The best you can do is don't run. If its a german shepard like that maybe he will just smell you and walk away or his owner will come soon. If it is a dangerous dog, pitbull, etc. Then do the same but pray that it's not a crazy dog and starts jumping to bite your arms or bites your legs. If that start to happen, find something to stab his eyes or head in general, scream for help and pray because you can't do anything more.
The best thing to defend from a crazy dog would be a pepper spray I think. And if he gets closer, a knife. A gun is better of course but not everyone can have a gun.

>Be me driving in the woods with gf
>See a dog running around
>Middle of nowhere, no one around
>Take him home, give him a bath and food
>Seems okay for a few weeks
>Euthanize him after two months later because he bit everyone in the house at least one.
The correct answer is leave it where you found it or shoot it.

I have a park that is partially modern, mostly untouched nature except for the paths. tons of people go there, to run, to bike, to birdwatch, to do whatever. majority of the time people let their dogs off the leash. do goes off in the thickets for a sniff, and often times owner breaks sight of dog. so many times i will be walking along and a random leashless dog is posturing an attack being territorial. haven't been bit yet myself. but it genuinely pisses me off that owners play it off as "oh were just stranger training".
some dogs are nice and they are well trained and don't need a leash. but I've been there so much that i will hear 2 dogs fighting on the far side of the park and i just think "yep, dumb dog owners cant follow the rules". I don't hate dogs, i just want your lovely pitbull on a leash before i send it to another realm.
I don't know how runners do it. You think if people are running it would be more likely to set off aggressive dogs. this is what really happens when you let bad people run societies.

Know what I love about this place? You captured in words what I meant to convey in the image. I don’t hate dogs. I hate shitty dog owners. Keep it on a leash under your control.
>“Oh he just got out!”
>“He’s just a puppy!”
>“Come here come here!” Dog refuses to follow commands.
If your dog comes at me I’ll be very tempted to punch you in the face before the dog.
