>>20596565 it's fair,.he's not a nobody but not a well known guy like mao or ueno. just wondering if the English commentary use the documents that also the Japanese commentar has, where it's written each wrestlers data and other trivia
>>20595738 Now that NJPW is partnered with WWE (via Cyberagent), maybe Undertaker can write them an El Grande Americano style storyline to revitalise the company
I'll tune in when someone over there gets a clue and purges Will Ospreay and his clones. I don't want to see another pale white boy from that cursed island in a NJPW ring for at least 2 decades.
>>20597426 No reason Fujita and shouldn't have had 14 points this tournament but thank God the semis look great. No real wrong answer for a winner here unlike the G1.
>>20598585 >New Japan Pro-Wrestling is pleased to announce a new collaborative project with JapanesePod101.
>Through an extensive library of video and social content together with carefully curated online lessons, JapanesePod101 is a long established leader in online Japanese language learning.
>A series of collaborative videos in the coming weeks and months will allow NJPW fans to get to grips with some of the Japanese language spoken by fans, wrestlers and in venues, allowing for deeper immersion in the Japanese pro-wrestling culture. For regular JapanesePod101 viewers and users, this collaborative content will serve as an introduction to a key part of Japanese sporting and popular culture they might not have explored before.
>>20602084 Suzuki is gonna be a forever guy like Fujiwara and I see the same thing for Ishii unless he gets legit too banged up to wrestle even semi-regularly>
I think running back a rematch of last year's finals with YOH winning, and then winning the title is the move. I think he's earned it and I think Fujita falling short against a guy he's beaten before, and that guy going all the way shows there's levels for him to reach still
>Main event: Best of the Super Jr. 33 Semifinal- Master Wato vs YOH >7th Match: Best of the Super Jr. 33 Semifinal- Kosei Fujita vs Robbie Eagles >6th Match: Unbound Co. (Yota Tsuji, Taiji Ishimori, Robbie X & Daiki Nagai) vs United Empire (Callum Newman, Francesco Akira, Jakob Austin Young & Zane Jay) >5th match: Aaron Wolf, Toru Yano, Ryusuke Taguchi & KUSHIDA vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi, SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) >4th Match: El Desperado & Hyo vs Daisuke Sasaki & Dick Togo >3rd Match: Jun Kasai & Nick Wayne vs Unbound Co. (Titan & Gedo) >2nd Match: Yuya Uemura & Masatora Yasuda vs TMDK (Ryohei Oiwa & Hartley Jackson) >1st Match: Tiger Mask & Taisei Nakahara vs Valuiente Jr. & Tatsuya Matsumoto
There should be a hard retirement age just like there was for joshi back in the day. Seeing old ass men who can barely move wrestle kills the believability of this being a real sport.
>>20604769 He's uniironically one of the few things are like. He's not G1 worthy and there's too many "lol so quirky" guys rn but this bit is over with me
>last years winner vs faction partner and former champ for the first time >winner 3 years ago vs perennial bridesmaid >latter main events Well I guess this makes Wato or YOH frontrunners because if neither of them win the BOSJ it makes the TMDK clash semi-maining even more odd
>>20605999 I think YOH is in the main cuz he's the most over of the 4. He'll ultimately lose to Wato and then it's a toss-up between him and Fujita since they have their feud going
>Callum doesn't look strong at all, so why is he the champion? Does Ospreay really have that much power? He seems like the kind of wrestler who would lose to Robbie X in a singles match. >It looks like Fujita will win for the second year in a row. How boring. >Fujita's face is about a 50 out of 100, he's not handsome at all, right? There are so many ugly people like Wat, aren't your senses a bit messed up? >Back when they were young lions, Oiwa was the handsome one and Fujita was the ugly one. >It looks like YOH is going to win, no matter how you look at it. A second consecutive win for Fujita would be a bit much. >YOH vs SHO is definitely confirmed for January 4th. >Desperado, who is probably involved in the creative aspects of the junior division right now, said that when YOH and SHO's title match ended prematurely due to YOH's injury, he thought that their title match should be at the Dome, not Ryogoku, so I'm pretty sure that the 3K title match will be on January 4th. >Looking at X, most people are happy that YOH won, but in languages other than Japanese, it seems like there are more people who are disappointed that Wato lost. Do foreigners like Wato that much? >Last year's G1 didn't have any outside competitors, and the president's retirement tour made it a bit of a letdown, so I wonder if this year they'll try to make up for it by inviting a bunch of other organizations.
>>20610237 >>Looking at X, most people are happy that YOH won, but in languages other than Japanese, it seems like there are more people who are disappointed that Wato lost. Do foreigners like Wato that much? First thing I see is people being mad at Wato losig kek I get the sentiment because the set up between Wato and Fujita was spelled out with that Fujita's promo BUT like a lot of japanese I don't vibe with Wato and I understand YOH being pushed for the title instead of him because his age and injuries. Another year or two might be too late for him while Wato is still young.
>>20610237 It would really go a long way if Callum could put muscle on that frame. He's taller than most guys, he has the strength to pick up and throw most guys, reinforce that image.
>>20610570 I like SHO when he's trying to be funny and he wasn't even that bad this year but he should never touch a belt or top of a tournament ever again.
>Main event: Best of the Super Jr. 33 final- Kosei Fujita vs YOH >7th Match: Unbound Co. (Yota Tsuji, OSKAR & Yuto-Ice) vs United Empire (Callum Newman, Great-O-Khan & Zane Jay) >6th Match: Aaron Wolf, Toru Yano & Jun Kasai vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi & Dick Togo) >5th Match: Yuya Uemura, Taichi & KUSHIDA vs TMDK (Ryohei Oiwa, Hartley Jackson & Robbie Eagles) >4th Match: El Desperado & Hyo vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) >3rd Match: Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi, Daisuke Sasaki, Nick Wayne & Valiente Jr. vs Unbound Co. (Taiji Ishimori, Robbie X, Titan, Gedo & Daiki Nagai) >2nd Match: Shota Umino, El Phantasmo & Jado vs United Empire (Jake Lee, Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young) >1st Match: Goto Revolutionary Army (Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI & Tatsuya Matsumoto) vs Tiger Mask, Masatora Yasuda & Taisei Nakahara
>>20612045 If SHO turned before or in the immediate aftermath I'd be ok with it, as is I think YOH squeezed the best match you can get out of current SHO in the BOSJ
>>20612466 don't find tsuji particularly charismatic, he has a cool image but it's just that. doesn't help that him losing the top belt to a toddler gave him negative aura
As a new initiative for "Sekichu Presents BEST OF THE SUPER Jr. 33," three awards—"Outstanding Performance Award," "Fighting Spirit Award," and "Technical Award"—were selected by fan vote.
The results were announced in the ring at the June 7th Ota City General Gymnasium event. The results are as follows:
*Total votes: 2,510 votes
[Outstanding Performance Award] 1st place: Jun Kasai (FREEDOMS) = 947 votes Runner-up: Robbie X = 291 votes
>To be honest, YOH is the only one who can properly warm up the crowd on the mic, and he's about the only one who can do that. >The CHAOS medley was fantastic, Fujita's reactions were great, and it had such a great sense of momentum. I'm jealous of the people who were there. >Is Fujita really only 23 years old...? That's incredible, a 23-year-old with the level of trust to be entrusted with the responsibility of losing in the finals. >YOH's matches are getting pretty harsh reviews on American Reddit and overseas X accounts. People are surprised by the gap between the enthusiastic crowd and the poor quality of the matches themselves. They 're saying he just went through the motions without any strategy or tactics >Unlike G1 races held overseas, the Best of the Super Juniors (BOSJ) is primarily for the domestic market, so overseas evaluations are irrelevant. >If the crowd is really excited, then it's a huge success. If the cynical people overseas are complaining, then it's definitely a huge success. >Apparently YOH isn't very popular with foreigners, but I don't really care what they think of him. The fact that we got to see a match that got the crowd going and was satisfying is enough for me. >What was that entrance by Fujita? It was so Noah-like. >Dominion's main event should have been the BOSJ finals... With Tsuji and Callum, you just don't get the same satisfying and refreshing feeling this time around.
>>20621703 >It's amusing how some haters who didn't like the superb match where YOH awakened and Fujita took the hits perfectly are still praising Hiromu and bringing up the tweets of a tiny number of amateurs overseas. Nothing beats the reaction of the more than 3,000 people in the arena. Also, while the Hiromu vs. Amakusa match was good, the Inamura vs. Ozawa match was so mediocre that it's only being talked about in relative terms, and they should realize that. >Fujita's incredibly arrogant attitude is tolerable because he's in his early twenties, but will he gradually calm down as he approaches his thirties? >I don't think Fujita will be around anymore by the time he's 30. Someone who can wrestle like that won't be left alone overseas. >By the way, I predict that YOH will lose and the next challenger, Fujita, will win. I don't like that idea, but New Japan Pro-Wrestling is totally capable of doing something like that these days.
NOOOOO THEY SHOULD GIVE EVERYTHING TO FUJITA RIGHT NOW SO I CAN BE TIRED OF HIM IN 2 YEARS JUST LIKE I BECAME TIRED OF DESPERADO AS SOON AS HE GOT BOOKED STRONGLY
>>20621997 Doesn't surprise me NJPW never went with more comical/surral comedy that japanese like so much because their oversea market. I personally wouldn't even peg YOH's nonsense as shocking as some other things you normally find in puro. NJPW brand of comedy is very safe.
>>20622134 *boring Most of NJPW's presentation is overall safe and boring. Outside of the heels most wrestlers don't have a gimmick other than the gear they wear to the ring. When they take the entrance gear off they become regular boring puro wrestlers
>I don't get YOH's appeal because I'm not japanese >just like I don't get Danhausen's appeal because I'm not american I guess wrestling is just not for people like me anymore...
>>20622325 I feel bad about calling that boring, not everyone can build and work consistently with a character. And not everyone have to be forced into a gimmick when a lot of puro fans also enjoy more traditional approach Which is why like last year, in a minor way, there was drama around an outsider being criticized because his character and style doesn't fit for NJPW and its out of place
>>20621265 As the leader of the grimsters, I hereby declare that, today, YOH is a draw and therefore not completely grim ! He's still a faggot queer though.
>>20622341 Americans really ruined pro wrestling, they don't even care about what happens in the ring anymore, they just want a catchphrase and an entrance theme they can sing along to
Some people look too much at numbers and they keep thinking how wrestling was 20-30-40 years ago when they should care about the present. YOH might be a questionable winner? Maybe. Did the public enjoy the show and showed it during the match? Yes Which is why attendance numbers should be the last thing to judge.
>>20623155 its a little disappointing when YOH was the last real title challenge already, but I'm happy with this year being a chance to give one of the forever bridesmaids a win especially with the crowd so behind him
>>20623075 >https://x.com/thesuperjcast/status/2063574507520946409 >The worst BoSJ final I've ever seen by some distance. YOH copying moves from superior wrestlers with some perfunctory wrestling in between. Obviously not a match for fans like me - the fans in the building lapped it up. Can't deny it was over. But I hated it. It's mostly intl fans being annoyed while japanese don't mind this outcome at all. The problem with NJPW for most of times is the booking, not the talent
Ospreay and goto were way better than yoh ever has been. Bringing up things from the past just shows you have no real defense for yoh. Sorry not everyone is a faggot like you
>>20624624 Explain what makes Ospreay hitting moves from guys he's feuding with or has no connection to in that G1 final not random and otherwise good then.
>>20624921 He was like 1-5 against okada and was desperate to beat him so used some moves from guys who had done that. And obviously he the person is a fan of those guys and both him and his character want to be seen as good as them. And this is stretching it but that year was also the 50th anniversary of njpw so I didn't mind paying tribute to some guys. Fuck you for making me defend ospreay. You still haven't given a good defense for yoh who I'm pretty sure did this in last year's final too
I've been thinking about Nagai and how despite liking him and seeing all the positive reception in the BOSJ I've gotten less invested in him over time. I think it's this pseudo young lion shit they've been leaning more into that's at the core of it.
Like ever since he joined the Unaffiliated he began to show more personality in his look and moves but he's ultimately booked like a young lion. That kind of just kneecaps him to me, like he's presented like a real wrestler but not allowed to be one. Almost every match in the BOSJ he comes out and jumps his opponent and gets fired up and the crowd cheers but after a few matches it rang hollow because I had no confidence he would win anything. I like seeing Nagai and his style but it doesn't mean anything if he's not allowed to raise his station.
>>20625432 to elaborate a bit more I think I'd preferred he just stay a young lion in black trunks and be fighting within that perception instead of giving him more but not allowing him to get anywhere with it
I'm starting to hate Fujita fans. They're like Naito fans of old crying that their favs isn't winning anything and isn't being pushed when it's just not the case in reality.
>Main event: IWGP Heavyweight Championship- Callum Newman vs Yota Tsuji >8th Match: IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship- DOUKI vs YOH >7th Match: IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship- Andrade El Idolo vs Shota Umino vs Drilla Moloney >6th Match: IWGP Tag Team Championships- Knockout Bros. (OSKAR & Yuto-Ice) vs United Empire (Great-O-Khan & HENARE) >5th Match: NEVER Openweight Championship- Aaron Wolf vs Ren Narita >4th Match: El Desperado vs Mistico >3rd Match: Yuya Uemura & Taichi vs TMDK (Zack Sabre Jr. & Ryohei Oiwa) >2nd Match: No DQ- El Phantasmo vs Jake Lee >1st Match: NJPW World TV Championship- Konosuke Takeshita vs SANADA
>>20625616 It's the Wato fans for me. They're sperging despite the fact that he has at best above a lukewarm reaction. At least Fujita gets a reaction.
>>20625628 >DOUKI semi-main >Jake Lee vs ELP for no reason Grim >YOH winning the belt in the semi-main >Depsy vs Mistico Not grim I'd if the grim levels have moved in either direction
>>20625686 >>20625710 And then ruined his last chance at a decent reign for that fucking antidraw shitter cuxley. I can forgive them for covid ruining everything but not that or not giving him a reign sooner
>>20626036 Which was funny when the PowerPoint started just to get some pity points to please NJPW fags who hate him was kind of boring. DDT should had brought on the ring their princess Diana but instead they made him outsold wolf and do the commentary next to Murata. Tragic
>>20627118 desu I know the only njpw guy he cared about was hiromu but he left... I have no clue if ddt treat him as their most prized possession or he just dgaf
