I don't know about you but I actually was addicted to videogames. I'd wake up at 5-6am out of pure excitement and have to wait until 7am before I could play. Ironically this lead to me reading a lot as a kid because there's nothing else to do during the morning.
I also got taken to a doctor for hypochondria because I'd try and fake sick every week so I could stay home and play.

That's what addiction is when you only find joy in one activity... Well addiction is defined by the thing you're doing being harmful to your life and you still doing it so you're not really addicted yet but you're certainly on the path to it. Don't choose the thing designed to snatch your attention away from your life, choose your life and improve its quality.
