what is your favourite shape of hiking sticks? i like to grab the ones with a bend, preferably roots since they allow sharper bends. it supports me better while in hilly terrain rather than a long regular stick.

just cut a hazel stick (prefferably in winter so it's less prote to cracking) easy access, they grow in bulk and you'll have a lot of thiccness choice. also ash is good if you find it

I have one sort of S shaped (but not as pronounced as the letter) which I use for swishing grass for snakes. I also made a cane shaped one which I prefer the shape of but my dream is to find a staff length stick with an interesting gnarl on the top, similar to a wizard staff or perhaps a long shillelagh.
Ultimately any kind of stick will do, so I take that as license to be as creative and eccentric as I want to with it.
