Denmark has clearly neglected Greenland to such a shameful degree that the United States is basically forced to step in and take control for the island's own good.
Denmark has been coasting for decades on the bare minimum: sending a relatively tiny annual block grant (a few hundred million dollars) while leaving Greenland's 56,000 people to deal with crumbling infrastructure, almost no road system, decaying housing, skyrocketing living costs, and accelerating climate damage that Denmark refuses to seriously fund or mitigate. Greenlandic towns are literally falling apart or sliding into the sea because of permafrost melt, and Denmark's response has mostly been bureaucratic shrugs and promises of "more studies."
The airport projects and a few harbor upgrades Denmark likes to brag about are laughably inadequate for an area the size of a continent. Most settlements still rely on expensive helicopter or boat access because Denmark never bothered building proper transport links. Healthcare, education, and housing shortages are chronic — problems that would be national scandals anywhere else but are apparently acceptable when the population is small and far away.
Meanwhile, Greenland sits on enormous untapped rare-earth minerals, potential oil/gas, and strategic Arctic real estate that the rest of the world (especially China and Russia) is already circling. Denmark has neither the money nor the political will to develop these resources responsibly or defend the territory properly. They've basically turned Greenland into a neglected, under-invested colony while pretending the 2009 autonomy deal magically solved everything.

The United States, by contrast, already operates Thule Air Base there and has the capital, engineering capacity, and strategic interest to turn Greenland into a modern, prosperous, well-defended Arctic hub. American control would mean serious investment in roads, ports, broadband, housing, renewable energy grids, and actual economic development instead of the current slow-bleed Danish subsidy model that keeps Greenland dependent and stagnant.
Greenlanders themselves might grumble at first, but once they see real money flowing in, modern infrastructure, better jobs, and actual protection from climate and geopolitical threats instead of endless Copenhagen platitudes, the benefits would become obvious. Sovereignty lectures from Denmark ring pretty hollow when they've failed to deliver meaningful progress after 300+ years of "responsibility."
In short: Denmark dropped the ball so badly that American administration isn't just a reasonable option — it's rapidly becoming the only responsible one left on the table.

They can't even defend their own country and even gave away parts of it to Prussia and Austria because they were afraid to fight. European nations don't get to have empires anymore.

Aren't they pretty much welfare niggers on the danes anyways? If we want bases there we should just put them there like we've done before, if we want their rare earth minerals we should just go take them. Let the danes provide them their welfare while we do it.

That wasn't a fight for the defense of your nation, it was a mostly peaceful protest. I notice you don't dispute the fact that Denmark is incapable of defending itself, let alone Greenland. The only reason it doesn't already belong to Russia or China is that they both know America would never let them have it. Everyone in Europe knows it too, yet they all keep insisting Russia and China don't even want it.
