I'm not posting my bike in a thread that was started by a nobike.
And that map is obsolete. Why add it to the OP?

>the black latch hooks over the pin that sticks out of the plunger
>one removed from the bike doesn't compress far enough for that to be possible
>given how easily you're able to compress it
So if that black bracket is not a ratchet, what are the teeth for on the piston? Where's the ratchet that is supposed to stop tensioner from compressing when installed in the bike?
If my tensioner compresses all the way until stopping on spring wire bowtie - does that mean it is broken?
I thought cam chain tensioners only supposed to extend but not compress.
My idea is that as cam chain is looseing overtime, tensioner would extend through the teeth but ratchet would prevent it from compressing backward.
Mine compresses backward with minimum effort.

>the black latch hooks over the pin that sticks out of the plunger
You are right. New 20S12210100 are shipped with black latch hooked over pin that sticks out of plunger/piston.
I am going to assume that that shit-ass piece of spring tied in a bowtie around the plunger IS the ratchet. And mine was on the last tooth after I have taken it out.
Two possibilities:
1) when you take tensioner out, it loses compression against cam chain follower and thus extends all the way, clicking through teeth on the spring wire bowtie ratchet
2) my cam chain is so loose that tensioner is naturally on its last tooth
I've put tensioner in as it currently is at the bottom pic = the ratchet is on the last tooth so tensioner is in a MAX extended position.
The cam chain doesn't fucking budge when I try to pry it with screwdriver handle. It is TIGHT.
I don't know how much play is it supposed to have, should I leave tensioner like this or move ratchet up few teeth so it has more space to extend naturally to expected distance?
IDFK how I will achieve that given that it clicked through all teeth while I was taking it out, presumably.
>>
>>28975892
Those notches wouldn't work to hold the plunger in using the black latch, they're angled in the wrong direction. It almost seems like the clip should be on the furthest out notch, then when the tensioner is installed in the compressed state as the plunger extends over time as stuff wears it will move out, the clip will slide down, but because it can't slide in the other direction it will stop the plunger being able to going back in too far. That's my guess, yours has worn all the way so the tensioner is now at full extension.
>>
>>28975915
Yeah the clip (that I called spring wire bowtie before) is at the last tooth.
But I don't know if it was there before I've taken tensioner out or it clicked through teeth in the process.
Given that before taking tensioner out, the chain had slack, not much but I can see a little play when touching it.
After I reinstalled the tensioner - there is no play in the chain.
I think tensioner was not on the last tooth originally, it clicked through the teeth to full extension when I've taken it out.
The question is do I leave it as is or try to compress it to more modest length?
>>
>>28975820
it was only half accidentally. Adjusted suspension and it felt very light so I was trying to rock the bike and forth a bit while riding and thought what if I rock it back and bit the throttle and it just worked
> chicken out and can't break traction
sliding turns on sand are fun, worst case you low side it pretty slowly and it barely hurts. if you counter lean it’s very controllable

Guys what could i realistically trade the crf450rl timeline express for in another bike, what would be a good trsder to try something new?
Theres a sv650 i was thinking about cause it has the cafe racer type mod from factory, and it would be easy to make it a tanto upgrade heqdlight asaembly mod
Idk how to lowball myself on this bike or if im giving it away to cousin farm timeline, hes unresponaive and doing remote work it seems
11th is when the insurance jannids are basically cooked and i eithwr have to renews or go forever 1%er ststus if i want to ride
But if i traded this 'ku fir another 'ku, and you were in my clownshoes, with or without stealership network status: confirmed, what 'ku do you trade for, and assumed $0 syrup token transfers or deductions

>>28975964
I could mod it into one of these, get the miku express bucket, redeem r3 from his countersteering incident with a successive bucket transfer to the Shoom-i-verse™, and thus prevent the destruction of the nobike citadel?
>>
>>
>>
>>28975919
Ah yeah, that could have definitely happened. It looks like you can squeeze the ends of the clip with some pliers to open it up and then compress the plunger. Do you actually know if your tensioner needs replacing? My assumption is that it's the oil pressure that provides the majority of the tension and so with the engine off you will feel some slack in the chain, given how weak the spring force is I think it's just there to make sure it's not just flopping about when there's no oil pressure.

tanto sv looks good! i don't know shoom you kinda just had a fast af shoomer kawi, maybe something a bit more relaxed? i don't know how's the market for a crf and other bikes in maplecountry but if you could find a guzzi v7 you could start a cool uncle saga with one of those very peculiar V twins that shake a lot and with the clunky gearbox by design. i don't think you could get to trade the crf for something with a boxer twin but maybe you can also find an old R1200R? the 2009-2014 one.
Advdad says that the boxer twin is very special and you have to try it at least once and both options you have shaft drive so you don't explode another chain if you tour with them and they are a bit more "unique engines".
>>28975954
oh i was talking about turning it 90/180 by sliding the rear to turn back on dirt, not sliding DURING turns but i really wish i could learn how to do cool stuff like that. maybe in the future.
I'm still super tempted to get a crf but ironically the pre-2024 beta alp is even better but i can't find one close to me, i want to return as beta-anon but now with dual sport certification but it seems it might be harder and will have to keep pushing the svartpilen to it's offroad limit instead

I doubt it, I never get confused going between my mountain bike where the rear brake is the right lever and the front brake is the left. You'd think it would mess with your head but it just doesn't.
>>
>>28976046
I have unironically never rode a real motorbike. is the rear brake on the left-hand lever? i looked about to check my work too late after installing it all and thought it was clutch on the left and front brake on the right with rear brake on a foot pedal on a real motorcycle

Seemed like the right bike for my wants and needs. Needed something that would be comfortable on highways, but also honestly would like to try some light offroading that my last bike had trouble with because you don't have to worry about cars on dirt. Basically, I needed a bike that could do it all. Thought about the KLE 500, KLR 650, Honda Transalp, and Aprilia Tuareg but ultimately went with the T7 for, in order: more power, better highway comfort, better low end power, and better reliability.
There're no right answers, but this one seems to fit my needs for now. I hope so anyway, otherwise you guys will get to have a good laugh at my expense in the upcoming months.
>>
>>28976056
ok fair enough. honestly im a poorfag so ill probably never have a license because i need a full on car to get a license for a motorbike
>By "mountain bike" I mean my pedal bike
i figured, rear brake on bikes is almost always on the right hand afaik. i've just been preferring the front because of a mixture of driving game inspired larp about how front braking is better for suspension loading and my rear brakes do not exist
>>
>>
>>28976064
>and my rear brakes do not exist
Kek based.
Having good front brake control is definitely good. Rear is good for low traction I guess. I dropped my bike using the front brake on snow once and another time on gravel.
>>
>>28976065
>What's the point of Honda's e-clutch?
Firsf I've heard of it but Google says you can stop without stalling. That seems kinda nice I guess.
But I'm in the fuck electric gizmos camp. Who even needs quickshift? I can shift my Harley without the clutch I think sport bike fags can manage the same
>noooo I can't let off the throttle for even one microsecond
>>
>>28976066
for the brief like month i had a rear brake i only liked it because there was snow
>I dropped my bike using the front brake on snow once and another time on gravel.
same, i ate shit just trying to stop completely on a Multi Use Path on my old e-bike because there was black ice, and recently took the moped to a short section of trail to try it out and almost ate shit somehow even harder than on the ice front-braking hard because they made the trail literally end in a wall after a blind corner
>>
>>28976068
>>noooo I can't let off the throttle for even one microsecond
unironically i want to get a replacement drive sproket for my moped so i can run the chain through the derailleur. you can literally only shift under power and if you stall and are in 7th, well, guess you gotta use your hands

Fuel adjusted ZX-4RR is still 17lbs lighter than a ZX-6R while having more electronics on it and not a lot of places to actually lose weight for free besides a narrower rear wheel so it's not that pigfat, just presumably not as stiff (you do not ride hard enough to need it to be that stiff). I'd rather have a separate rear subframe.

It's a British company now owned by Indians, just like RE. Believe it or not, Norton has lots of racing pedigree and they even competed with the glorious CB750 back in the day. They even had wankel rotary engines at one point. It's a super cool company. They were a boutique bike company for a long time now but now owned by Indians.

One of the comfiest Honders ever made, It makes the right sounds. But, also take a test ride of the CB750, SV650 or MT07. If you are ok with older bikes, you can also get the glorious VFR. Some later models even came with ABS.
If you are considering the Aprillia 660, also consider the GSXR750, 600, CBR600RR and the R6. I don't wanna suggest the shitty R7, but you'll have easier time getting parts for it.

I wouldn’t say the Daytona is leading any pack in breaking feedback but there’s a good argument to be made that it’s the best bike in the 650 category right now. Everything else is a ptwin except for the Honda with its 4 cylinder engine. Twins have roque but no top end and Hondas inline 4 has poor low end torque and needs to be revved to make its power. The triumph with its three cylinder motor gets the best of both worlds. It has plenty of low end torque while not running out of power at the top end when you rev it out. The riding position is nearly identical to the cbr660r.

what do you think about this?
my friend sent me this and said the guy was interested in trading him for his piece of shit truck he's been trying to get rid of.
the seller said "it’s just an ignition switch" and his buddy checked it out for him he just doesn’t have the time right now to deal with it.
that sets off alarm bells for me a bit. but could you not just bump start it and see if it runs? or hot wire it and see if the lights come on? or if we can trigger the starter and get it to turn over that way?
i told him to not buy a project because who knows what could be wrong with it, but i imagine we could figure out pretty quickly if the bike is "ok" or not. what do you think?

>>
>>
>>28976468
>If it were just a simple issue, they'd fix it and sell it for a thousand more than what they are asking for
that is the vibe i get. my brain goes "well what if it is actually that simple?" i mean, we bypass the ignition switch and maybe it just starts up. but i also think that might be a bad vibe sort of thing.
like, if the seller is an old guy in a clean garage with other motorcycles, you know he probably takes care of his shit. but this one has a bad taillight, and it doesn't start, and the tires are bald... maybe he doesn't change the oil, or wash it regularly, or whatever. just a red flag that indicates the seller's character, that there might be other problems too

Not specifically. I'm just truying to diagnose violent RPM-dependent vibrations on the bike. I'm done investigating engine mounts, injection, ignition and intake already, now it's CCT time. Next I'll measure compression and ask the shop to do valve adjustment. Then IDFK what I'm going to do, the market here is slow and tiny it might take year or longer to sell a bike.

The only reason gen-x does not like bikes is because it's not popular on social media. If for some reason it is popular among some groups then they ride bikes for views. I've seen couple such channels on YouTube, they focus on short video format, curly hairs, black bikes, music over exhaust and expensive clothes. Basically riding bike is secondary for them on those groups.
>>
>>28976664
Yes and they take up space, and need money for maintinance.
If you don't have a garage and you have to park in the street they are easier to steal, if you do have a garage a car is a much better use of that space.
Think about this for 2 fucking minutes you retard, if you're young and have little money what are you gonna use your limited money and space for? A bike or a car that has enough storage space that you can use it to move and you use comfortably year round?
The answer is simple anon, even you can figure it out surely.

Newer good bikes aren't dirt cheap. Older bikes require more maintenance. It's either time or money, and their utility is limited, ultimately making them a costly toy.

The 660 has nearly nothing in common with the modern versions except seating position. It was 20 years ago when the Gsxr had 100 hp, and the power delivery is significantly different.

What it has in common is the price tag, actually looking at my nearest dealerships an RS660 is $1000 more expensive than a GSX-R600 and pretty much identical to a ZX-6R with ABS so you have to really want a Shitalian piss twin or get a way better insurance rate. >>
>>
>>28976600
Former owners developed a 200hp V4, Indians apparently fixed all its engineering issues and they released a tourer and they are not competing with the superbikes, apparently its tuned for fat torque curve in the middle and they are trying to undercut the price while still having all top quality parts, they are absolutely not turning a profit on this.

This is correct. But it makes zero sense. I should look for drivers' eyes in every crossection to make it safer? Wtf? Maybe I should tip my fedora after for each car as well? That's ridiculous.

>I should look for drivers' eyes in every crossection to make it safer?
yeah? were you not taught this as a child?
meeting eyes with drivers even as a pedestrian in the crosswalk confirms that they see you and are aware of you.
and if they can't meet your eyes because they're looking at their phone or staring the opposite way while they intend to turn without looking, that's important for you to know too.

Yeah I've had mine for 37,000 miles now. Ask away. Daily commuting all year round + long haul touring & grocery getting. I was looking for a VFR alternative that wasn't 245kg.
I'd say the aprilia is probably the best in class but it would have never done this many easy going miles as the honda.
Pros
>It's comfortable enough to tour on.
>Reliability is reasonable, only 1 shorted loom and a cracked OEM exhaust to write home about.
>Still fast. It'll hold 240 kph on the autobahn
>Good fuel economy if you baby it
>Virtually immune to rust. My roads are heavily salted in the winter and it doesn't care
>Back of the seat has deep padding
>Competent at cornering, responds well to wearing nice tyres but definitely falls into the 'stable' camp, not twitchy
>Extremely direct throttle feeling
>Good wind protection with smooth airflow to your helmet
>Immune to sidewinds. Somehow it can shrug off a 50mph sidewind like it's nothing
Cons
>the engine is gutless in the low revs and doesn't really have a crazy top end
>Buzzy! The bars and pegs buzz like crazy at 6,000 rpm which is where you are 80% of the time. Unpleasant.
>Fuel tank range is just 130 miles in reality
>Geared far too long. 60 mph in 1st means you gotta be doing 45 mph in 2nd to reach the start of the power band.
>Front of the seat has next to no padding
When I test rode an mt09 and a triple 765, I didn't feel like they were so much better than the 650 that I had to sell it.
I will probably replace the 650 with something else. Maybe a BMW r1200rs, Ducati supersport or a big cc cruiser. I don't think I like i4s or highly strung engines.

Similar style but is a mid-90s Italian two-stroke. Whole point is to ride around some Italian town looking cool, smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee.
I had to rewire the brake light recently. Bought a great crimping kit so this was my first time out on it since. Cabling was a real mess and a dangling lead touched the exhaust manifold and burnt though. I used 5 amp lighting cable in its place as I the brake light should be 2 amp.

Cbr650r anon here. CBR all the way. The r7 is too uncomfortable for 72hp. The tank is hilariously small too. If you must have that engine, get it in a tracer 700 chassis. Just as capable and more practical. Arguably the ninja 650 is better than the r7 but nobody wants to hear it.
Tuono 660 is the class leader by a big margin.

There are still pockets around the country that can still be lucrative like the bible belt. The best money was just after legalization when the market hadn't corrected yet. See, when it's illegal and therefore risky to do, there is tons of money to be made because supply stays low. Low supply+high demand=lots of money. Michigan went legal in 2010 but it took many years for the industry to actually commercialize. In the meantime the state didn't allow dispensaries so everyone had to keep buying their legal weed from the street. From 2010-2020 you could basically print money. Now that the legislation has been rewritten, dispensaries are now allowed by the state and commercial growing licenses are a thing you would barely make enough money to even make it worth your time. So can you make money? Maybe, depends where you are. Let's assume you're in a place where you can still sell for $1000+ a pound, do you know anyone who would buy cannabis in bulk? Can't tell you how many people i back in the day who grew a bunch of pot and then realized they didn't actually have a buyer. Also, this is just my personal opinion from years of experience but I wouldn't grow with a partner. For one, you're cutting your money in half. Two, there is going to be strife and disagreements over who did what, when, how, why etc etc. Growing with a friend is a great way to not have a friend pretty quickly, I know from experience. If you can't do it on your own, don't bother. Even if you can't make money selling it, it's still a fraction of the price to grow your own than it is to buy it from the street or the dispo and you'll know what went it it and more importantly, what didn't go into it. Nasty shit gets sprayed on bud if it means not losing a crop to pests or powdery mildew, even the stuff that's been "tested" by a lab. Those guys growing it know how to game the system to beat those lab tests or the lab is giving them falsified results in exchange for kickbacks believe me.
>>
>>28977657
Tl;dr
Maybe, depends if you're in a legal state or not. The more legal risk there is the more money there is to be made. Don't take a partner, grow on your own. Even if you don't grow for profit, it's still worth it because it's cheaper than buying and you will have clean weed.

Good thing about harley: aftermarket and knowledge is big.
Bad thing about Harley: despite this, there's gaps in both the aftermarket and knowledge if you actually flog your shit.
See: my sportster. There's only one option on the market(two if you count the Chinese clone of that option) for 15" rear shocks.
Also, if you clutchless shift your bike a lot, evidently that will make the clutch nut start to back off, and it's the same symptoms as a clutch that needs adjustment, except you do the adjustment procedure and it fixes nothing, no matter which way you try and do it. And not even HAMMER DAN of HAMMER PERFORMANCE knows what you're talking about because he says clutchless shifting is bad in general, and I guess not enough of even his customers are doing it.
So basically what I'm saying is normies want to be that quirky different main character person from the movie, without knowing that your life is actually harder by being different, not easier.

The one on the cable I presume? Because the other one is locked in place. My lock nut was practically fused to the wrong side of the adjuster, it was riding fine I think idk.
I wasn't sure if I fucked it up last time I adjusted it and tightened the wrong side or it came loose, both seem plausible.

It's super easy. Just put the kickstand down, jack the back tire off the ground via the rear exhaust bracket, and then they unbolt and come off no drama.
No, this fucking nut in picrel. My symptoms were the clutch getting hard to shift into neutral, so I figured either the grenade plate was going out or the clutch just needed adjustment. So I did the adjustment by the book and it just wouldn't get any better, no matter how I tried. So I ordered a clutch and today I get the stock clutch out and the grenade plate is intact and nothing looks bad. Only to find out once I'm fucking with it that the entire basket is loose.

I haven't tried vinyl wrapping my bike but I'd like to. Problem is that my bike has lots of rounded panels which would be difficult to wrap and I'd likely fuck it up and end up with folds in the wrap.
I think it's easier to use a rattle can instead of a wrap.
Also, wrap music is for negros.

The missile doesn't concern me but if I can find a wrap (or paint) that repels the policeman's radar then I'll be happy.

No such thing. They don't really use real RADAR anymore, it's really just a shitty LASER ranger like they have mounted on their patrol rifles, except they have cheat sheets for these ones instead of missing.
