Personally I rate Kodak Pro Image 100 as the best film stock for reds. Hopefully this gives you an idea, metered ttl.

I haven't had much opportunity to try. you can see some yellows in my pic but I mainly use Pro Image for taking photos of red brick.

It could be very dark. Are you going to use a tripod? If not, and it is too dark, you'll just be out of luck unless you use the fastest film you can find which will probably just be Portra 800.

P800 does have good colors but due to its speed it'll have a fair bit of grain.

Photographing at all is idolatry so why not? Bring a few 600w strobes and tell them they symbolize the light of christ. Tell them the tripod represents the steadfastness of jesus’ love in the face of sin. Enjoy your photos.

I just use a tripod when I take photos in my church(es)
either way something you'll have to be careful of is white balance
I don't know of any church that's lit with high-CRI white lighting, at best you're going to get something like tungsten (picrel)

Piss yellow-green is the color of cheap domestic LED bulbs. Our eyes are more easily fooled by the peaky spectrum than a camera sensor is.

These bulbs have shit color reproduction and will fuck up some cameras so hard that neutral white balance isn’t even possible.

I generally don't color-correct but tried it out here and that's what it turned out to be yeah
haven't had a problem with my digital camera that I've noticed, but I've taken less digital photos in churches
