I have some neck vein distension and it originates from the neck up to the ears. I have objective tinnitus or ear sounds but only 20 times a minute-ish. I have fullness of the ears and dry eyes.

Hi /med/, I'm looking for some advice. My father was just diagnosed with a large mass in his lung. He's scheduled to receive a biopsy to determine what sort of cancer it is specifically (e.g. lung vs something else that travelled) and begin treatment asap. I'm already aware that the biopsy and potentially NGS and IHC are going to be necessary to put together a treatment plan. In the meantime, I'm trying to find data on anything he should be doing in terms of diet and exercise (or anything else really) to help improve his chances since he's already started losing weight and muscle mass. I bet a lot of patients who go on them could actually fix their lives without them. They need self-belief and perseverance. Instead of a negative attitude like "you can't succeed without pills, you need them".

Then when a patient is on antidepressants, it's hard to get off. Stopping the drug causes withdrawal and the patient's functioning declines, which some people interpret as evidence of an underlying "mental illness", when actually it's just withdrawal.

Forensic pathology sounds extremely boring since it's probably mostly traumas and a few poisonings. Once in a lifetime, you get the option of doing a case like George Floyd where the autopsy is still boring but it's historically significant

As a CS grad with no job prospects, how feasible is pivoting to med school? I graduated with a 3.0 gpa, but spent most of my time playing video games and jerking off, so I think it's more a matter of motivation. Can I fluff that with undergrad prereqs or a good MCAT? Do hospitals have proprietary files that only staff can view pertaining to particular patients? Not medical files, but like a record of any complaints or comments on behavior between medical staff that wouldn't be on a clinical chart. Things like "pattern of complaints of perverted behavior from female clinicians." or "combative about ordering tests", "doesn't wear underwear". Is there a way you can get a heads-up on if your patient is a sex offender or violent behavior patterns?
