Do anyone cares about wrestlers previous accomplishment in college football? Whenever I watched JR do commentary he'd always drone on about their college football accomplishments. As a Europoor I just zoned out. I don't care what team Steve Austin played for before wrestling or what position he played. Do Americans feel differently about wrestlers' football accomplishments?

i never gave a flying fuck either. don't give 2 shits about football. if i wanted to watch football i'd watch football. one of the reasons i never rated JR all that highly. dimwitted Okie buffoon just assumes the whole world is obsessed with football just because he is. any match he calls, it's so obvious he'd rather be calling football and he's just a pathetic reject stuck doing wrestling.

He's not in the collage, but I'd argue Ernie Ladd is atleast worthy of discussion. You can knock it for being pre-NFL/AFL merger, but he was atleast getting All-Pros.
Nobody other than Mongo is really worth praising. Ron's good enough to be a college legend but nobody else did shit.

Shows that, just like many Americans, you have zero cognitive ability to see/appreciate things from outside of your own perspective. That's not something to be proud of, anon. It displays a lack of brain power. Sincerely, no offense.

It more speaks to how little wrestling matters to boomers. You're trying to say that these people are legit because they accomplished something outside of wrestling rather than their wrestling accomplishments. Framing football as more prestigious than wrestling. Why are you framing it this way to wrestling fans?

The ones who put wrestling on the mainstream map, became household names, and drew 33 million on TV after Mania 3, you mean. Hey, I can rip on them as much as the next guy, but boomers were the GOAT entertainers and it isn't even close.

Football is king of American sports so I guess the carnies used it as a crutch to legitimise those that came from that background. Yeah it really means nothing when you transition to pro wrestling unless you literally do a tackle/pounce move like Monty Brown in your moveset

Old redneck hick mentality that football player =/= pinnacle of human physicality.
This translates to a wrestler being a very tough person in hick-culture.
It’s boomer shit that is slowly being phased out, though it’s mostly because the show is more internationally focused rather than a slice of Americana.
>>
What a retarded fucking thread. It's solely to sell what an athlete the wrestler is. If they wrestled or played baseball or did track & field they mentioned that too. Is two throwaway lines of commentary in a match that offensive to you?

First off, it's an American TV show retard. No one in America knows what the fuck gaelic football is. Second, if Wade or anyone played soccer at a legitimately high level I'm sure they would have mentioned it.

finn balor is a fag, but gaelic football is much better than pigskin monkeyball anyday. football is fucking stupid and im tired of pretending otherwise. all these wrestlers probably left football because they were tired of playing a sport thats so damn boring the audience prays for horrible injuries to occur just because they want something interesting to finally happen. and yea, football is rigged too. in fact, football is probably more rigged than wrestling because more people gamble on football. football fans are the worst part of all, they literally dont care or talk about anything else in life. ask em about the weather?
>FOOTBAAAAALL!
ask em about politics
>FOOTBAAAAALL!
ask em how their familys doin
>FOOTBAAAAALL!
bunch of drunken retarded mutants causing riots and car accidents after every football game, scratchin their ass in public, wipin boogers on all the doors, playin grabass in the streets while claiming they arent gay, and lowering the average american IQ by a huge margin.

well, tom brady is the only football player who isnt a flaming homo and you probably arent him. its more likely that youre another pedophile middle school football coach who tries (and often fails) to rape young boys in the showers. football players arent banging the local girls, theyre too busy slamming pigskins into each others "endzones" lol. and when a footballfag is getting molested by his coach, the last thing he hears before passing out from the pain will be
>TOUCHDOOOOOOOWN!!!

1980 Orange Bowl with Ron Simmons and FSU vs Jim Ross's Oklahoma had a 25.1 Nielsen rating, so like 30 million viewers. Simmons is a college football hall of famer and was a Heisman trophy contender. In the US, especially in the south, football guys like Tim Tebow while in college are more known than most NHL players. Simmons didn't last in the pros too long, not sure why, maybe injury related.

I think Luger played in the CFL but no one cares about that. I guess it's interesting, but when the other wrestlers are billed as "garbage man", "IRS", "repo man", police man, etc, football seems kind of generic in comparison

Alright, listen up! The Heisman Trophy is a prestigious award, given to the best college football player in the nation. We’re talking about athletes who train hard, put in the hours, and make sacrifices to excel in one of the most brutal sports out there.
Now, if a current pro wrestler won the Heisman, that’s a story, isn’t it? It’s like the wrestling world and the football world colliding in a big splash! But let me tell you something: while I respect the athleticism in both, winning a Heisman is about more than just muscles and showmanship. It’s about skill, strategy, and the heart of a competitor!
Why should you care? Because it shows that athletes are not just one-dimensional! Imagine a wrestler who’s probably body slamming opponents in the ring—also dominated on the college gridiron. It’s a reminder that talent can cross boundaries. It challenges the norms and breaks the mold.
But let’s not lose sight of what the Heisman represents. It’s a celebration of football excellence. If a wrestler can pull it off, that’s impressive, but it also raises questions. Are we blurring the lines too much?
So whether you’re a fan of wrestling, football, or both, this is a moment that sparks conversation. Just remember, whether in the ring or on the field, it takes more than just bravado to be a champion!
