Unlike you, I have used public transit before. Sitting next to subhumans who could violently snap at any time, for hours on end, just to hop a couple miles, sucks. So does needing pocket money every time you want to go somewhere. So does waiting in the elements for the piece of shit to actually pull up, worried that it may have been delayed for 90min because FUCK YOU, that's why. The phrase "humiliation ritual" gets overused and thrown around this site a lot, because /pol/fags don't know how else to frame "doing things I don't like", but it really is a daily torment for those who HAVE to do it. It's hell. Hell is waiting in constant 20MPH winds with 30MPH gusts at below freezing, for a bus that hasn't come for 15 minutes, at 6AM, where it's just you, the wind, last night's ice slurry spilt everywhere, and your thoughts of having to work 10 hours sweating over a clamshell grill or pizza line when you get there. Hell is wondering if you'll get struck by lightning waiting for a train on an exposed platform, getting soaked to the bone so much that your phone shorts out and your SUPER IMPORTANT PAPERS DO NOT FOLD OR SPINDLE become soggy. I would never wish for someone's respite and transportation to be a tolled sweaty fartbox, containing other grimy grumpy people who had to go through the same actual torment. Being poor is a series of humiliation rituals interlinked that break down the human spirit, and public transit is one of the biggest.
