the internet wasn't, but the iphone giving normies access to 24/7 on-the-go access to it was a door that should have never been opened.

I agree, but would say less the normies, than the owners of corporate services dictating the structure of it, down to the members of the boards that craft standards. These companies dictate the normies behavior, and keep the normies normes up, and getting normaler, until eventually they are completely normalized, and everyone is the normalest, with no hope to change any of the normal ways they do normal things.
Making money over creating a system for humans to store and share data and information, and letting the shape of it manifest from that, was the mistake.

normal people are the only good thing about the internet.
if weirdos didn't think they owned the internet they wouldn't have anywhere of their own and would be forced to conform.
>>
>>
>>533259832
To answer the first person's question, because you're not employing sustained attention, and because both the language itself and the ideas communicated with it are probably unsophisticated. At the intersection of those two ideas there's the fact that long-form complex text is necessary for certain ideas to be effectively communicated at all, so by not engaging with it in any form you're confining yourself to the intellectual ghetto of a simple niggerbrained popcorn experience of shallow, trivial thinking

The internet was a net positive when it was only nerds on it.
SOCIAL MEDIA is what is damaging humanity. That is what brought all the normies online, and now they are being mindbroken because they are trying to substitute followers and retweets for actual social interaction.

This.
2004 was heaven.
slsk, irc, bittorrent, tubgirl, goatse, warez, random ass artsy sites some kid made to hawk free vsts and their friends zines, endless shit like that.
Myspace was haha whatever.
Facebook was the CIA infiltrating the country and installing a puppet dictator who made culture illegal.

normies are conforming to what they think weirdos are, but since it's their own perception of weirdos, it's actually just normies, conforming to normie normalcy, which is just normal conformity.

Early 90s to early 2000s was kino.
Now every nigger, jeet, redneck, and kike can pollute the waters with constant stupidity.
Movies used to be better - because producing them had a learning curve and used expensive equipment. Now any retard with a cheap camera is producing slop.
Same with photos.
Same with music.
Same with literature.
Im tired.
>>
>>533259832
For a long time it was a net positive. But in the last 12-8 years it has been a net negative, I think.
Probably has to do with all the zionists, indians, billionaires, and corporations. They're shitting it all up.
>>
>>
>>533259832
I don't believe it was a mistake. I've learned so many valuable things from resources online, and I've been able to have worthwhile conversations with people I otherwise never would have met.
It will, however, turn out to be a mistake if we continue to let corporations, propagandists and career politicians make it the worst version of itself that it can possibly be.
>>
>>
>>533259832
Nah the internet wasn't a mistake. There were two major mistakes though.
>smart phones, average and below average people probably shouldn't have easy permanent access to the open internet, everything worked better when the internet was slightly capability-gated, so only people willing and capable of learning at a desktop or laptop could even "get online"
>social media and other corporate controlled/curated spaces got too big and too powerful, the corporate side of the internet pretty much is the beginning and end of the internet for most users nowadays. they rarely if ever leave the walled gardens or the adjacent smaller gardens, so the lions share of the focus, userbase, and money went that way

To answer the Twitter user, reading books are smarter than reading tweets because books are long enough to cultivate complex ideas and teachings. Tweets are just short sentences and (usually) worthless ideas.
>>533260725
You have to read the right things. Reading random shit like Harry Potter doesn't make you smarter.
>>
>>
>>
>>533259832
in regards to that tweet: no, scrolling and reading is not like reading a book, in the same way watching YouTube shorts is not like watching a move from start to end
scattered sentences do not follow long or complex plots... vast majority engagement is an empty reply to a meme or rage bait or Im14andthisisdeep post
people's attention span is down to 3 seconds and you can see it in group conversations, they step on each other's toes talking no one listens and only replies their point of view who isn't very related to what the previous person said

God, the internet was so good when you needed a modicum of intelligence to access and understand it. You also needed a home desktop computer and be able to operate it at a medium level of sophistication. Somehow I could dial into a friends' modem directly on a 56k modem and play seamless death matches but that tech has apparently been fucking lost. But yeah letting every mouth breather on earth easily access the internet, and having platforms for them to spew their retarded thoughts and feelings, has been a death knell. Now I just hope something fries all of the electrical devices in the world so we can start anew.
>>
>>
>>533259832
Internet on it's own is good. Social media has become a platform that amplifies humans worst behaviors for the sake of profit and manipulating narrative control. Sadly you can't educate people quick enough to outpace the manipulation.

My point is that being smarter probably won't get you a raise in the real world. I'm telling you to go kiss the ass of your boss.
I'm not telling you books won't make you smarter, so you're "agreeing" with nothing I said.

>>
>>533263296
In your post first post, you're making this argument:
"No one got a raise for reading things, therefore reading doesn't make you smart."
My TWO points to you:
1. Reading can make you smart. You not getting a raise after reading does not disprove this statement.
2. Intelligence does NOT guarantee a raise, so just play office politics and kiss some asses.

This is accurate though, women are naturally better at magic because they are designed to get fucked and dominated and the first and last step of magic is letting demons fuck and dominate you. That’s why male wizards and vampires and such are always homos

No, thabks to internet we have access to most knowledge of humanity. Research can be syncronized in real timr between Universities and labs. You can loterally have any type of education that doesn't need certification (like being a physisican, lawyer, engineer). With AI this was accelerated 100x even more. We can talk with or family and friends around the planet for pennies. Decentralization of money is also coming soon.
If you focua on social media and what /pol/ and Reddit want you to grift, well yeah, internet bad.

reading a single book won't do shit for you. becoming a reader will alter the way that you form thoughts, become aware of your thoughts, and how you interpret your thoughts. generally speaking, it puts your brain in a state where it can absorb information more easily.
so as you read more often, your brain synapses will be able to form connections more often and stronger connections, which is something that begins to deteriorate as you age.
it's essentially an act of rebellion in which you are trying to maintain the spongey/absorbent mind of your youth, meaning learning new skills and retaining information becomes easier. Your ability to speak and annunciate also improves.

The internet is a good thing, which is mainly for providing access to virtually all human knowledge and fast communication. The problem may be that, rather than use it for the practical utility, research and information, people have secluded themselves and made the web a replacement for actual life, identifying with meaningless entertainment and corporate mainstream narratives, which had made the internet worse in the long run, and is becoming more unusable as time goes on.

There are two major problems with it
>The "turn" once authoritarians misuse it
>People getting lost in echo chambers without a concept of "what you see is what you become"
>Retards unable to understand when they are the ones not being rational, while constantly othering anyone outside of their group beliefs.
It's all the worst things that can happen in society overconcentrated and globalized. Sadly the biggest issue with globalized contact across countries is that we lose sight of our local culture and replace it with these global cabals where the norms you create in these groups slowly seep into your respective country of origin, because too many from these cross-national groups are sealed in dark online chambers, with locals not taking notice until people have already become radicalized.
There's always been people who decide to be transgender. There's never been this many people doing it all at once, because they're millenials who grew up on pornification of their cartoon characters and gayification of innocent males, and the rabbit holes of too much pornography, and then the social contagion it besets.
This is not a visibility issue. It's because the internet has social contagion. And it isn't "muh algorithms" that causes it. Its us. We make the cabals that people get lost in, and democratize and popularize the narrow interests we have, until onlookers think it's normal, and then it gets normalized, and then it starts running rampant IRL.
It isn't normal to think you're a woman if you have a dick, or a man if you have a pussy. It isn't normal to think your destiny is to take cock in your ass or take your cock in another man's ass. It's an accrued lust you develop by where you've fared. And that's okay, if everyone were aware and agreed on that. But we see people denying simple reality to an accelerating degree, and this is because the internet is a seperate realm that makes people delude themselves from real life.
