Meanwhile in Krakow the residents liked the introduction of a clean transport zone so much that they recalled the politician responsible for it in a referendum (Aleksander Miszalski - because such leftists also have names and surnames)

Efficient car infrastructure is superior because America is a Giant place physically. You don't want to nerf your cities efficiency just because some tiktokers hopped on a trend influenced by tiny European countries.

Cars allow you to go anywhere, anytime, with minimal energy investment.
The contrary restricts you.

Also, if you are a builder, DIY guy, or trade worker you will never be able to load materials on a fucking bicycle.

All of the businesses within the cities will be charged more for delivery due to it bring much more difficult and time consuming to reach each location to drop off goods.

Walkable cities are a European premise, which is fine for them because they're smaller. America on the other hand, will always be better as a car centered infrastructure. Our highway systems and whatnot also helped us win WW2 because we can transport munitions so swiftly anywhere.

Do you know what a people centric city is called?

The suburbs. Just move to one of those instead of trying to reinvent the wheel.

News flash pal, we have trains.

Trains doesn't resolve any of the points I mentioned.
>Hard set locations
>Inability to haul whatever large items you may need such as building materials, furniture, even large grocery runs

For short sighted inner urban yuppies like yourself, trains/trollies/lightrails are good for dense inner urban cities but they are NOT a direct REPLACEMENT for thr tried and true automobile.

People like you are the stick and the bicycle meme because you're out of touch

you could just like... park outside the city and then use transit inside it.

need to move shit? rent a truck
do it for work? good, you get paid to sit in traffic (which there will be less of since less people drive)

idk why car guys are against walkable cities. all the people driving soulless bugmobiles will be on the train instead, which means less traffic for you, less chance of a zoomer on their phone crashing into you, and cooler cars from manufacturers

Are cities have roads, which are as fundamental to their existence as cars
>>
>>28975482
>t. has never driven innacity
>>
>>28975591
>why car guys are against walkable cities
Because those guys who spent most of their life in an environment not suitable for humans just walking cannot comprehend that walkable cities can be nice, and driving for fun can be done elsewhere.
To reduce both physical and mental reliance on cars you need viable alternatives to cars.
>>
>>28975470
Unironically yes.
Makes city centers smaller, less traffic outside the city center, and even traffic inside the city isn't that bad because people who don't need to haul stuff don't drive.
Wouldn't work in the US though, it's too late, the cities are already total dogshit.
>>

You will live in the pod.

And stupid leftist can't comprehend living anywhere outside of a city where cars are necessary.
Lefties can't comprehend any type of work requiring a vehicle. All they've done their whole life is walk on carpet.
Seeing AI absolutely rape the office jobs has been satisfying.
>>
>>28975864
I don't know what you are talking about. Are there schizos advocating for zero-emission zones and car-free areas in countryside or what?
>>
>>28975807
Based take. All these faggots who think that if you support walkable cities with efficient public transportation and bike lanes that you are automatically a leftist commie are stupid cocksuckers who can barely afford their car payments.
>>
>>28975864
no one serious is advocating for abolishment of car ownership. no one serious thinks that people who live in rural areas can get by without cars. at most people are advocating for rural small towns to be designed in a way to be walkable, so that the people who choose to live in those towns can most of the time get around without a car. i lived in rural Indiana. you need a car there. but i could also drive to Bloomington, park somewhere, walk to all the places i needed, then get back in my car and drive home. Bloomington isn't rural but you get the point; drive to the city, park, walk around, then drive home.

these abolish car 'leftists' aren't actual activists man, you're just getting lied to by the media into thinking these people matter. the only place i've seen anyone claim that we should abolish car ownership is reddit. leftist doesn't even mean anything cohesive anyways. you ask 50 people who are economically left what their views are and you'll get 50 different responses. i mean ffs, a lot of the 'commie'fornia leftist voters are just virtue signaling republicans.

I took a low key vacation to a lake/resort town for a week and took my fishing kayak and 9 bass rods + tackle with me. I stayed at a hotel and drove from the hotel to different boat ramps to launch the kayak and fish each day then got a bite to eat at a different restaurant afterwards. HOW IN THE FUCK DO YOU DO THAT ON A TRAIN? Are non Americans all NPCs that do nothing but stand around at various locations such as home, work and train station waiting for playable characters to interact with them? I refuse to believe you nocars are real people.
>>
>>28975889
was the resort town in the middle of a city?
>>
>>28975591
>park your car outside the city and then use other transit inside city.
That's extremely fucking stupid idea, Switch transport to another transport. Better just drive my own car to get things that I want/need, then return back into home.
>>
>>28975878
Small towns are already walkable. No one wants to walk in America unless its to "go for a walk" where the activity is the walking. We're all buys bodies and thought of walking to go do something when we can just drive there, even if is a few blocks away, is inconceivable. I live in a small town and everyone drives golf carts around town to go visit neighbors or take kids to the park. These distances are all walkable but they dont. Able body people are regularly dropped off at the grocery store front door because they dont want to walk 100 feet across the parking lot. Americans dont walk.
>>
people say stupid shit like this like i havent been to tokyo. you dont have a car problem, you have a groid problem.
>>
>>28975899
>extremely fucking stupid idea, Switch transport to another transport
You are right, people should stop taking a taxi/bus/train when going to/from an airport.
We should widen the streets to avoid this retardation.
>>
>>28975899
But driving in cities fucking sucks, I'd rather just walk.
>>
>>28975903
Distances are just one part of walkability though.
Are sidewalks continuous, or interrupted by side-streets? Are there trees to provide shade? Is there any beauty around? Are there small shops around you on your way to the grocery shop?
An environment where you can walk but it isn't pleasant is not exactly walkable in our european sense.
>>
>>28975889
rent the kayak and bass rods for like $30/day, put the tackle in a backpack. probably cheaper than buying them.

then, you just take the train (more likely the tram) to the place you want to fish, rent the gear, fish, then take the tram to the restaurant. alternatively, if it's a walkable city, you just walk to the place you want to fish at, then walk to the restaurant, then walk back to hotel. total walking time - 30 mins.

most of city living is sharing - you share space, bikes, streets, etc. with everyone in the city.
>>
>>28975899
it's faster and more pleasant, idk what to tell you man

>Are they all NPCs that do nothing but stand around waiting for playable characters to interact with them?
they live small lives. there’s nothing wrong with wanting to live a modest life in and of itself, the issue is that they want to prescribe it on everybody.
they can’t be happy with their 400 sqft apartment if somewhere out there a 3,000 sqft house exists. not because they want it, but because they deem it wasteful and can’t let anybody be wasteful.
you need to justify your truck ownership to them. when you say its to haul your boat, they don’t think that’s a justification, they think you shouldn’t have a boat either.
>>
>>28976124
>there’s nothing wrong with wanting to live a modest life in and of itself
>the issue is that they want to prescribe it on everybody.
That second point, is the single biggest problem I see in all of society. "Freedom, MY way." That's not how freedom works.
>>
>>28976124
>>28976135
the problem with the notion of freedom is that there is no such thing as freedom for all. in the context of transportation, a place that is great for cars is horrible for pedestrians. inversely, a place that is great for pedestrians is horrible for cars. people who drive and people who walk/bike need to compromise. that's what happens in Europe, Seattle, Montreal, etc. these places have streets that allow cars, but also allow for trams, bikes, and pedestrians.

also the idea that living in an apartment is "modest" is ridiculous. some people (most people) don't want to mow a lawn, or fix their water heater when it fails, or manage their sump pump. they just want a place to live, close to the city where all the social life is. this is well understood in Europe, but in NA there's this idea (probably sold to everyone by corporations) that you need a standalone house with a lawn and a garage, and anything under that is a compromise. in reality, they're both great places to live, but for different people.

>they can't be happy with their 400 sqft apt if somewhere out there a 3000 sqft house exists
most of my friends live in condos (600-900 sqft) (apartments that they bought) and are incredibly happy. they are married and have children. you do not need a single family home to be happy, or to have a family. i know a few car free people, all i've ever heard them complain about is how close a car got to hitting them when they were crossing the street.
>>

Ah yes.

Live in the hive.
Take the random service industry job within walking distance.
Eat the random food within walking distance.
Associate with the random people within walking distance.

BTW, nothing is random.
It will be a multicultural cesspit where you're forced to sit next to Habib and Pedro at the diner.
Your boss will be Achmed and your neighbor will be Jamal.
You child's school will look like the wall of color samples in the paint department at Home Depot.
And you will have no escape from it all.
>>
>>28975889
How do walkable cities or trains affect you in this example in any way?
>>
>>28976186
>live in the hive
this is not a bad thing. social people like to live in communities. i get that everyone on 4chan is autistic and anti-social and hates this idea, but outside of this godforsaken website, people want to live in a community. remember, just because the city is designed to accomodate both cars and people, does not mean you need to live in the city. the countryside is beautiful, peaceful; it's where i choose to live, and you can too! it's a lot cheaper!

>take the random service industry job within walking distance
most of my condo friends work in software or MBA bullshit jobs. service sector, sure, but they pay well. idk the alternative in modern day America. factory jobs just don't really exist anymore, at least in useful capacities. i know i would prefer a comfy office job (service) over a job that involves manual labor

>eat the random food within walking distance
you can take the train or bus too, they're about as fast as driving. it's nice that cities have so many cultures; you can eat authentic chinese food one day, then authentic pakistani food the other day, and they're all better for you (and cheaper than) mcdonalds.

>associate with the random people within walking distance
this is actually awesome. back when i lived in an apartment i knew all of my neighbors. we would just hang around outside, drink some beer and shoot the shit every weekend. once again, i get most of 4chan is antisocial and autistic, but hanging out with neighbors is actually awesome.

>multicultural cesspit
idk i like talking to people who have different opinions, world views, lifestyles, life experiences.
>you (sic) child's school will look like the wall of color samples in the paint department
this is good. city kids will learn in an environment similar to that which surrounds them. they'll be exposed to a larger part of the world, a larger percentage of cultures, and be more well rounded. btw, i'm never having kids, i hate women too much

Nigger I have two, my own shoes and am thinking about getting a 3rd as a spare ball for picking up spares. If you actually like bowling you use your own balls and have balls for different lane conditions as well as a dedicated spare ball. I currently have an old reactive resin 90s strike ball and a modern partical resin strike ball.
>>

they'll probably get bullied or at least deprived of their education by a bunch of retards who would've been put in special ed pre-no child left behind best case.

at least in nyc you're fucked if you don't live in a asian majority area and get zoned to the same public school as ritesh and emily xu or didn't score well on the shsat (specialized public hs sat)

Nta but Yes.
A reactive ball is completely different.
An ideal shot is hitting the side of the head pin at an angle. A reactive ball will "hook" on its own.

I have a pretty wicked ball and I stand on the left side of the lane almost lined up with the left gutter. I throw my ball at the right gutter about 2/3 down the lane and at the last moment it hooks back into the head pin.

>>
>>28977137
Imagine making $150k a year and spending $3,500 a month on rent for a fucking 1 bedroom apartment.

5 years later you've earned 3/4 of a million dollars and youre still renting a fucking apartment and have just enough saved for a 1 week vacation.
>>
>>28977146
And the worst thing is that 1 bedroom apartment is shittier than a $1500 apartment in Dallas.
>>
>>28977137
honestly i disagree. the rent isn't nearly as bad as made out to be only because of rent stabilization + difficult housing courts + large housing supply.

the rest of the country is slightly cheaper but the jobs pay literally half as much and you can get evicted or your rent jacked up to 2x what you were paying before on every lease renewal (yes i know it sucks for landlords). there's people in florida making literally half what i make in pay for the same job, the lower taxes and housing costs isn't enough to offset the 50% pay cut.

im paying $2300/mo for a 2br/1bath 10 minutes away from the subway for example. everything else from bills to groceries to fuel costs the exact same as the rest of the country. the only thing i definitely pay more is on car insurance.

if you don't need to own a car public transit unironically is a lot cheaper at $120-200/mo for example too.

>>28977146

yeah but the flipside is any retard can make $100k a year and you can find a job easily.

>You can't get anything other than a studio for 2k in any of these cities.
You can easily rent a nice new build 1 bd with in-unit WD and pool access for less than $2000 in Dallas. You can get a decent place for that in LA/SF/SD. NYC housing is beyond fucked, and median income doesn't explain it. Earning $150k in NYC is like making $70k elsewhere. There's no good reason for anyone to live in NYC unless they are making at least $200k.

nyc housing only doesnt make sense if you factor in north brooklyn/manhattan, then the $5000/mo lofts and $8000/mo brownstones dwarf the $2-3000/mo apartments everyone else lives in

>california

apartments in cali start at $2000/mo in those places, literally just checked unless you consider oakland "sf" and inland empire as "la"

yeah forest hills is pretty close all things considered. if its <20 mins to a subway its going to be more expensive, because of density/desirability.

nyc/nys imports all of its electricity from upstate ny + quebec

America's whites low birth rates has nothing to do with rural areas, suburbs, non-dense cities. Watch a video "Divorce Corp" from youtuber "cesarrlc". then you see the real reason for low birth rates.

Ackshually, I only paid 39k federal taxes and 17k NYS taxes on 550k household kek

No, you can't. Even 40 minutes from LA/SD like North County and Orange County you cannot live for less than $2k a month. I paid $1500 in like 2005, lol.

Even middle America is quickly becoming unaffordable for young people within the city. Places like Dallas, Tulsa, Nashville. Fucking income has flat lined for like 20 years.

Unlike you, I have used public transit before. Sitting next to subhumans who could violently snap at any time, for hours on end, just to hop a couple miles, sucks. So does needing pocket money every time you want to go somewhere. So does waiting in the elements for the piece of shit to actually pull up, worried that it may have been delayed for 90min because FUCK YOU, that's why. The phrase "humiliation ritual" gets overused and thrown around this site a lot, because /pol/fags don't know how else to frame "doing things I don't like", but it really is a daily torment for those who HAVE to do it. It's hell. Hell is waiting in constant 20MPH winds with 30MPH gusts at below freezing, for a bus that hasn't come for 15 minutes, at 6AM, where it's just you, the wind, last night's ice slurry spilt everywhere, and your thoughts of having to work 10 hours sweating over a clamshell grill or pizza line when you get there. Hell is wondering if you'll get struck by lightning waiting for a train on an exposed platform, getting soaked to the bone so much that your phone shorts out and your SUPER IMPORTANT PAPERS DO NOT FOLD OR SPINDLE become soggy. I would never wish for someone's respite and transportation to be a tolled sweaty fartbox, containing other grimy grumpy people who had to go through the same actual torment. Being poor is a series of humiliation rituals interlinked that break down the human spirit, and public transit is one of the biggest.
>just bike or walk everywhere
You've never needed to grab multiple bags' worth of groceries, or look presentable and professional after a half-hour Tour de Sweat, I can tell.

The reason for low birth rates is that women who work don't have to put up with men anymore. Many don't. It's a world wide thing.
>>28978365
>280k in deductions
>146k income, so 426 gross
550-426= 124k other income
So $270k household income and 21% tax (plus sales tax, use tax, utility taxes, etc), unless that $280 is pure fraud.

Time for your nap, grandpa. That hasn't been the case for 40 years or more.

You can find decent apartments for $2000 or less in places like Long Beach, you just have to be willing to live next to the blacks, aka the same as in NYC.
