The entire business makes them treat other people as tools or marks.

They will lie to you and, if they can't find anything, they will often try to inconvenience you as much as possible to piss you off to get you an obstruction charge.

Police forces will literally refuse to hire someone if he seems too intelligent.

People are drawn towards police work if they are authoritarian bullies, and it drives normals away from police work. Even if the pay is decent and the benefits are good, why would anyone want to work around cops? The only reason you would want to do that is if you want to be able to fuck with innocent people and ruin their lives.

So it's a vicious cycle of awfulness begetting awfulness. The "defund the police" people should really have focused on breaking the cycle and starting over but instead they pushed this idea that we don't need laws, and needless to say that was a no-go for any reasonable person so we're stuck with this shit forever.

there was several cases of police giving random fines for techincal issues with cars here, they where power tripping, and the few who dared taking it to court won and the police lost. so now they dont deal with anything technical matter, they only strand you if your car is clearly unsafe or illegal and if in a doubt they have to let you through they can only order you to go to a road authority inspection.
it resulted in a clear split, police control the law, speed, drunk driving etc. road authority control the actual vehicles.

i live in the suburb of a major city. people drive like retards on the poorly maintained highway near me (US 422), to the extent that there are accidents nearly every day from people, including semi trucks and dump trucks, tailgating and driving 30+ mph over the speed limit on a poorly designed highway covered with massive potholes and road debris from wrecks.

the local and state police could write a million a day in tickets just by enforcing traffic safety laws. occasionally some lazy pig nigger will park his patrol car in the emergency u-turn lane with his lights on for an 8 hour shift, without ever taking action and writing a ticket.

the police will, however, randomly pull people over on side roads, and write them tickets for administrative violations like lapsed inspection/registration.

I'm white, have a nice car, and I'm respectful whenever I have an interaction with the police. I got pulled over a few days ago and the guy started out immediately aggressive, claiming he was yelling at me so I could hear him over the sound of traffic. He was every stereotype: fat, wearing Oakleys, bad haircut, the whole nine yards. When he came back after running my license, he claimed to see that I had to take a class for substance abuse or something last year, which confused me because I've never had any issues with substances. I don't know what these guys' fucking problem is. I hired a traffic attorney instead of paying the ticket.

Traffic cops should be specialists and also cops should have the same level of training as a firefighter instead of just being told they're proud warriors and every civilian they come across is trying to kill them.

I'm a deputy sheriff and have a pretty unique perspective because I've worked for different agencies. A big city PD where we had zero time to do traffic enforcement, a small town PD where we were forced to do it and had quotas, and now a county where we have time but aren't required to.

The big city was a traffic nightmare, everyone driving like an asshole because traffic laws weren't enforced. The small town everyone was on their tip toes, going only the speed limit and making full stops at stop signs. The county people are just retarded and rude to each other on the road, would likely be solved with some traffic enforcement. To put it in perspective, each deputy writes an average of .4 traffic tickets per year. So not even an average of 1 per deputy. Traffic enforcement is basically all done by the state police, who are active here, so there is some enforcement making it not chaotic like the city was. There wasn't even really traffic in the city, just crazy assholes.

The biggest issue with asshole cops is guys who came out of the military. Just this week I took 2 rape cases. One victim a 3 year old, one a 13 year old but it happened when she was 8. Both raped by family members. We arrested the 3 year old rapist on a case that took just over 24 hours total. The one who raped his daughter is going to take a bit more time, but they're separated for now so it's not as pressing.

Yeah I need to focus on this type of shit and be ready for the plethora of daily DV and fight calls, not be stuck on traffic stops or having to look for such petty violations. It's more of a staffing issue really. There's not a lot of deadly traffic accidents here, the deadly ones happened mostly in the small town PD where we did a lot of traffic enforcement.
