There's no reason to wash your car more than twice a year
You wash it once in spring to get the road salt off
You wash it once in the fall to get the underside nice and clean before refreshing your yearly lanolin undercoat
It's that simple

Your wheels must look like rusted ass and your paint must be 5+ years older than it really is.

North America has temperature swings in the winter which causes ice which needs salt to keep it melted. Lanolin is sheep juice which is the chemo to the road salt cancer.

There are considerably better alternatives such as cosmoline rp-342, which when applied once (properly!) should last 5+ years. The oxidative state of cosmoline is a tough, thick product that becomes virtually impenetrable. Apply it to a clean underside during a period of warm dry weather and forget about it.

I use lanolin on show leather and some woods. I would never use it for a machine.

Absolutely disgusting!
Show up in a dirty car, and you may as well wear dirty clothes and not shower. If I'm taking my weekend toy out somewhere, I'll always give is an instant detailer wipe down really quick.

Super thick coatings like that can also seal moisture in which will just accelerate rust. They're a good idea on a brand new vehicle with zero rust. Lanolin definitely makes a difference in slowing down what rust is already there.
