The background could be any temperate climate in the summer; the long grass and overgrowth suggests this is a relatively remote location or at least, it's not landscaped. The blood spatter is arrayed in a odd pattern. Dripping away from him, suggesting perhaps something bleeding was held above him and trickled back as he was lying prone, perhaps. Visible on his shoulder too. The redness on his right cheek suggests submersion or it could be a bruise.
