You have to get your reflexes honed first. Practice tossing the machete as high in the air as you can and then grabbing the handle when it comes back down. As your skills develop, try spinning the machete faster and faster as you toss it up in the air. When you're good enough to catch it with your weak hand as your back is turned and you are blindfolded, you will be a true machete master.

>If it's garbage start over
>If it's cheap and decent like a tramontina or marbles factory edge may be fine
>Insert knowing how to sharpen a long blade here, which is a moderate pain in the dick
>Wear properly sized work gloves because (you) will get blisters otherwise
>If you need to process non green wood or anything thicker than about an inch remember "use a saw retard"

Hand behind back or in pocket when slashing. Especially if it is a long, flexible brush whacker. Cannot stress this enough. You'll slash yourself otherwise eventually.
Also start killing lots people and defenseless animals with your machete.

try to focus on swinging it straight rather than swinging it hard, a lot of energy is wasted on swings that are half slap and half slash.

Machetes are useless. Too long to fit in a backpack or conceal, brittle in cold weather, not nearly as good at chopping as a hatchet of the same weight, not good for knife things. They have no niche other than harvesting large quantities of soft vegetation, which is an agricultural task, not a survival task. They're good weapons but so is a Glock.

Through practice. Find your closest ANB and turn it into a DNB. Rinse and repeat.

You need to sell machetes to other people to get more points to fight The Gorgotron

That sounds dangerous. Is this supposed to be some evil joke?

>only 1 machete
no. Don't get me wrong, you should still be proud of this accomplishment, but here's a peak at what an actual master looks like:

They're good for clearing brush, which can be a survival task if you're actually innawoods and have to bushwhack.
But I also like them for chopping small stuff more than a hatchet.

These guys are not wrong, but a machete is fun, and I do walk through tons of thick vegetation on my hikes. I've had this machete for over 10 years, worked wonders on most hikes. As you can see it went through a little wear with time. What exactly do you wish to master? Just make sure you don't hit your other hand when cutting vegetation. I've cut very thick pieces of wood with it, even moderately sized trees on a few select occasions (I don't like destroying trees for no good reason). I guess ask if you have questions?
