Crocs or similar actually make decent boat/wading shoes. Went fishing
/crabbing in the intercoastal and they were great for scrambling around oyster covered shallows, waist deep water and in and out a jon boat. The bouyancy helps them stay on your feet even without the memestrap.

Crocs are not an option. They will fill with rocks and sand instantly. Eventually, I'll step in mud and lose one or both.

Are you fishing or what? If you are looking for a wet wading boot for rivers any of the mainstream options will work as trout rivers are high flow and usually lack much sand or small stuff to get in. If you are looking for a wet wading boot for saltwater you are going to want a flats boot. Orvis and Simms makes them and they are better at keeping small stuff like sand out.

I fish warmwater and coldwater for trout, bass, etc. Even in my trout streams, there is tons of mud, which will get into boots that aren't sealed well. There is also gravel, high banks, and lots of walking. On multiple occasions, I have hiked 1.5 miles to just get to the stream. I'd like to have a wet wading boot capable of doing that. I've looked at the Simms bootie, and I think if I was to get Simms, I'd definitely go with the drawcord wet wading boot.

You will definitely want a neoprene cuff. What I do when I wet wade in the surf is just wear my normal wading boots with a neoprene bootie. I like the ones korkers make because they are self draining. Sand gets in my boots from the surf but it doesn’t usually bother me much.

I like my Korkers Buckskins. I have a set of frog togs gravel guards that velcro around the top of the boot when I'm not wearing my waders.
