Marketing. They advertise super low fares that include little more than the right to board that flight. Everything else costs extra, and if you add in the costs of "extras" that simply make a flight tolerable (carry-on, some control over where you sit, luggage, boarding pass, talking to a rep if necessary, etc.) they're no more competitive than the majors.

Customers decide they can do without all of that to get the low fare, but expect premium class service anyway. Why? Because they're niggers who, by the way, are usually, although not always, black.

When it becomes clear that they'll get no more than what they knowingly pay for, well, you've seen the videos.
