the side. Save the relationship shit for when you have a regional route and can be home more often.

Doesn't get much easier then either, you're still gone pretty much all the time. I've got a dedicated gig that gets me home pretty much every day but I'm still working 70 hours a week, doesn't exactly leave much time to date; people get tired of trying to work around your schedule.

My clock ran out while waiting for roadside to arrive on the interstate; I made sure to ask them how to proceed with exceeded hours, once I could get moving again, and they said drive to the nearest safe haven. There was a Pilot 5 minutes away, so I proceeded there – they still gave me a fucking warning.
>>
>>
>>
>>28948518
If you're advancing the load getting to safe haven that's not allowed. You have to go the opposite direction you need to go to find parking. It's nigtarded. Just start looking for parking once you get down to two hours left so you don't get fucked, you should really trip plan that at the beginning of the day though.

Truckerpath. Literally tells you available and projected parking, has reviews for other places from other truckers, even has halfass decent navigation if you have your shit configured properly for height length and weight. Only downside is it costs 35$ a month and the app is vibecoded by dalits so you have to force close and reopen it every couple hours. I use it literally every day and I think anyone that doesn't use it or complains about the cost is a retard or a nigger or a retarded niggardly faggot.
>>
>>28952518
Git gud. After about six months you won't be a completely retarded shitheap. After about a year you'll start being somewhat competent when it counts. After about five years you'll be bretty gud.
No matter what tho if you're not sure you're not gonna hit something just get your fat ass out and look. Even if you are sure still do it occasionally. If anyone gives you shit flip them off and escalate it into a fistfight or brutal parking lot stabbing if they have the stones to get out and confront you.

Fuckerpath isn’t going to help the fact I had no choice but to advance the load, forcing me to violate my HOS, once the repair has been completed.
Also, you don’t need to pay a subscription to look at parking availability, numbnuts. The Pilot I went to was also the closest truck stop from my location. If the breakdown hadn’t occurred, I would have reached the truck stop I had planned on shutting down at, with an hour remaining on my clock.

It’s 2026… what makes you think everyone is wanting to talk on the CB, these days?
Also, adjust your squelch and RF gain to make sure you’re getting reception. Also, do a radio check, you retard. Surely, there’s someone nearby with their CB on that will respond.
>>
>>
>>28954122
Even 15 years ago you had to be in a city to get much chatter and it wasn't a lot. Most times it was some mud jockeys talking. About the only time things really got going was in backups. Also every skip jackass wanting to use 19 during the day sucks and has driven people away.
That said, you should absolutely have one because it's still faster than an app for roadside hazards and backups plus just talking to some guy trying to figure out where to go at a shipper. IME, just plopping a radio in on factory wiring has always ended up with poor range, with one truck I had being less than 1/4 mile. I don't know what all it takes to fix them because they've always been company trucks that I could be swapped out of on a moments notice.

>should I have it wired to the battery?
Maybe? I dunno.
I have checked the SWR on most of the trucks I've used and none have been under 2 and most way over 3 which is said to be due to poor grounding of the antenna and the surrounding metal components and then fine-tune with antenna length once you're down under 2. There's a whole rabbit hole to go down on that so I'll leave you to it. But get a SWR meter first so you have some sort of info about what's going on.

If the pallets weren't loaded properly then the blame can be shifted to the shipper but most of the time, the blame is placed on the driver since the load shifted during transit.
Happens all the time – just be careful with your driving, and try to avoid sudden movements and/or strong lateral G's

This is a god damn DOT violation and the only reason the trailer should be hooked to a truck is if it's being taken to the trailer shop, for repairs.

The French don't really concern themselves with things like straight or gay or respecting monogamy. They just fuck. It's why their bloodline has literally wrapped around the globe and back many many times throughout history. I fully believe he would've sucked the soul out of your dick while his beard tickled your balls and then gone home to pound a load into his slutwife's hairy bush without spending a single second considering whether or not he was gay or straight because of the events earlier that day. For shorthaul or city stuff in particular it would probably be serviceable. Weighing a shitload more because of the batteries and having shitty range kinda kills it for OTR, for that you'd want an Edison.

Shit like that is why I don't do reefer. I can deal with the noise, hell I park next to the fuckers intentionally, but the first time I get that shit rejected I'm doing 15mph in reverse with the doors open and moving on with my life.

I see these occasionally out east of Denver. How do their tires not overheat? What are they using?

N-rated tires, not running that fast in the daytime when the pavement is hot, stretching the frame or at least running the fifth wheel all the way back to get as much weight off the steers as possible. Just because they can do 110 doesn't mean they're going that fast for long stretches of time if they can help it, they usually stay between 85-95 and they try to run at night for the most part.
There's a way to do it safely. It's the only reason they don't get hassled when loaded, if they get too retarded they can still get pulled over when loaded even if cattle start dying because of it because the cops stop giving a fuck if you get too stupid. Good cattle haulers only go as fast as they need to and generally that's about 80-90mph.

In a lot of the states I run in you can get shot for that kind of shit or at least get your ass beat and the person doing it isn't going to be in trouble at all. Don't touch shit that isn't yours without explicit permission. The single only exception to that a reasonable person would make at a truck stop is folding someone's mirrors in so you don't clip them pulling in or out of a spot and I still prefer to ask before doing that.

Only half? Man, you guys got it easy over there. KY and OH you don't dare to go in any truck RA at night because you'll get trapped by jackasses just popping the brakes where-fucking-ever.

If you work for a mega you're almost certainly getting fired if anyone has footage. If you're an O/O you're still risking trouble if you do it to the wrong one and someone gets your info on camera. Save that energy for rolling coal while you pass by the AI trucks.

>into no shower at the gas station

Most elogs have an inspection mode that locks the cop out from seeing anything but your last 7 days. Activate it (ask your safety guys how) and give him that, your license, the trucks insurance and registration from the permit book. Just follow his instructions and be respectful, even if you think them pulling you over is bullshit. If you weren't doing anything wrong chances are its just an inspection from an ongoing safety blitz. If not there are plenty of lawyers that work with truckers if you care to fight the ticket. I had Klepper Law a while ago and they saved me from a bullshit ticket from a bored statie in Alabama. Small monthly fee for coverage and just $100 when it comes time to sic them on whatever cop is trying to fleece you.

The driving school I'm at exclusively uses freightliners as training vehicles. This is a month long course and I've barely gone through my first week, about when will they teach me how to get the fat lot lizard wife who will have a kid who's skin color does not match mine or hers?

Europe does not get nearly as hot as Arizona or Texas, Nigel. There's plenty of livestock guys that aren't hauling ass all the time or even for most of the year. The ones that do are generally working in much hotter areas or they're incredibly busy. They also usually aren't the ones killing motorists, that would be newbs and foreigners that didn't do shit the right way and fatties nodding off from a diabetic episode or other health event. Bull and other livestock haulers usually have trucks that are very well maintained if not a good detailing session away from being show trucks so they can run those speeds safely.

I managed to fix it myself, it was very strange
Both check engine lights were on and the DPF light was flashing, engine protection cutoff coming on saying I needed to do a regen
Would do the regen no problem, but it wouldn’t clear the codes
Tried disconnecting the batteries for a while, no luck
When I moved to the shop (im in a TA parking lot) I noticed the MPH wasnt limited to 5 like an actual derate does, which told me it was some kind of glitch going on
I circled the parking lot a few times and the codes cleared
Huge relief because the shop here said they wont touch it as the truck is brand new (40k miles) and the closest dealer doesnt open until monday

do people actually do this instead of buying a real truck?
>>
>>
>>28976354
About 1-2mpg worse depending on what you're hauling and where. It's really only worth it if you just fucking hate DEF systems and don't mind running paper so you can do 800+ miles in a day and tell DOT to do a barrel roll off a cliff. If you're buying new trucks in the classic style you're a retard with more money than sense. Either go plastic fantastic and deal with def or buy something pre-08 or pre-01 and eat the higher maintenance costs and lower quality of life so you can supertrucker your nuts off.
>>
>>28976420
Is it even worth buying 20 year old, 2+ million mile trucks? Wouldn't they probably be falling apart at the seams? I have a small, intrusive voice in the back of my head saying to become an o/o even though I know its probably not a good idea given the markets.
>>
>>28977195
>wowee ive got my own truck
>look at all this money im making
>everythings pure profit and i get to keep it all
>oh fuck my transmission expooided
>its going to cost me HOW MUCH
>wait, a single new tire costs HOW MUCH, and I need 6 of them?
>>
>>28977441
Yeah thats how it be. Last winter my 5th wheel jaw locked up and I couldn't connect to a trailer despite being lined up just fine. Mobile mechanic came out, poked it with a crowbar, said the grease was just cold and charged the company $500 for coming out.
>>
>>28977195
You're not buying them to run them as they are. You're buying them to rebuild them like new and then run them because the truck and engine being older than 08 means no def and older than 01 means no ELD required. The only thing that's actually old is the frame and as long as it's in good condition or at least good enough to be repaired someone will keep running it because they hate DEF or they also hate ELD's.
It's something you don't do unless you're fucking loaded.
