The #1 thing you that prevents totalitarianism is the ability to produce the things you need to survive for yourself. Totalitarianism requires that you be dependent on the government for all things. The easiest one for you to tackle is your need for food.

>IT'S SO MUCH WORK!
It doesn't have to be. If you focus on perennial plants, you get huge harvests with very little work compared to planting a whole bunch of annuals every year. Yes, you need to wait a few years for them to get established, but a small upfront investment of time/effort pays off in the long run.

>But I eat mainly/only meat!
If you raise animals, you will need to feed them something. A pig fed a varied diet of fruits and nuts will be of much higher quality than the factory farmed crap, so you'll want to plant perennials anyway.

these get your clothes perma dirty, but jummy
>>
If you do plant annuals, you should select things that sow their own seeds, so while their lifecycle is still only one year, you only need to plant them once to continue getting the benefit from it.
>>
>>533280403
If you grow white mulberry, it's also food/habitat for silk moths.
>>
>>533280693
I wish. I cant afford to buy land, house, tools, seeds, animals etc, plus I dont know how to keep all these different living things thriving, also I would feel bad if I had something die because of me not knowing what Im doing...i wish its a nice dream. Maybe when I am old, but then I cant work in fields
>>
>>533281177
This is called "learned helplessness" and it's what the totalitarians rely on to control you.

You can do it. Start small.

Do you have a balcony? There are small perennials you can grow in tight spaces. Some people even grow dwarf citrus trees indoors.
>>
>>533281573
maybe I can buy cheap land in albania or moldova or zimbabwe.
>>
>>533280333
I noticed that no-one picks up mulberries here. sad anyway
>>
>>533280333
you number one problem is not food
it is security
you can produce food, and the state will just take it
>>
>>533281726
Soldiers march on their stomachs, as the saying goes.
You'll want a gun for dealing with pests anyway.
>>
Good thread. In the US there are too many gunowners for the govt to rob even 5% of them of their needed food at gunpoint.

Its great to get peach trees, apple trees, cherry trees, rhubarb, asparagus, raspberries, blueberries all going on your property, even if it is a small one. Once they are established and youve gotten some mason jars and a dutch oven, canning them is trivial, with even a small yard drastically increasing your odds of surviving a famine.
>>
>>533281841
soldier have eaten food for 20 year before they became soldiers
again
your number one priority is the ability to protect what you grow / make / earn
it is done with walls, connections, traps, etc
>>
>>533281972
canning is very good
you can even can store items, when they are in season
>>
>>533281726
Didn't help them take further action in Minnesota. What makes you think soldiers will have the will to actually take people's food away?
>>
>>533282052
I prefer to just look for specials when the grocery has them.

They had canned corn and canned beans for 49 cents the other day. I bought 48 cans for 24 bucks. Incredible.

Call me a jam boy idgaf I'd suck 40 fresh dicks for a jar of pure raspberry jam

When you say pure you mean... what? No sugar?
>>
>>533282109
that's the most trivial task
>>
>>533281982
Walls can be made cheaply with resources already on your property if you use rammed earth.
You can use them as fruit walls to make it easier to grow plants in colder climes, for instance.

>>533281972
Some plants don't even require work to dry them, like jujube.
When eaten fresh, it's like a small apple that tastes a bit of caramel. If you leave them on the tree, they dry up and can be used to infuse in hot water for a refreshing beverage.

Learn how to butcher and cook a human. It's important to avoid the brain because you don't want to get prion disease (can't be made safe even with cooking at high temps).
You will never go hungry in SHTF if you are prepared to eat people.
Personally I don't think I could do it, but it might save your life.

I like to plant coconuts in random places. Moringa is a complete protein grows like a weed here. I got tons of those seeds. Today I made a steak with cuban oregano with onion and peppers from the garden. I made edible hedge in my front yard simpson stopper, fig and governor's plum. Passion fruit vines going up the trees.
With miracle fruits to enhance flavor. I made 12 tower stax to grow in a 40 by 15 foot space.

You'll just get Ruby Ridge/WACOd if you become too self sufficient. You can't outlast a siege from the government. Chris Dorner knows.
>>
>>533290969
That shit is a fucking relic. No one is that isolated from the world anymore.
Now they'll just red-flag SWAT you, no days-long ops, no real federal engagement, just the sheriffs and a no-knock warrant
Some people have the somewhat dubious advantage of living in states that are currently openly hostile to the federal government though
>>
>>533290969
A siege falls apart if attacked from behind. Make friends with your neighbours.
>>
>>533291512
WACO was an entire community of people. All you'll get is escalation, your neighborhood is always going to be lower than the number of federal/state employees that exist in the government.
>>
>>533291688
Cameras to see them coming. Walls up funnel them into kill zones, buildings impervious to fire, direct communication to neighbours and weapons that don't give a shit about what plates they are wearing.

If you're concerned about a siege, design around it.
>>
>>533291896
Walls TO funnel them... fucking autocorrect

lol what a nonsense, they just steal your food, your farm, and your home, and rape your ass with a cucumber from your garden, fukn retard

the first thing to prevent the totalitarianism is to fight its propaganda and their promoters, with same amount of propaganda and energy :)

anything in the cucumber family produces hundreds of seeds per fruit that are easy to clean and save for the next year. plant once and have it forever.
>watermelon
>honeydew
>cantaloupe
>squash
>pumpkin
>cucumber
>zucchini
watermelon more nutritious than any corn syrup based dessert. i like to blend watermelon with mint leaves and add lemon juice. best lemonade.

pumpkin uses:
>roast the seeds
>pie
>pumpkin stout beer
>jackolanterns
>win the state fair
>can feed it to chickens
>keeps weeds out of your garden beds

zucchini should grow similar to any other cucumber type plants. not a huge fan of zucchini, i personally like butternut squash, it makes an excellent soup.

i dont like mulberry it's tasteless and suckers like a demon

fig and blueberries are great to grow. try adding persimmon. i like permanent crops more than annuals.

>>533299395
I've had bad experience with persimmon. One unripe persimmon destroyed me during a mushroom trip. Mulberry is best dried, imo. Figs too, tbqh
>>
>>533299209
Butternut soup is the only form of butternut I've ever enjoyed, pumpkin seems more versatile to my tastes. Spinach is good, kale and collards have never appealed to me. I'm a big fan of broccoli and asparagus, but asparagus takes forever and a fortnight to grow I've heard
>>
>>533299430
those are good if you're growing in a colder climate. otherwise i don't see the point beyond novelty vs growing blueberries (saskatoons) or grapes (honeyberries).
>>
>>533299527
try it again. go to a organic or chinese store theyll have persimmon. try it before you plant it. look for "hachiya" persimmon it's astringent so let it ripen until it's soft like a bag of jelly. or look for "fuyu" persimmon, it's non-astringent and can eat like an apple. hachiya's better. persimmon is good because the fruit is expensive to buy but growing it is easy with very few pests or disease.
>>
>>533299640
Asparagus is one of those things best harvested from the wild, if you can
>>
>>533299799

>>533280333
Heres my garden run down for last year: 3 weed plants (outdoor, completely natural grow) 1 fig tree that bears lots of figs, a big section of garlic, another big section of chives, couple raspberry bushes that have been there forever, little section of about 10 strawberry plants, and it was the second year I grew potatos, which were awesome, but they weren't as big as I would have hoped. Oh and I got a bunch of herb plants like basil, sage, etc. Oh yea and a couple lettuce plants

Some things I have grown in the past: blueberries, tomatoes, white onions, I even had a plum tree that died recently.

I never have ever used a single bit of store bought fertilizer, except some simple bone meal 1 year that my ex-gf left here.

I only use compost that I make myself from food scraps and sawdust/woodchips. All my plants grow very nicely.
